1) do you mean you want to add a food to the main MFP database? You have to click "share this food with other MFP users" (or words to that effect) when you create the entry.
2) I'm pretty sure you can only use foods from the main database when you're creating a recipe0 -
I could not find with "share with MFP users" or similar?0

I think you can only do that if you’re using the browser version. I’ve certainly never seen it on the mobile app version.0
