Dinner guest tomorrow. Planning to do homely Japanese. Kakiage to dip into miso soup as a starter. Followed by roll your own California handrolls.

Come on over @weatherking2019. Though I have to say that kakiage is a lot of work. I made them in advance and plan to warm/crisp them up in the air fryer. Not sure it will be as successful as deep frying at the last minute, but it makes hosting logistically a lot easier.

Dinner for a guest. Kakiage was made a few hours in advance and crisped up in the air fryer to dip in miso soup. Second course of roll your own California rolls. We've got cucumber, green onion, tamagoyaki, crab sticks, avocado, pickled daikon, nori sheets. Dessert was bitterkoekjes (=dutch almond macaroons) dipped in amaretto.

Nowhere near as elaborate as the rest of you - and I wouldn't even try to take a picture with my potato phone - but I made a big batch of orzo pilaf with ground pork and leeks.

Moderately proud though because it hasn't turned into a compact block of solidified starch the way my orzo usually does the next day...

Mondays is always omletes - with herbs, plus tomato and courgette slices this time. And buttered potatoes.

Homemade black onion seed pitta stuffed with cumin spiced chicken tenders, green olives, mayonnaise and mixed salad for my daughter, vegetarian ‘meat’ balls, flame grilled baby sweet peppers, harissa yoghurt and mixed salad for me. 😋

Wholemeal pasta, with brocolli and strips of smoked salmon tossed in - and then yoghurt (plus a little left over tinned salmon also in yoghurt). Lots of black pepper.

Banana slices with yoghurt, flaked almonds and maple syrup.

It was a quick and easy copk tonight. But still tasty.
