edited December 2024 in Introduce Yourself
It's been almost an entire year since I uploaded the myfitnesspal app to my smartphone so I thought it fitting to introduce myself! I'm a 46 year old full time working mom, wife and fitness fanatic. My husband and I have been married for almost 22 years, we live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and we lead a very busy, active life. We have three children, two adults and one 15 year old. Our kids have always been involved in sports and with life changing stages for the two oldest, I've found I have more free time to devote to my own health. My husband is also working on starting his own fitness journey as soon as the weather cooperates and he is not receiving trouble calls on top of his full time work as a HVAC technician at our local college campus. I was active in my earlier years, but during my late 20's and 30's I chose to be more of a social person indulging in hanging out and not working out. After losing my mom to cancer and COPD, and witnessing my father going through his own cancer diagnosis and heart disease, I decided now is the time to become an advocate for me. I've been running and walking and eating organic, whole foods for the last two years and I feel so much better! I do have to work on my sleep hygiene but it is a process. I love myfitnesspal to help keep me on task to make better choices for food and to track activity. I would love to connect with anyone regarding their experiences with running and yoga or how to keep active during the colder darker months of winter.
Happy Logging!

Hi Welcome! I have been on and off my fitness pal for years. I had a gastric sleeve last October and lost way 2 much weight but I am trying to eat now to fatten up because I started at 256 and now only weigh 116. I have plenty of friends on here are active again as I gain weight. My diary was very clean for a whole 13 months with working out. Please excuse my diary now due to gaining as much weight as I can by eating every 2 hours. Feel free to befriend me and I will support your journey! I love fitness as well! I think it's great that you have found much needed time for yourself to work towards healthier goals! I wish u the very best for you and your husband.🤗

Welcome to mfp! I'm so sorry for your losses... I'm sorry I can't help as I'm not into yoga and can't get into running till after my physical therapy sessions are over but even then I'm more of a slow jogger. I hope this tidbit I heard encourages you: losing weight is 80% what you eat and only 20% exercising. I dont know if it's true but i read one study backing it. Plus I lost weight with mindful eating while not being able to really exercise due to drunk driver hitting me at 90mph on the freeway.
