We are doing a lot of hiking lately and it’s so wonderful to get out into the forest. Yesterday we saw a quetzal pair, male and female! That was on my life list! I ate smaller portions yesterday and stayed within calories for a deficit but those 500 calories leave me feeling hungry!

Hey everyone! I took a long break from these challenges, but I've continued to weigh in daily on Happy Scale and celebrated my small victories to myself lol. However, since I was hospitalized late last year for something that could've taken my life, I've been having trouble losing weight! I think my body has been trying to recuperate after that and plus I got the flu and sinusitis on Christmas and I'm still taking meds from that to this day. I want to have some additional accountability to get these extra 6ish pounds off that I've been struggling with for 4 months now since I was hospitalized!

02/07 242.6. Feels good to be taking steps to address the weight issue instead of continuing to surrender to it. Logging food is a must this time. Decided I wasn't hungry at breakfast so with the exception of a splash of skim in my coffee I have bee 15 hours between meals. Time for lunch now! Will keep it "between the lines."

2/7 161.1 5 miles I almost cried looking at the scale this morning. I was under on calories and not particularly high on sodium. I can only guess that I might be retaining water from my weight lifting the night before and 5 miles yesterday. Staying positive is very challenging these days. I am happy that I'm more than 10% of my walking goal for the year. That's good news. I tried on a size 12 pair of jeans yesterday - that's good news considering I was in a 20 when I started. That's good news. The 14s are a little loose so I'm not losing pounds but something is happening.12 -
After tomorrow I will not be able to weigh again until Feb 21 or 22. So I'm going to focus on habits. Hopefully everyone will be ok with me reporting on habit achievement instead of weight.
Here's the way I plan to "game" this. Points for different habits while on my trip, structured to reward behaviors that I know are challenging when I travel
Tracking: 1 for tracking + 1 if complete by bed + 1 for each meal tracked before eating next meal (3 max/day) + 2 for pre-tracking at least one meal--Max of 7 points/day
Exercise: 1 for walking >30 min + 1 for walking >60 min + 1 for yoga stretches + 2 if I ran that day--or the day prior! (to incentivize keeping to a run every other day schedule) + 2 for strength training (incentive since I often skip)--Max of 7 points/day
Journal: 2 for journaling + 1 if I journaled the day before (incentivize keeping up a streak)--Max of 3/day
Sleep: 1 if lights out-to-alarm on is >6 hours + 1 if >7 hours + 3 if >8 hours--Max of 5/day
Example for today, 2/6--Total as of 10am is 7/22
Tracking: 4 so far (tracked, pretracked, tracked breakfast before eating lunch)

Mileage goal for 2020: 634 miles
Completed distance - 65.7 mile
2/7 161.1 5 miles I almost cried looking at the scale this morning. I was under on calories and not particularly high on sodium. I can only guess that I might be retaining water from my weight lifting the night before and 5 miles yesterday. Staying positive is very challenging these days. I am happy that I'm more than 10% of my walking goal for the year. That's good news. I tried on a size 12 pair of jeans yesterday - that's good news considering I was in a 20 when I started. That's good news. The 14s are a little loose so I'm not losing pounds but something is happening.
@shunggie Ah, the scale will come down, as you know from your experience because of the amount of weight you've already lost! I'm just so inspired by the fact you walked 5 miles and the going from a size 20 to now being able to try on a pair of 12 jeans! Wow! Those are definitely things to celebrate! I, too, can tell from my rowing that things are changing even if the scale doesn't every day.10
