    June 29 - July 5 .......

Success of the week: Yesterday was the first day since April 22 that my trends were all within my ideal six-pound maintenance range. They never went outside of my ten-pound absolute maintenance range even though several daily weights did. The trends/averages got close, but never out. That's a big success. An even better success was when the next day the scale was up, it didn't phase me at all because the trends are still down.

Struggle of the week: I am still concerned about stress eating in part about the pandemic. I still have a few pounds to get my weight stable at the middle or bottom of my ideal goal range, and it does seem to be a struggle sometimes. This is the flip side of my big success this week.

    See you next week!

    Successes/challenges
Success is I've continued eating as planned and maintained weight. Last week I did an extended fast (72 hrs), aiming for increased autophagy benefits - hadn't done one this long since early January. Am back in a better routine with getting up earlier, going to bed earlier, daily exercise.

Challenges: I'm in a bad habit losing too much time to facebook! I'm also a bit indecisive about how to optimise what I'm doing. I've shifted my goal weight/range down a little bit (not sure how low to go), unsure about the right balance of different types of exercise (used to do a mix of running, walking, bodyweight HIIT, yoga; now I'm doing qigong every day, run once a week, walk a couple days) for best health and wellbeing, unsure of best fasting protocols for my current goals. Lose time to researching these ideas, but still none the wiser.

    Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week:
I gained a couple #s after the lockdown. So I lowered my calorie goal and lost them. I have found that I have to stay at the lower calorie goal or gain. I do DVD exercises but I did work harder and longer at the gym. Also less running around at the store and using "pick-ups" plus online shopping adds to needing less calories. At least I have the tools to figure out what to do.

    Successes/struggles:
I’ve been below 49 kg for over two weeks now, weight holding steady now. However, I don’t need to be below 48 kg (I went right down to under 47 last autumn when I was worrying about my son and it was too skinny), so I have to change my mindset. I find it difficult to adapt from watching the scale weight dropping to accepting it staying the same. Really maintenance is a juggling act gaining and losing a couple of lbs over and over.
In a normal year I would go on holiday or short breaks, even days out and then spend a week or two losing the small increase. Now, I’m hardly going anywhere, almost all my meals are sensible home-cooked, so losing the weight I gained post-op was quite easy, but I need to stop now.

Well, I know what to do, either eat more or exercise less, I suppose.

Success/Struggles: So I’ve still been struggling with losing some weight slowly, but I think I’ve found a way to mitigate it! I’m still eating at a slight deficit each day, not because I want to, but by the time I’m done eating and adding up my calories I seem to be a bit under my goal and just not hungry. I’m even eating ice cream sandwiches at night to help close the gap! But, now that things are open again, I’ve been going out with the wife once (or twice) a week and enjoying myself. Nachos, beers, drinks, burgers, fries, you name it. Not all day plowing but a nice long afternoon out eating and drinking. This seems to be helping to “balance” out my small daily deficit by eating about 1,000 calories over once a week. And it’s fun! Yay! Benefits of maintenance, right? You can eat more!

Challenges: Finally having enough free time and mental space to check back in here. Dad passed away at the beginning of last week, and while there were some very lovely moments and meetings in the days afterwards, the plague has definitely changed these sorts of life moments. Thank you for your kind words from last month @425Recess and @Rachelmilloy - I appreciate your support. Having more on my plate (literally and figuratively), being on the road several times over the last month, and being out of my usual routine made eating well and exercising more difficult.

Successes: I managed to get out for a run at least six days a week, kept my activity/steps high, and my weight generally in check. Not to say I didn't have times when I ate the wrong quality of stuff in the wrong quantities, but I've been able to limit it to a day or two and balance out the extra calories later.

    Hang in there, everyone!

Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I have had great success losing/gaining, but I'm hoping this group helps me be more accountable. I weigh only 1x week on Sundays, so that's when I'll check in. My 2 goals in 2020 are to not let the scale go above 153 and weigh in EVERY Sunday for the WHOLE YEAR. This seems easy to most, but I get lazy and make excuses why I don't need to weigh in and then all of a sudden everything in my closet has shrunk. LOL

    June 14th: 147.7 (Trend Weight 146.9)
    June 21st: 146.6 (Trend Weight 146.7)

Successes/Struggles: Scale is down a bit...I'm feeling fine, my clothes still fit, so I'm giving myself some grace. Crazy to think though that I've gained 4lbs in quarantine. Still a tad under my goal though. Maybe this working at home and rarely going out is bad for my health?

We also recently installed a fence in our backyard. Which is great and our dog loves it, but it's making me lazy...less walking with her means less exercise.

Let's see what this week brings! Hope everyone is hanging in there.

I slept like crap and didn’t feel great this morning so I didn’t weigh in. I weighed in most days this week though so trend alone is fine.
I’m moving towards a more plant based diet, at least to try. Starting with being veggie at home once I’ve gotten through what’s in my fridge. If that works well I might take that to always. Not sure. Trying new sources of protein which is kind of fun!
Runs have been going great! Feeling really strong and seem to be on track to meet 200+ miles

Success of the week: My weight trend has continued to moderate back towards my goal, and it's back to where it was April 14, about a week earlier than it was a week ago. I also had an epiphany I posted about in another discussion that had to do with finding an old document that showed my weight about 30 years ago, and it's right above my current goal and smack in the middle of my maintenance range. This helped me realize I'm still successful even though my mass increased in March and April.

Struggle of the week: Two days with scale weight outside my ideal maintenance range, and a couple other disappointing surprises. Still well within the larger 10-pound range that I'm feeling I should pay more attention to.

    June 15 115.5

    Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week:
I'm doing okay, following my meal plans, staying close to calorie goal but I don't have the wiggle room that I use to have. I had a beer Friday out on my deck with husband on nice sunny afternoon and it put be way over my calorie goal. A couple of those in a week and I start to gain. Should I try to get more exercise in? Should I lower my calorie goal? Not sure.

@425Recess I"m the same height and about the same weight as you. 115.5 puts you at 19.7 BMI which is on the lower end. I'm pretty active so I have a hard time seeing how one beer can put you way over your calorie goal. I would think that if you aren't very active then you must be eating at a pretty low daily calorie goal. If so then I would probably try going for an extra walk or something on days I wanted a little extra. Or maybe try eating a little lower 3 or 4 days a week so you can have more on the weekend. And if 115 is too hard (mentally) to maintain you have plenty of room to gain a few pounds and still be quite slim for your height.

Time it took to lose: Started March 2020 (this time around)

Maintenance weight range: Still working that out (Maybe 150-155?)

Starting weight recorded from February: 190.2 (starting weight)
Average weight recorded from March: 178.4
Average weight recorded from April: 166.2

Success/Struggles: Fitting into my new shorts and shirts is a nice bonus. Still losing a bit of weight though, even with my new “blow out” days. Average weight is down this week from week prior. Bought some higher calorie alternative foods last Friday so I’ll see if that helps a bit.

@kgirlhart You're right. One beer won't make me overweight though in my heavier days I would say this one cookie won't hurt but there were too many of those "one cookie" times. Right now, to maintain my weight - something I want to do - I have to kept my calories at a level lower than pre-pandemic days and that's my complaint. If I want a beer now and then or cookies, I have to increase my exercise. Happily, over the years I have learned that I do have a choice. That's significant.
