@ellie117 I'm betting it was the small chocolate milkshake instead of the soft drink that made calories unexpectedly high. I have "milkshakes for dinner" when my appetite tanks because it's the easiest way for me to put down 800 calories in one go...

Yeah, some of the big gloopy ones from Steak'n'Shake are over 800 calories for the milkshake alone. Sadness!2 -

Gotcha. I misread your post and thought the sandwich alone was 1400 calories and I audibly gasped. This breakdown makes much more sense.

Today, I cycled 16 miles.
It took a while as I'm still getting used to my bike, which isn't set up how my old one was (and tyre type does make a difference; the only reason I haven't put "slicks" on is that we're in the middle of autumn and winter is not that far off - slicks and ice just don't mix well). I was a little disappointed by the time it took but I'm not where I was a while ago either. So I gave myself a break over that issue.
However, I am ahead of my "schedule" by four days; I had aimed to be able to cycle 15 miles by the end of this week.
And I think that I could have gone further today as I was not in any discomfort, nor was I tired. The only reason I returned home was that it was getting dark and that was making me a little anxious, even though I had lights on my bike and the other road users were being reasonable (bar one numpty who decided that two inches between my handlebars and his car was plenty of room).
Maybe tomorrow I'll go a little further than today. . .26 -
Before I started a group strength training program, I was pretty weak in my arms and a lot stronger in my legs, but this week the trainer added some weight to the lifts I was doing and I was a little nervous I wouldn't be able to do it, but I did! I felt so strong and powerful afterwards, just seeing the improvements in how much weight I can handle is such a motivating feeling.24

Well, I didn't go any further today as dusk beat me into submission again BUT I did the same route as yesterday and shaved five minutes off my time.
Still very slow but it's a definite win.

I met my mother for lunch today in a local cafe (as a side, she does not need to lose weight at all). She had the soup and I had a big delicious omelette. After, I ordered me a coffee and asked if she wanted one too. She said she'd wait a few minutes, get a tea and we could share a something tasty. Well I was full, so said if you want to order something, please do, but I'm not having anything thanks. She tried a few times persuading me, tried if you don't I won't, its not the same if I'm eating it on my own
Same person on another day will say to me, yeah, you don't have great self control.29 -
At the start of the school year I had two pairs of pants that fit. Now I have five... and I didn't go clothes shopping.33

I got into a uniform that work provides sometimes for certain events. I have never been able to get it buttoned up around my stomach before so have always been put in the back room to work where the clients don’t interact with me. It was off site today so none of the usual people saw me fitting the uniform and someone else got the back room (but randomly selected). Today there is a uniform again but people that know me will be there. I am secretly hoping they will notice I fit it now 😃37

vanity NSV: finally being able to wear a short sleeve t-shirt over a long sleeve t-shirt or thermal and not look like the goodyear blimp! I just like the look, but haven't been able to pull it off in 20 years!36

I don't know why I get so nervy about going for long swims - it isn't 'for anything' particularly, it is in my own time, no pressure to be out of the pool or to actually do a long swim, pool is usually pretty empty. But still whenever I think, 'right, I am going to swim *km today', I always get so nervous until about 20 mins after I get in the pool.
NSV is that on Saturday, despite having to turn around and go back home for my goggles and cap (never change gym bags just before going out), I got to the pool and swam 10.5km. Longest ever so far. Nervousness 0 - 1 me

I set off, not realising how strong the SSE wind was. I was heading South, so got blasted the whole way. The wind was really cold as well so I ended up pretty well frozen after ten and a half miles. I didn't warm up at all during our lunch.
I wanted to cycle back as the wind would have been behind me but DH persuaded me that would be a daft idea as I was already very cold.
Turns out that I'd been cycling into 22mph winds. No wonder I'd struggled so badly to get anywhere. It took me nearly an hour and a half to go those ten miles. It used to take me just under an hour to get to that point. I thought it would take an hour and a quarter but failed to factor in the wind.
I thought that something terrible had happened to me overnight as it was such an effort. I nearly turned around and went home, it was that bad.
And the weather forecasters described it as "breezy". Ha! What planet are they on?!
Tomorrow is another opportunity...9 -

With apologies for the digression: I support "maximum rant mode" against weather forecasters and their perception of wind. I swear, if it's anything less than wind that will knock down tree branches and power lines, they're going to call it "breezy". As an on-water rower, their "breezy" would potentially be super risky for me. Why can't they just say "X to Y mph/kph"? Jeesh. I like weather apps, because even though they can be inaccurate, at least they're specific.
You are doing so, so well, madwife, with your recovery and building back your strength. This is just another example: So inspiring. And your DH was right: Hypothermia is a Bad Plan.

Well, today's "gentle breeze" @ 13mph from the East didn't stop me. Still very cold though - apparently it's five degrees Celsius but they haven't factored in the wind chill, so probably just above freezing.
Cycled a little further and knocked another minute off my previous time.
I am so going to get that 20 mile ride in before the end of the month. . . "breezes" (and rain) permitting . . .9 -
My workout program has a lot of plank exercises. I hate planks, I’m not good at them and have always had to do them on my knees. But this week I’ve really been pushing myself and have been able to do some of the moves in a full plank. I’m not perfect and I usually can’t do a full minute of the move in a full plank but it’s definitely progress.33

Nine weeks into new running habit and I finished the C25K program.
A week later I had the first visit with my GP since starting this running thing and found out my BP had gone from 120/70 to 92/58. (Btw, I was 50 lbs overweight and had lost 40 of it before I started running. My BP was the same before and after my weight loss, so just losing weight had not affected it at all.)
Doc seemed to think that was a good thing. Certainly, I have a lot more energy than I used to.32
