When I notice a cycle of M.I.A in a person. One minute they are there then gone the next. Repeat.
I usually stay away from people who work this way.2 -

Someone who is unkind to service staff, speaks poorly of his ex or is a deadbeat parent.3

- Use of circular arguments
- Gaslighting
- Lovebombing (showering one with excessive and expensive gifts as a means of keeping you around)
- Not respecting personal boundaries
- Never apologizes even when actually wrong
- Do as I say, not as I do attitude
- Have to walk on eggshells at all times, cautious of what you say
- Can't take constructive (or other) criticism, but has no problem dishing it out
- Thinks it's totally okay to use the "n" and "c" words simply because they know a PoC or a woman (uh, no dude)
- Thinks being charming glosses over subtle racism
- Refers to exes or people they don't like in ways that dehumanize them
- Thinks it's okay to poke fun of you, but gets super offended when you do it to them in a teasing manner
- Perceives slights when none are present
- Drinks every day and is a high-functioning alcoholic

Holy crap, most of that describes my ex. Other than the lovebombing, he complained bitterly about any money he spent on gifts for me. (And I don't think he ever expressed an opinion on vaccination, that I can remember.)
Add: becomes enraged when you refuse to loan him money to pay off his credit card debt1 -
