Ready for round 121 {58th for me}
OSW 88KG
RSW 59.15 kg (-28.85kg) or {-63.6 lbs}
I reached my ultimate goal of 58kg in round 118 then totally sabotaged myself ending up the biggest I've been this year! Goal this round is to finish at 59.x kg. Also starting a new training regime for a month so I'll see how that affects weight and measurements
07/26 60.1kg...late night wine and nuts on top of no activity . Not like the new me. Today will be better
07/27 61.25kg before workout but still not good. Starting new exercise program this week. Let's see how it goes. Similar pattern to last week. Need to stop weekend excess
07/28 61.0kg before workout which is all about heavy lifting. Looking to get leaner and stronger even if weight doesn't go down much.
07/29 60.1kg.
07/30 60.80kg before workout. {60.05kg after} Muscles ache!
07/31 60.50kg before and 60.05 after
08/01 60.50kg no workout at the weekend
08/02 61kg...no workout and no tracking over the weekend. Hope to get back inside maintenance next week and keep up the strength training.

07/25 …..210.0….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/26 …..210.0 ….. Good luck everyone this round!
07/27 …..210.2 ….. fluctuation.
07/28 …..209.8 ….. One of the many things I’m going thru right now is the health of my very last pet, my cat Reeces. She is just over 20 years old . Diagnosed about 8 months ago with kidney issues (mild liver issues too). Her health began deteriorating severely and rapidly over the weekend. Her weight dropped quickly and I’ve been having to dropper feed her water, flavorless pedialyte and lactose free milk. No vet open on the weekends in this rural area. She began to do a little better on the eating front and is eating bits of cat food too, but her weight is down to 4 pounds (usually about 5.5 in her older age). I know that suffering does not always equal pain. For sure, sometimes suffering does not ever involve actual pain at all. So I will travel today to her far-away doctor who has cared for her the entire 20 years and, of course, I will discuss appetite increasing pills, antibiotics etc but I think I already know what he is going to say, so I am trying to prepare myself. I am a total mess right now. In the past 20 years I have had my children grow up and leave. I’ve gotten divorced and been a single mother. I’ve remarried for 15 years and then became a widow. I have had and loved many many dogs and cats (loving pets) in those 20 years. I’ve lost parents, friends, my sister. But Reeces has always been here with me, through it all. My mainstay. Sorry this is so gloomy, friends. I am just beside myself. Please pray for whatever is right for her today. She deserves the very best treatment or send-off, whichever is necessary and humane at this time.
07/29 …..208.1 ….. I always drop weight during sad times.
07/30 …..209.2 ….. I managed to eat a little better but it was a little later for food than I like. I hope the scale tomorrow will be better. My house seems so empty now, I am going to try hard not to fill the void in space and time with food. Thanks again everyone for you comforting words.
07/31 …..209.4 ….. Still in a correction perhaps?
08/01 …..209.4 …..
08/02 …..209.9 ….. Chocolate.

