Binging....once again

This is the 3rd or 4th time that I've binged this week. I obviously feel terrible and I don't know what to do. I've been so bloated that I don't even feel comfortable walking around my house without wearing heavy layers of clothing. Because of all of these, I've considered either doing prolonged fast or eating only fruits and vegetables. I'm just so tired and fustrated.

Do you have a therapist? If not, have you considered seeing one?
In the meantime, don’t do silly things like an extended fast or severely restricted diet. Put the last few days behind you, get any trigger foods out of the house, and get back on track.7 -
What are you having trouble with that's making you give up?0

Hang in there.
When you say binge, do you mean it in the clinical sense (do you have Binge Eating Disorder?) or, do you mean, you've just fallen off the healthy eating wagon for a few days? If the former, please do seek out an eating disorder specialty therapist, as it's kind of above a message board's paygrade if you KWIM.
If it's a bad habit, well, here you are, and I too had three bad days last week, didn't even sign onto MFP because my diary is open and it was pretty embarrassing. Instead of fasting, just join me, we can get ourselves back in order again. No one recommends a punishing fast after overindulgence, as it's not a healthy way to live, and not kind to yourself. If you want, we can try our best to be accountable to each other here.6 -
Don't try to make up for it. Work on getting back to a point where you can eat normally again. I had a period of about six months where I was binge eating 3-4 times a week, at least. In order for me to stop the binge eating, I had to stop worrying about weight loss and just focus on appreciating and enjoying meals again. I did this for several months before I felt comfortable losing weight again. This was concurrent with regular therapy to help me figure out why I was binge eating (the short and simplified answer was that I expected weight loss to solve problems that weight loss doesn't solve, and when I finally hit goal and realized that, I basically broke down because I felt I had done so much work and been so obsessed with losing weight...for nothing).
Your first goal needs to be to stop the binge eating, not to get back to a healthy diet. Once you can figure out how to stop the binge eating, and feel comfortable eating without anxiety again, then you can come back to improving your diet and losing weight.6 -
No fasting. No only eating fruits and veggies. No punishing yourself.
I’ve been there. It’s a destructive cycle that’s hard to break. Binge, restrict, binge, restrict...it just goes on and on. You think by restricting you are fixing your previous binge but you aren’t you are just setting yourself up for the next one.
We all have days where we eat to much and throw the diet out the window. The best thing to do is just go back to normal the next day. You don’t need to make up for the binge or punish yourself for binging. You need to love yourself enough to let yourself make a mistake and just move past it.12 -
Last month you were undereating to start and then not eating back exercise calories - did you address that? Undereating can definitely lead to binges. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10763345/what-am-i-doing-wrong-this-time
You were also eating very unbalanced meals - almost no protein - did you correct that? https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10763695/do-marconutrients-matter/p1
I've said this on at least two of your threads:kshama2001 wrote: »kshama2001 wrote: »I've noticed that majority of my diet has been comprised of carbs so I wanted to try something new. Most of the time I try to stay away from meat and dairy but I'll be willing to try out a keto-like lifestyle for awhile. In addition to this diet, I'll also be doing omad (hopefully I don't get too hungry). If you guys have any recipes please feel free to post them in this discussion.
And before I end this post, I wanted to know if you have to get enough calories on a keto diet? I know it might seem like a dumb question but, after coming home from work I'd normally eat oatmeal and fruits and stuff, but I just don't see myself getting full off of meat.
Good news! Despite the hype, you do not need to do keto or OMAD to lose weight. I know plenty of healthy and fit vegans who eat upwards of 60% carbs. They however, make legumes the staple of their diets. Perhaps you would find rice and beans more filling than oatmeal and fruit.
What is your current protein goal and how well do you hit it?
My protein goal is around 60 grams. but I rarely ever hit that goallynn_glenmont wrote: »Instead of focusing on eliminating or greatly restricting your carbs while you seem to prefer not to eat meat or dairy, it might be more productive to focus on ways to work more protein into your diet, whether that be from eggs, legumes, soy milk, seitan, higher-protein grains like quinoa, whatever meat/poultry/fish/dairy you do like or at least don't mind, or protein powders.
@Honeyacid I will eat and eat and eat and never feel satisfied if I don't get enough protein, so I suggest the first thing you do is to up your protein, which you can do with the plant-based and other suggestions above.
I used to think there was something wrong with me - turned out all I needed was more protein.5 -

The more we know, the better advice we can give
In this case, though, probably the best advice is to seek professional help for the binges.2
