Inspiration

I'm not really new to MFP, but I am in desperate need of some inspiration. I'm sitting here alone. My husband and child are both in bed. You know how there are times when you can no longer hide the truth from yourself? Most of the time, I can put my mind on so many other things that I don't mind being overweight. But there are times, like now, when it just hits me. I'm looking down at my rolls and wondering where they came from. Could it have been from the Flamin hot cheetos I ate earlier? I've been struggling for a long time now to get back on track. I admire my husband. He sets a goal and he works for it. He works hard. Am I lazy or is it something else?

My question to you is, what inspires you to eat right. What inspires you to exercise? I've never enjoyed being sweaty and uncomfortable. It could be a mind thing, but I just can not understand how a person could actually say they like working out with a straight face. I cannot get myself thrilled with eating grilled chicken and veggies for dinner. Am I doomed to either be negative and forget the whole losing weight thing? Or struggle through blah meals and watching the clock workouts? I don't know.

I know you all are amazing and motivated so please tell me how you learned to like these things.

Hi. I'm not really new either, but I've only recently gotten motivated and lost my first 7 pounds. What happened to me was two things...First I finally came to the realization that I could NOT have my cake and eat it, too. It was either veggies and exercise-or be fat. Period. Second, I realized that the whole country is eating wrong including my family, and that social pressure was
EXTREME, so my new WOE had to be my own personal priority. One I am now willing to actually make a priority without all the excuses. Watching the movie called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead helped me stay motivated through difficult days. I suppose these things are different for everyone, but that's my story.

That's so true. The options are simple, I guess I just like to complicate it in my mind.

Thanks for the response! I'm already feeling a little more positive!

You have to find the right exercise for you...one that you enjoy. If you don't like sweating...maybe you want to take up swimming or water aerobics. You can get some really great workouts from that. I have found things that I love to do and I have found that I don't mind the sweating any more!

As far as eating...it doesn't need to be bland. Find ways to make the food interesting...I never really liked veggies much, but I am starting to...I am trying new things and actually liking them. Roast the veggies or grill them...I had roasted califlower and zucchini/yellow squash with my chicken breast (with Italian seasonings) today and actually like them! You can do this! Ask your husband or a good friend to be there with you as you start...it has made all the difference in my journey! Take care and my best to you!!! :flowerforyou:

Thank you! Things have been going so well in the other areas of my life and I would just love to get this one under control. I think I partly need an attitude adjustment. I need to stop dreading these things and experiment and enjoy the ride. Ok...I'm officially inspired!

I've been overweight my whole life, and whenever I tried losing weight, I found it really hard to get inspired and get moving. Partly because I didn't have the right tools and support to do it..and partly because I was trying to do it all on my own. And it became more of a chore to me.

But now I've changed my perception of weightloss entirely. It's no longer a chore to me. I'm not going to lie..it wasn't easy, but you'll get there with the right mindset. I've started to look forward to waking up everyday, and plan my meals, exercise and experience the changes in my body. I've learned to enjoy different forms of exercise and push myself harder each time.

When starting my journey, my biggest inspiration was to lose weight before going to the UK for my study trip. Now, my biggest inspiration would be to regain back my life, to make up for the past few years that I've suffered miserably due to the excess weight and baggage. I'm tired of making excuses for losing weight...because I can't afford to lose anymore time.

It's a huge lifestyle change, and I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. I know you can do this..you've gotten so far already! Do feel free to add me as a friend and we can keep each other motivated! xx
