    Good morning all~~

Yesterday I threw away my planning to make meals from scratch, because I was tired and lazy. I went to the store and bypassed the rotisserie chicken and bought a fried chicken in a bucket, macaroni salad that was featured next to it, and then some milk, etc.

When I filled up my plate in the kitchen, I took a lot of chicken--all my favorite pieces. I couldn't simply flip that switch to eat only until somewhat full. The feeling was extremely strong that I needed to eat the two thighs, leg, and a wing. It was as if my spirit, not my body, needed that fried comfort food.

I will be needing to be relying, at least for a while, on keeping myself from getting too hungry, so that my (alleged) meal planning, with portion control, will be what helps me to lose the weight.

When I get my head straighter, I will be able to revisit the idea of finding a skinny person's way of eating until comfortably full.

    Good morning to all!

My plan went a bit awry this week, however scale is only up .2 from last Monday. I feel it will be down before the week is out. Yesterday, I was not able to drink enough water due to travel and I had a huge salad with lots of salty olives. A lot of the weight I have today is water. Still aiming for that 160 by March 12, but will be happy just to get back in the 170s and get my inflammation under control again.

Craving sugar cookies, but I resisted them in Walmart this morning. Bought Whole Milk Greek Yogurt and sausage patties for breakfast. I have chicken and salmon with buttered brussels sprouts this week. I have almonds for a snack. My plan is to fast after 2 pm every day.

This week's treat will have nothing to do with weight loss. If I can stay under my carb goal all week, I will buy myself a new pair of jeans this weekend. We can wear jeans to work now and most of mine are faded or stretched.

    Good morning!
My weight is up as well this AM - all that good superbowl food and drink. I can feel my sausagy fingers. I did not overeat. But did not eat the best foods either.
Beck - typically I feel like I don't overeat - I know that feeling and do not like it. But I likely still eat too much. I have been trying to remain vigilant about being mindful in my eating.
Lana - I agree with you about the sunshine. We had lots of it yesterday and it felt wonderful!
Sara - great job on the morning walking!
Dawn - glad your Chiefs won
    Have a great Monday!

    TUESDAY

    Good morning,

Dog woke me up so she is fed and I will go back to sleep.

Friend from work with bone cancer is having her hair cut/colored nearby today so I will meet her and have lunch. I can show her how the first baby blanket is coming along.

Must get walking in this morning to counter balance some of my calories!

    Wave to all who follow.

    Good morning Ladies~~

Tracy - New jeans is the perfect way to treat yourself! Everyone knows about fitting into smaller sized clothes as being a wonderful reward for losing weight, but there is something about jeans that are super-special!

Sara - So good that you can have lunch with your friend. What a challenge she is facing.
What color is the baby blanket?

Lynn - I can relate to the sausage fingers. Gah!

I need to plan my meals for today. I must get cracking this week! I want to be "on a roll" in the right direction again.

    Good morning!
Busy planning my daughter's shower - it is this Saturday already! I do NOT thrive on party planning/going. I am an introvert, so this is stressful, but I am trying very hard to make her feel like all is great! My older daughter is matron of honor, so she is helping me in spirit, but lives in CO, so she is flying home and will help set up and run the thing, but all else is on me. Whew! Anyway, will go fine and be fun, but I am really dreading it. I just like to stay home with my dog LOL.
Sara - have a great lunch. How great it is of you to have lunch with her.
Lana - hello! giving you a push to assist with that roll in the right direction
Tracey - jeans at work??? that would be nice. The few times they allow dress down here I never wear jeans, because I am in same boat. Not much for nice jeans - lots of skirts and dress pants.
    Have a great Tuesday!

Lynn- your desire to do well will override your fear/stress of your daughter's shower.

Supposedly we can now wear jeans at work, but my jeans are so worn out that I would have to buy new ones.... not ready to do that yet.

    Wishing all a good night.

    WEDNESDAY

    Good morning,

    Up for dog.

Friends hair is shorter than she planned but it looks much better and as it was cold she put her hat back on. I had Chinese and she had Korean which we have leftovers from. She is supposed to eat more seaweed, so we bought dried seaweed to snack on and to put in soup.

Not much on tap today. Need to walk and then we shall see.

    Good morning Sara~~

Lynn - Would you consider asking one or two of your daughter's closest friends to come a bit early to help you or ask them to run an errand? Is it in your home? Can you hire a cleaning service to help out the day before?
I often hear that many of us never reach out for help, and we ought to from time to time.
Use positive self-talk to bolster yourself. As you often tell us...."you got this!"

🔵 Beck Day 19 - Stop Fooling Yourself

Beck seems to have two things combined into this one Day: deluding yourself about food and
    Weighing and Measuring.

So today is our Day 19.1 - Fooling yourself
Beck says "Dieters have an amazing ability to delude themselves about food."
"Read the following list of self-deluding sabotaging thoughts and check off those that you've had in the past:
    It's not a whole piece.
I'll eat it only this one time.
    It's not that fattening.
I'll make up for it by eating less later.
    It won't matter.
    I paid for it.
    It'll go to waste.
    I'll disappoint someone if I don't.
    Everyone else is eating it.
    I'm celebrating.
No one will see me eating it.
    It's just the crumbs.
    It's free.
    I really want it.
    It's a special occasion.
    I'm upset, and I just don't care.
I'm craving it, and I'll probably just eat it eventually." (end Beck quote)

I, Lana, will add one more: This is rare and unusual food, so I'd better not miss this opportunity to have it.

Question: Do you have your own delusional thoughts to add?

