Juice Cleanse - worthwhile or worthless?

My wife wanted to start out our journey doing a three day juice cleanse.
They are very expensive and the more I read the more it seems like we should just eat more fruit and veggies and drink more water and we'll be doing the same thing. Many people say they are more harmful than good.

They mainly clean out your wallet.
Your organs clean themselves. It is a bad idea.8 -
At best it's worthless.
The chance of truly hurting yourself on a three day juice "cleanse" is small (assuming no underlying health conditions), but since there's no real benefit, why take the chance? You'll probably get much more enjoyment from just eating a variety of fruits and vegetables along with other foods that you enjoy.6 -
Stock up on toilet paper. Juice cleanses at best clean out your wallet and bowels. At worse organ damage.9

A juice cleanse is worthless. What exactly would it cleanse you of?4

Waste of money but also a waste of good fibre.
If you have money to spare for a juice cleanse, then you have money spare for one of those workout programs you don't want to buy8 -

Yeah, check the prices and you'll probably make the choice right there. I buy juice "cleanse" packages from my local shop from time to time when I'm not tolerating solid food well. It's about $150 for three days of six juices a day. That's for one person. For me, it's totally worth it at those times because it's at least some calories and nutrition, but I find it to be extremely expensive and totally unnecessary when I can just eat real food.1 -

What exactly do you think you have that would be cleansed? Do you have something diagnosed by a doctor, and if so, why isn't the doctor prescribing a treatment?
I think the worst thing is the people selling these things will say your insides need cleansing to sell you cleansing supplements, and then turn around with articles about how we don't have diverse gut bacteria because our modern world is so antiseptic, so now buy their pro/pre-biotic supplement. Lather, rinse, repeat until your wallet is holistic, but empty.5
