This is my first round and I am looking for a way to stay on track and stay motivated…

Yesterday was better than expected! It was my wife’s birthday and we went out for a great dinner, where I didn’t really count calories, but rather watched portion sizes. I also made sure that I didn’t snack or “graze” during the day.

07/28 – 235.7
Steps = 16563; It was a great day! 5 mile walk in the morning and light work around the house after that. Stuck to my calorie count and even had a glass of wine! Back to work today so hopefully the stress won’t get me back to the “stress eating”.

Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
July: focus is on improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale
Aims:

2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

Never give up! Never give in!
Back Story:

2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅
2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ So far, so good.
That's a WIN in my book!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.

Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

I have had no motivation since this whole pandemic, also had a health scare and dog died....what a year...it's time I get back on track!

7/26 - didnt weigh in -
7/27 204.8....feeling sad at this weight, I made it down to 188 back in March, but have let myself go since. I have a plan to eat better, excersize more - Let's see where I can be by the end of this small challenge. I'm excited to be a part of the group!

07/28 204.4 I tried really hard to not over eat yesterday, even though I was stressed. Overwhelmed at at work, roof leaked all over (just finished drywall 2 months ago...), and lag bolt snapped off the car while trying to take off the tire the tire to change the bad brakes......yay 2020! Here's to a better day!

07/27: 189.4 - Glad it didn't go up even a smidge. NSV yesterday was eating a small sliver of b-day cake, enjoying it slowly and not wanting more! A small increase would have left me frustrated. I am learning to overcome that!
07/28: 189.4 - Had a hard day yesterday but stuck to the plan and am so glad I did. Today is a new day!

07/27 182.4 Why do I do this to myself? Now I will spend the next week+ just trying to get back to where I was. 😢 I walked into the weekend without planning it, and feeling “low” (energy, spirits) and so I let my “wants” take over. I do think a big part is sodium, but even that will take awhile to flush out.

Comment (07/28): Went to a brewery at lunchtime, yesterday. The State requires that you serve food with all beer purchases. Their only 2 food options were either pizza (2 slices) or a cheeseburger. I adjusted my menu to accommodate that, but I ended-up meeting-up with a friend and having a SECOND lunch at a SECOND brewery (10 x 4 oz samplers, in-total). Skipped dinner, but the damage was already done. Back on track, today.

07/26: 210.2 / A bump up from yesterday, but no surprise. Had my hand in the candy dish and other carbs all day yesterday. And, it was too hot and humid for very much activity outside.
07/27: 210.8 / I guess I will be happy with this for a Monday morning. Way better (4.2# better) than last Monday.
07/28: 209.4 / fingers crossed and mouth shut, I might make it to below 208 this round.

GOAL Weight: 165 lb

1st Round for me!! Goal for this round is just to make some downward progress.

Round 121 SW: 186.6 (on 7/25/20)

7/26 – 185.9- This is a glorious day as I have been recently struggling with the 187 speedbump. I’ve now had TWO days under 187 and I think it’s going to stick!
7/27 – 186.2– Not surprising, because I had some rice with a little soy sauce with dinner last night and that always makes me retain a little water.
7/28 – 186.3– I guess that exciting “dip” was just a tease. That’s okay. It is cardio day on the stationary bike so hopefully I’ll get this moving back in the other direction.

07/26 DNW, but it’s good to be back at a deficit and so much easier after the break. I’d been struggling a bit before, so I’m hoping the reset helps with adhering to my diet. I didn’t weigh in this morning because I was camping last night. First weigh in will be tomorrow.
07/27 202.6. I’m pretty happy about this since it was what my last and lowest weigh in was before the diet break. I’ve only been back at a deficit for two days.
07/28 200.8. Wow. I expect it will bump up a bit since that's the way the process goes, but I'm really glad that the diet break I took didn't derail me from losing.

It’s a lovely morning but heating up fast. Birthday cake on tap for DH, but I’m planning the rest of my day to compensate, and will be spreading soil in my new garden bed, so that should burn a few calories. I’m determined to lower my calorie average by at least 100 this round, and to up my exercise. Have a gorgeous Sunday, all. Be safe & healthy. 🌸❤️🌼🥗🌻

Oooh, the cake was good. And lasagna for DH’s birthday dinner. Salad today, baby! I did do a couple hours worth of hard labor in the garden — I’m turning the lawn at one side of the house into flowers, so schlepped a lot of 40-lb bands of soil around. More today, then compost. Better than the gym!

Cake + no walk due to lightning + a bit of munching last night = bloat + weight gain. Back with the program today. I want to get back to running, so am thinking of doing a round of C25K starting tomorrow. Planning a nice walk this evening. I’m off to buy more soil — I have about half the lawn covered for my side-yard garden. Yesterday was horrible hot, but it’s lovely today, so I need dirt! These days, I dream in flowers.