Beck asks us to question what is going on in our minds right before we eat something that is not on our plan. She also says to make a Response Card to pull out when we are at risk of not following our plan.
    "It's Not Okay
It's not okay to eat unplanned food of any kind. I'm just trying to fool myself. Every single time I eat something I'm not supposed to, I strengthen my giving-in muscle and weaken my resistance muscle. I might feel good for the few seconds I'm eating, but I'll feel bad afterwards. If I want to lose excess weight and keep it off, I absolutely must stop fooling myself." (end Beck quote)

This reminds me of No Choice.
    Jeez this was long.
    Still more on this tomorrow.

    Hi
I will make up for this later - THAT is my go to mantra! unfortunately I do not. That one I wrote down as a must stop saying! Also I'll disappoint someone if I don't. Been working hard at not saying that one!
Thanks for suggestions Lana - thank goodness - NO not at my house. My oldest and the future MIL are and will be a big help. I am a perfectionist - just want it all to go great - which it will. And I will put myself out there and mingle and have fun. Then go home put my feet up and have a drink
Waves to Sara - enjoy your day! Do something good for you!
Waves to Dawn, Tracy and all others who pop by!

So many doctor appointments and tests that I feel like I have spent a week at the hospital. Having some female issues and family doctor sent me to specialist who sent me to another specialist and then another.... All those doctors and tests and still no real answers. One thing did come out of one appointment - doctor did tell me that I do need to lose 15+ pounds to eliminate snoring so I (and DH) can get a better nights sleep. I do desperately want to be able to get more restful sleep!

DH has agreed to start eating healthy but he wants to eat up what "bad" food is still in the house. I am trying to get him to choose some recipes out of several diabetic cookbooks but he keeps turning up his nose. He is aggravating.

Work has been stressful with all the new tasks I have been given and the deadlines keep changing. :s Trying to eat right is serious challenge. I am so tempted to stress/emotional eat. Have given in a time or two. I know I need to get onboard with the Beck book but it seems I never have time to sit and read, let alone make cards and such. Trying to carve out time to do anything is getting more and more difficult. :(

Lynn - oh good - it's not at your house! Whew!

Kathryn - Jeez, I hope that you get a diagnosis and some treatment for whatever is ailing you. I assume that they have done abdominal and pelvic ultrasound? It must be frustrating to be sent from doctor to doctor.

You don't have time for the Beck right now. Just read what we manage to post, and try to be mindful. Take the pressure off of yourself. Most of all, give yourself CREDIT for every tiny good thing you do.

As for DH and the healthy eating, take the focus off of him and put it on you. YOU choose the recipes out of his cookbook that appeal to you and make them. Donate the "bad" food to a charity/food bank.

It sounds as if I have a lot of advice to "tell you". Sorry. It is sent to Indiana with care and good vibes 💐

Sleeping in today - still up in the middle of the night, but a huge improvement over last week. Changed meds and take melatonin before bed. (ask dr first my dr suggested it)

Lana - you are being wonderful with words of wisdom. Those struggling to keep up with the Beck book - and sometimes it is me- Lana said it, use what you can to stop the flood of food being inserted into face for reasons of stress. This week it is Chinese food and the added salt.

Kathryn - wow - I hope they figure out what is going on soon. If I am really paying attention I try and walk off some of my eating - your cute dog there- can he use a walk or play time? Can you hog the TV and watch your favorite shows one night? Know that there will be a solution at the end of all this crazy medical "dancing" .

I could say yes to about a handful of that list up there. Key for me is to not have it in the house. Sounds easy.....

Okay enough of my essays. Off to walk.

    THURSDAY

    Good morning,

Dog up and fed. Cold breeze again today so walking only after sun comes up.

Lady I bought dog food from didnt call me back, so I will call her again. Almost out of dog food and Miss T will not tolerate that well. She just gives me that pleading look and I go all stupid.

Chinese food is done and no eating out for rest of week, maybe. So focus on water and walking

    Hello!
Sara - I am very happy for your doggo  My dog would cause all kinds of issues if she went hungry lol. She is always hungry.
Lana - Hello! So I did it today. Rationalized having a cookie. It was good, but I did not use my NO CHOICE card.
    sigh.

Lana - thank you. yes, I have had ultrasounds, MRI, and MRT. i feel like a pincushion from the bloodwork. i will start cooking things i like and see if DH decides to partake. (i have found a stack of fast food receipts - so if he is not eating at home, he eats out which doubly irks me - not just his health, but our money! grrrr...)

Sara - yes, i do need to give Callahan more exercise and playtime. i do need to make more time for him. Cal will never go hungry. he has a set route that he walks through the neighborhood, stopping at each house for biscuits and hugs. a spoiled pup, for sure!

Lynn - good luck with all the preparations! i am sure it will be great, it just seems daunting until its over!

was within my calorie budget last night! will try to duplicate that again. also going back through past days to see when/how i stayed within calories and will try to use those as a "template" for food choices.

    Hello All~~
Better late than never....I've been busy getting ready to leave NC on Saturday.

    🔵 Beck Day 19.2
She has a section called Measuring Up
Beck says "If your diet calls for you to measure the quantity of food you are supposed to eat, don't fool yourself into thinking you can accurately estimate it instead. Dieters who don't measure or weigh their food are notorious for underestimating their portions." (end Beck)

A tip from Lana's old WW leader: Weigh and measure your food and then STOP and LOOK at it to learn what a cup of this or a tablespoon of that looks like in the bowl, or on the plate, or in the frying pan....
