THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.

Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...

...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.

We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Now I'm waiting to get my hip fixed. Hip Doc said surgery in April. Ugh! I can't do any walking or biking...both kill me. I see my personal trainer three times a week. She is taking it very slow and easy with me. That's it.

Update: went to the doctor after a lot of pressure from everyone. Turns out I have walking pneumonia. I am quarantined, have meds, soups, plenty of liquids, and no reason not to rest and let this run its course. I will still be updating daily through the weekend but I know my weight is not going to be accurate. It might keep me from eating my feelings and misery away, though, so at least I have that.

Went to step class this morning and had some time before meeting the trainer so did a 20 minute FTP test on the spin bike to see power on the bikes there - interesting that the numbers between gyms are so different (about 75 watts). Will focus on relative improvements, although a watt should be a watt... Had session with trainer and arms and glutes are definitely sore now! Calories are good for the day, although over on fat and under on carbs.

12/19 – 177.2 – Not surprised by this bump. My grandson chose Chinese food for his birthday dinner last night, so lots of sodium. That and a few cookies put me over my calorie limit, but it was a fun celebration. Finished up my classes today, although I still have some grading to do. And shopping. And wrapping. And baking. But I’m used to the pre-holiday crunch by now, and I do get a nice long break between semesters. More cookies this afternoon (they’re everywhere!) and leftover Chinese for dinner tonight, but I stayed under my calorie limit.