About me:I love learning about food and everything about it; from the way it acts in the body to learning to cook a new recipe. I went to school for nutrition (got my bachelor's) but I didn’t become an RD because it didn’t feel like the path for me. I guess I wanted to keep it as more of an interest instead of a career. I then went into public health to further my education and I currently help medically complex patients by connecting them with community resources to improve their health and life. I enjoy helping family and friends when they ask for advice related to food and nutrition. Plus, it helps me brush up on what I spent so much time learning!Previous days’ entries
I’m here because when I’m not paying attention to what I eat, I start to gain and feel uncomfortable in my body. For me that results in frustration and a lot of other emotions. It has also increased my cholesterol in the past (It’s good now as far as I know thanks to diet and exercise). I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and all that fun stuff. So, I want to prevent that for myself by getting a hold of my food habits now.
I’m always open to conversation about food and nutrition, so feel free to reach out to me!07/26 117.2 Starting at the same weight I ended in round 119 thanks to eating a whole lot of salt on Friday after our hike. As semblances of normal life start creeping back in like takeout food, I find it harder to resist. Especially when it’s right in my face (Like my in-laws ordering takeout and wanting us to eat upstairs with them). I have a hard time saying no to those things because I enjoy them. One positive is that I feel like I did well last week and made a huge volume of summer squash to go with a minimal amount of Chinese food I ended up eating (maybe 1 cup worth of General Tso’s chicken, one chicken finger, and ½ cup pork fried rice, a fried dough ball, then a mountain of sautéed zucchini/summer squash). That method worked pretty well, I felt satisfied afterwards, but it took a while to feel full. I wanted to eat more but resisted.
I know I said going into this it would be tough because the lower you go the harder it is to get to the goal number at my height. I just need to remind myself of that and keep on chugging because I love the changes I have seen and feel very comfortable in my own skin. I just don’t want to feel uncomfortable again…which can happen if takeout becomes a habit.
So cheers to a new round with a new focus and challenges of not letting takeout food get in the way of my success.
07/27 117.2 Solid start to the day with a good soccer workout before the 100 degree plus humidity weather rolls in. I made a new batch of granola yesterday and added some crushed up brown rice cakes to it to add some bulk without a lot of calories. I’m excited to try it with my fruit and yogurt for breakfast.
It’s CSA pick up today and I got an email saying there will be peaches in it, so I’m very excited to try those! I love in season and local peaches! They are so so yummyyyyy! We’ll also be getting kohlrabi which will be fun to cook with! I love kohlrabi just sliced and munched on raw. So much yummy produce is really going to start rolling in and I’m so excited about it!
I’m also feeling refreshed after my mini vacation last week of having Wednesday to Friday off work.
07/28 118.0 Salt is not my friend. Had Thai food last night and wasn’t over on anything numbers wise. Done with takeout for a while. My husband really wanted it last night and I caved because it sounded way too good as I was really hungry at the time. Bleck, now I pay. Hoping the water weight doesn’t stick around because it doesn’t feel good being all swollen. I felt it in my fingers and face this morning snd hoping it fades.
Besides that, we went for a really nice walk this morning at around 5ish miles and it included black berry picking! So that was fun coming home with about a pint of wild black berries to accompany our CSA blueberries, apples and peaches in the fridge. I have healthy food all planned out for today and planning to stick to it.
07/29 119.2 Water weight is crazy right now. Besides that, I had a really good soccer workout this morning. I also switched up my breakfast routine today because I had leftover kielbasa to finish up. So I browned the kielbasa (4 oz) slices in a pan and then threw in an egg. Then on the side, I had a slice of whole wheat raisin toast (Angelic Bakehouse brand) topped with ½ tbs peanut butter along with some blueberries and blackberries. It was a pretty balanced breakfast and it’ll be interesting to see how well it keeps me satisfied.
07/30 117.0 Finally got the whoosh of water weight released. I can feel it too! My fingers don’t feel swollen which is nice 😊. We went for a really nice walk this morning. I think it clocked in at about 6.5ish miles. I think I’ll be frying an egg to go with my yogurt and fruit this morning. Then for a snack I’ll have some fresh kohlrabi and cucumbers. I’ll probably have a couple pieces of dried fruit with it too for a sweet treat. I’m looking forward to possibly having a taco salad for dinner tonight! Have a good day!
07/31 116.4 More whoosh of water weight 😊. Finally back to baseline after over a week of highs. We did a really good soccer workout this morning. I have my meals all planned for the day. For breakfast I’m having leftover chili I made last night topped with an egg. Then I’ll have fruit, yogurt and granola on the side. Snack will be some more kohlrabi and cucumber sprinkled with chili lime seasoning. Then, for dinner I think I want to make chicken thighs, purple potatoes, and zucchini ribbons with a touch of alfredo sauce for dinner tonight.
08/01 115.6 Whelp there’s a number I don’t remember seeing, even in high school. Maybe middleschool, so when I was an awkward 13/14 year old with a completely different shape to me. This is exciting and I’m really happy with it 😊. Let’s hope it sticks! In the meantime I will celebrate the victory with some online shopping to treat myself.
I have my typical breakfast planned today in addition I’ll be having some leftover chili on the side with an egg on top. Not sure if I’ll be hungry after such a big breakfast. Then we’ll be having homemade pasta & meatballs for dinner tonight. I think I’ going to make some zucchini ribbons to add some veg to the dish as well. I’ll probably have a cucumber salad to go with it too.
NSV: I have officially been logging for 110 days in MFP 😊.
08/02 115.6 Nice to see it stick. We had Chipotle door dash for lunch today and I calculated my bowl on their website and realized after the fact that the bowl I ordered had almost 3,000 mg of sodium in it. (Ingredients: barbacoa, brown rice, black beans, fajita veg, guac, mild and hot salsa, and romaine lettuce.) So, I’m sure I’ll have some water fluctuations into tomorrow. It also clocked in at 1,000 calories. After logging all of that, it makes me realize how I got up to the weight I was at. We were eating a lot of Chipotle and take out pre-pandemic, which definitely adds up over time into real poundage. After having for the first time in a while… I wonder why I ate it so much before because I wasn’t that impressed with it today. I think I’d rather splurge on Thai food for a sodium bomb vs Chipotle. I plan on having a light dinner tonight like salad and then some fruit and yogurt. I really hope the sodium doesn’t bother me too much.

