I love that @hanlonsk put her thoughts on the current ‘situation’ in a spoiler. It would be great to be able to keep this thread mostly about running as it’s such a great topic, and if we want to talk about the 'situation’ we can, but if we don’t, it’s easy to avoid.
I vote all discussion of the virus that is not directly related to our personal running experience be henceforth be put in a spoiler.
Agreed?
For those who don’t know how, preface you text with the word spoiler in square brackets and the same at the end but with the addition of a slash - like this: /spoiler (but in square brackets: [ ] )

@ContraryMaryMary I think that is a wonderful idea.3

I have a question about all the parents with kids having to stay at home. Do you allow them to do FaceTime or something similar with their friends? I would think doing something like a group FT would be fun for them to talk and be goofy or just interact a bit the way they do at school or when playing together.
I also love the virtual tours that @Avidkeo did with her kids. What a great idea - so many places have put up fun virtual tours. Heck I enjoy them!
No run today but I did make myself do 90 minutes of strength training with 3 sets of 10 different exercises. I pulled out my adjustable weight set and discovered that while it should theoretically have 40lbs of weights as advertised, it doesn't - spread into 2 dumbbells each only have 18.6lbs which oddly bugs me to no end. But I got enough done that I am sure to be a bit sore tomorrow.5 -
Spent my day buying supplies - got mostly everything except cleaning products.
Mini quilts! I like minis because they allow me to explore the history of quilting and the fun of design without the time and expense. You can make a lot of minis from someone else’s scraps. I’ve done about a billion of these, most are on a dollhouse bed somewhere. The one thing I can’t figure out how to do well in miniature is a pieced wedding ring - I’m thinking I may cheat and print the wedding rings then piece them together.8 -
@PastorVincent @janejellyroll we Brits call that a Swiss Roll! Don’t know why. And being fans of stodgy desserts we also make a lard pastry version called quite charmingly a Jam Roly-Poly. It’s very old fashioned though so you don’t see it much.
Very impressed by the crafty and creative folk on here. I do loads with my classes at school then come home and can’t be bothered. Guess my outlet is playing the piano but my garden really needs me to develop some green fingers because we have definitely gone beyond shabby chic into just shabby now.
Sun is still shining - almost like it’s taunting us in these times- but it was chilly this morning. Got around 6K done and shortly going to go and wake the kids up.
Hang in there everyone - and again, big thanks to any medics. In the UK we had a national round of applause for our NHS workers last night at 8pm. Everyone came to their doors and windows for it and there was cheering, banging, even fireworks. Such a moving and special gesture. Stay safe all x

That is a great link @quilteryoyo and I will join you there.
A few days burying my head and doing a house clean up so I apologise I have not read the all 347 posts though I hope you are all striding boldly forward where you can.Well there are some unexpected bonuses to mini-quarantine in the UK. Spring cleaning found a box with over £1k got from selling a car and was going to use to buy a new one but never did. Old £10 notes so I have to wait until the banks re-open to swap them. Using all the foods we bought in an adventerous moment and didn't try and even going to bake to use the best before January flour. The 2015 ryvitas had to go - though I'm pretty sure they would have tasted exactly the same as when they were in date!
Happy Friday, stay safe 😊

I think I might have heard them called Swiss Roll too. Okay, I just looked and according to Wikipedia, there are several names: Swiss roll, jelly roll, roll cake, or cream roll, or Swiss Log.

Oooh and chocolate ones too! I admit I made a pumpkin roll a couple days ago and it was a fail. Tasted great, but my pan was too small for the amount of batter and the resulting cake was thick and broke when I tried to roll it.
I biked today. Felt better than last time, also wasn't windy like the other day. So I went a little farther, almost 12k. I'd like to build up my bike rides to double that, but will have to do so over time as it's not exactly flat around my house.5 -

Sounds like you just have to make another one! And keep at it until it is just right, then make more to give out3 -
If we are telling people what the can and cannot post here or how to post I will be out. This is absolutely *kitten* ridiculous. This is affecting everyone and we can't just pretend it's not happening. I keep seeing runners and triathletes saying they tested positive. It's real. It's here. And people need to *kitten* accept it and stay the *kitten* home.
Guess what? My state is *kitten* hiding/manipulating numbers and saying don't test anymore. I just received word that two people have it that work in the same areas as some of my employees. My DH has a coworker who came to work after his MIL supposedly tested positive. Coworker won't go home and won't tell management. So others told for him. DH has to go to work today and if that coworker is there he will be leaving. After he lets management know his thoughts on this.
Here's a *kitten* spoiler for you*kitten* OFF. DONT LIKE IT? *kitten* BLOCK ME6 -

Rest day today - maybe just walk. Want to go easy before Sunday attempt at HM.
Our stay at home order begins today at 5, but green ways will be open as long as you follow social distancing. All other things will be closed - playgrounds, athletic courts, bathrooms, etc.
And all non-essential business.
Hoping that I can still manage on Sunday somehow without worry of "breaking" rules.
Heading to work today to see what they expect from us. I work at the state Dental Board, so not sure if we are considered essential or not.
Looking forward to the warmer weather! Oh, and I love swiss rolls! The chocolate kind.7 -

well. nothing i have is running related so I guess I've been censored out of this group too. Enjoy your COVID peeps. I've heard a few accounts where healthcare workers are expected to work despite symptoms @RunsOnEspresso. All some of can do is stay educated and lookout for ourselves. Is the spoiler a part of social distancing now?3 -
My perspective on the spoiler proposal: Outside the virus situation, I've seen stuff on this thread not directly related to running that is either upsetting (because it is a sad or unfortunate personal circumstance) or that I've disagreed with. We're runners, but we've got whole lives outside running that sometimes come up and I'm not sure why COVID would be an exception.
That said, if the rule becomes no uncensored mentions of COVID-19 outside of personal running impacts, I'll respect that. But for most of us, how we're running is interwoven with how we're working, what we're eating, what's going on with our family, and COVID-19 is influencing all of that.8 -

@Elise4270 We can discuss whatever we want in the fat kid thread. I think I'll stick over there since this thread keeps trying to censor my thoughts.3 -

I ask that we not let this divide us or drive people off. We all have faced many things together. We can continue.
Sadly I know of more than one young and healthy person that has died form this in my networks. It is at times like this we need to circle the wagons and come together against the night. The sun will rise again, we will get to the other side of this virus, and other others that come, but while we go through let's commit to uplift each other and be even more mindful than normal of what each of us is facing.
That as always be the core of this thread. Let's hold on to that and keep on keeping on.17 -
Now for something REALLY controversial...My lunch!10
-
I don't think this is actually quilted - but a little running related quilt design idea:
Edited - I did not read the recent posts before posting this, so I was not aware of the spoiler discussion.
I don't think we need to censor what we can talk about here. Of course running is our focus and what brings us together, but things impact us all that we want to talk about. I hope that people will not leave the thread. We are all in this together.
Also, @PastorVincent, now you're starting something. LOL. I'm an equal opportunity condimentist but I only eat hot dogs at a ball game and they kind of gross me out any other time. But yeah, at a game with beer it seems right.
