Women: thoughts on working out during 2WW?!

I just hit the 2nd half of my cycle, the dreaded 2WW. My husband & I have been TTC since 12/10 with no luck yet. We did IUI #1 2 cycles ago which was a bust, then took a cycle off for my HSG (all clear!) so had IUI #2 yesterday. I've read mixed reviews on exercise during the 2WW. I've been working out pretty hard (for my standards...2 months ago I wasn't working out regularly) at 5-7 days a week (4 strength training, 5-7 running / very brisk walking) and don't want to completely slack off because I've hit the 2WW. Do you think it's okay to continue running in the 2WW? Today I adjusted my workout to power walk for 60 minutes at 4.4 mph which was good, but I miss running. I know I shouldn't overdo it, but how much is too much?! I appreciate your feedback & advice :flowerforyou:

We did 3 rounds of clomid, and 2 rounds of follistim/IUI. Sadly it didnt' work for us. If I were you, I would do light workouts. ie: walking, gardening...nothing too strenous. Sending you postiive thoughts that it works...

I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about this too. Hubby and I have been trying for 2+ years and I always take it easy during the 2ww, even though my Dr. said it isn't necessary, I just cant help but think all the moving makes it hard for it to "stick" lol. and going easy 2 weeks every month for the past 2 years is a lot of time wasted not working out to my full potential lol!!

I think you should continue as normal. It's not like you just started exercising like crazy and your body doesn't know what hit it.

If you concentrate on yourself, things will fall into place. I had FSH/pregnyl injections to conceive our 1st, took 16months in total. I finally decided to get a personal trainer, focus on me, lose some weight and lo and behold....2 months later I was preggers!

be yourself and focus on you (hard to do when you are going thru IUI's etc but it's important)

Thank you :) This is round 3 of Clomid. The 1st was 50mg & I didn't use the trigger shot & then 2 100mg with trigger shot & IUI. I'm really hoping this one works, but I try not to get my hopes up too much...getting AF each month is pretty devastating. I've been working out hard for 6ish weeks which has helped keep my mind off TTC & my stress level down. I'm hoping to continue being as active as possible through the 2WW but will probably just stick with power walking instead of running.

I didn't change my exercise routine during the 2WW, but I didn't do IUI. What did your doctor say? Baby dust to you!

I would agree you should stick to a lighter workout like power walking. Why take any chances?

Thank you :) The doctor that did my IUI (on call this weekend) said as long as I wasn't doing anything 'too strenuous' or getting my heart rate up 'too high' I would be fine. That's all relative though, LOL.

Realistically, logically, the working out won't make a difference. I know a woman who kept training for a marathon during early pregnancy and then ran it at 5 months pregnant. A friend took the test for her black belt in tae kwan do the day after her positive pregnancy test. BUT, as someone who knows what infertility feels like I know that it is hard to think logically right now. And if it doesn't happen this month you don't want to wonder if it was something you did or didn't do (you probably will anyway, but no need to add to it) so for that reason I would keep working out, but stick to lower impact activities. If it were me I would just keep it to the same exercise I would continue after a BFP.

And good luck. I hope this is your month.

I'd go to light work outs only. I have had a miscarriage that happened 24 hours after I rode a horse 'hard' as in sweaty long riding. I didn't know I was pregnant as we'd been TTC for so many years we were thinking it'd never happen.
I was beside myself when I realised what had happened and despite reassurances I will never know if I brought it on myself. It's hard to live with that thought even after 5 years.

I have had a baby since, but I consider myself to have 4 children not the 3 I care for every day.

Treat yourself well and you'll have nothing to feel guilty or wonder over then ((hugs))
    P.S. Good luck!!!
