Updated the ticker to reflect the new month
I have 7 weeks until my next half marathon, so this month will basically will aim for approximately 50k/week total, however I choose to break it up and fit it into my schedule.
February goal 100 miles (stretch goal 200 km)
Upcoming races:
Feb. 8 - Lublin night 10k (plus Parkrun in the morning)10 -
Hot sticky morning this morning. I did 7k. Used my 25s, no niggles from yesterdays run at all so I'm guessing it's just nerves about new shoes. I ALWAYS get nervous about new shoes.
Working in theatre (operating room) today so that should be fun!

Feb - goal 150k
Feb 1 - 7.2k
Feb 2 - 5k
Feb 3 - 7k
Total: 19.2
Run streak - 45 days9 -

Although I would have gotten a used Jeep had a better deal/color come along when my last lease was up. I was not going to drive a BRIGHT *kitten* yellow and black jeep. LOL
I'm not gonna lie - I'd be more interested in the Jeep if I found a bright yellow one.I can highly recommend a hyundai. I have an I30 and its definitely peppy. We have a Mazda axela (Mazda 3) and the hyundai is way better at up and go than the Mazda.
Though no idea about braks though, it brakes really well...
My husband had a Hyundai back when, too. He also said they put out a good product.@Camaramandy648 I'm excited and anxious and ready! I second Avidkeo on Hyundai. I had an Accent, drove it back and forth to work every day for nine years and never put one penny into it above routine maintenance. Not a cent, and it a reliable car. Someone smashed into me and totalled it but if it hadn't happened, I'd still be driving it! Good car!
The Accent is exactly the Hyundai I'm eyeing. I'm hoping to go look at a grey 2009 model, tomorrow.

Welcome! And to clear something up... walking is when you keep one foot on the ground at all times. Running is when there is a point in your stride when both feet are off the ground. Jogging is when you are at for a run and find a dead body. We all try to avoid that, so welcome runner!14 -
My running goals for 2020 are to build up endurance and speed while staying healthy. Strength goal - lose body fat and gain some muscle and work on flexibility.
February goal : 60 miles
Race: Cap 10K in April
Date/Distance:
2/1 - Yoga/strength day
2/2 - 7 miles
Monthly total - 7 miles
Such a gorgeous day for a run. My hip flexor is sore so I felt a little gimpy but I finished the Dutch House on Audible - and yes, was weepy while running haha so I didn't notice my hip too much! Slow time but no worries😎9 -
I started out February with a 21 mile training run yesterday. My best friend is running the marathon with me (it will be her first), so this run was her longest to date. I am happy to say that I felt pretty awesome for the whole run. I had the “runner’s high” around 16 and felt like I could go forever. Unfortunately, that is around the time when my friend started to have issues. I slowed down significantly to stick with her and keep her going. I am so proud of her though for making it through. I think she was pretty bummed though.
We then went out with a group of friends for my birthday dinner, and I ate my weight in Mexican and margaritas. So good.
Today, I just did 1 mile to get the muscles moving, and I plan to do some yoga.

I said 7 miles, so I delivered 7 miles.

@autumnblade75 - I love Honda's so my vote is for the Fit. My friend has a Fit with over 250,000 miles on it that's still going strong. My Civic had over 160,000 on it when I sold it to a friend 4 years ago and it's still running fantastic. My Accord has 120,000 miles on it now and I am planning to drive it until it dies. I have never done anything beyond basic maintenance.
Good luck with the car shopping, it's my least favorite thing to do too.0 -
Happy Birthday @marisap2010 . Glad you were there to help your friend. Mexican is a great way to celebrate a good run and the day you were born.
I was able to get my run in yesterday before going to my nephew's so my dad could play with the great grandson on his birthday. I ran 2.5 miles and walked 0.75. Today was a rest day.
Check out the spoiler if you want to see some cute baby pictures.
My 88 year old dad and his 9 month old great grandson
He had a little bit of dad's birthday cake. His very first cake experience.
Shawn and my 84 year old mom.
Giving my mom kisses - and pulling her hair!
It was a long afternoon. Time for some down time.

Happy Birthday @marisap2010! And congrats on enjoying your 21 mile run. I can safely say that I have never uttered those words after a 20+ miler.3

Happy Birthday @marisap2010!
And I am trying not to be jealous of all y'all getting runner's high. I started running as an adult in 2003, I have multiple ultra-marathons, and shorter races under my belt... and I have never experienced it. I am suspicious it is a joke y'all are in, at my expense really.6 -
SUNDAY UPDATE - Pastor Vincent vs Boston!
For those new/or with short memories I recently hired a coach to help me run faster - with the goal of a BQ in 2021. It is probably an unrealistic goal, but I am not getting any younger, so going for it. Several people like to know what the coach has in for me so I post each week what the coach's plan was, and what I actually did.
This week I was a very bad client.
DAY :::: PLAN :::: ACUTAL
Monday :::: 8 miles + 10x100m strides :::: Followed plan
Tuesday :::: Rest Day ::::: Rest Day
Wednesday :::: 10 miles :::: 13 miles
Thursday :::: 5 miles ::::: 0 Miles
Friday :::: Rest Day :::: 5 miles on dreadmill
Saturday ::::: 15 miles ::::: 5 miles on dreadmil - MGP
Sunday ::::: 5 miles ::::: 15 miles
Total Miles: Plan 43, Actual 47
Ah well, maybe next week I will be a better client and follow directions Really I would have but life gets in the way and you have to juggle things. I talk with coach every day so we just work it out.

@PastorVincent I wouldn't say you were a bad client. You got everything done, just on different days. I rarely get to do what my plan calls for on the correct days. But I try to sort of follow it. Of course, I'm not trying to qualify for Boston either.1

@shanaber 39k/wk. I am here because I want to lose weight, but having a scale no. as a goal is no good for me. So my first goal was to run 5k without stopping.
2nd goal once I'd done 5k was to go 10k, then 16k. So I got to 39k, because I dont want to run more than 4 times a week but I want to do a 5k a 10k a 16k and one other. 8k seemed a good compromise. So thats how I decided to go for 39k a week.
Anyway things were better today. So maybe its a blip, I usually have one after I hit a goal.4 -
Managed 16k tonight through sheer bloody mindness. I think I may be better off running in the morning.
1. Run 10k without interval.................
2. Ttl no of runs 14+...........................2
3. Total distance 110k+......................21km
4. Long Run 17k+.................................16km
5. Strength training x3 wk...................
6. Weight goal coming up..................6 -
Hi all!
Just signed up for a half marathon at the beginning of May so this is perfect timing to find this challenge group! I’ve been feeling like I need a little extra accountability to stick with my weekly workouts that my Garmin has been setting for me. I’m going to aim for 75 miles for February! Good luck meeting your goals, everybody!

I'm going to agree with all this. The birthday wishes and the thoughts about 20+ mile runs.1 -

February Goal: 100 Miles
2/2: 10.05 miles
10.05/100 miles completed for February
120.31/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
I had a pretty nice 10 mile run this morning. It was perfect starting out at around 55°F, but it warmed up to above 70° by the end so the last few miles were kind of tough. I am definitely not acclimated to the heat yet, but the forecast for Wednesday is a wintry mix, so I guess there will still be more cold before it gets really hot. I was a lot slower than usual, but I figure your long run should be a little slower so that's ok.