Aims:
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Medium range goal - I turn 60 in early October, so the goal is to be under 300. It would mean I've lost over 100 lbs. in just under a year AND first time under 300 since my late 40's.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/26 - 326.9 - Huge uptick. Overate yesterday and my last meal got me sick and bloated. Not sure if it was undercooked (ribs) or something else, but I'll be preparing them differently next time.
07/27 - 329.0 - Strictly an excess of calories over the weekend. Prolly why I felt ill over the weekend (too much food). I'll be interested to see how much I drop by Saturday weight-in, since it normally reflects the largest, final, end-of-the-week drop.
07/28 - 324.2 - I knew it would drop, but with two small workouts (one aerobic, one weights), the drop was more than I hoped. I'm almost back to where I was Saturday morning. Sometimes you just find the *thing* that clicks and works for you. Over the years, like SO many, I've tried a variety of things. And then I just stumbled across intermittent fasting. I started with the standard 16:8 and slowly moved over to 20:4. I began watching Dr. Jason Fung, who is probably the formost authority on the subject and he spoke of alt. day IF. I worked up the nerve to try it. For someone that LOVES to eat, like I do, it was ALOT of nerve. I'm now starting my fourth week. Per Dr. Fung, there is no reason why the loss won't continue. Now down about 15 lbs. in those 3+ weeks. A little fast, but one by-product is that the loose skin gets eaten from autophagy/ketosis. And there are numerous other health benefits, too, not just the weight loss. I'm just very excited that something works that doesn't limit the foods I eat
07/29 - 327.7 - I always expect the uptick the day after eating. A little high since I drink so much in the morning, but I'm still OK since the weekly trend is down. I try to focus only on the Saturday weigh-in week over week.
07/30 - 323.5 - And the beat goes on... I'm gonna be close to making my medium range goal, but just losing 100 lbs. seems so distant.
07/31 - 324.6 - Only a 1 pound uptick. Looks like I might have a shot at making my goal for this round, IF I can get in 2 workouts before tomorrow's weigh-in. Made it to the gym this afternoon. Got a decent back workout in, plus 30 mins. on an eliptical (@ 75% heart rate 161 bmp max x .75 = 121 avg.)
08/01 - 322.6 - Not quite there, but I've still got 3 days. The good part is that the last weigh-in day is right after a 42 hour fast.
08/02 - 326.7 - OK, not happy about the uptick, but if there is little rise tomorrow, then I'll be ok. I like going to the gym very early, like before 6AM, but on weekends it doesn't open until 7AM, which does not work for me. I'll have to think of ways to change my plan.

07/27 144.0 lbs 1,407 Calories 51 Carbs, 42 Net Carbs. It was a raining day so no exercise today just a lazy day!😊 Went out to eat tonight. We haven’t done this much but in my book this restaurant did it right. Reservations are required and spaced out way more then the requirements. My husband had a steak and I had shrimp. An enjoyable evening.

JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~|~ Round 121 (round 53 for me ) I'm in for another round (of course!) – I need to just keep going! Yet again thank you @GrandmaJackie such a champion particularly in these unprecedented & unsettled times, helping keep some stability in our lives, for setting up these challenges.
Female age 62 5' 4” - Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and have gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then; I don't want to gain any more, but would like to get back to my goal weight – I'm working at it – it's a permanent way of life !
Goal for this round – re-lose those 2 pounds ! - get back to & stick with good habits: be mindful of what I eat & drink, keep walking, no binges, really want to keep the 10 days binge free! Keep calm, wash hands, be kind and follow all latest Government guidelines for C-19 virus.End of round 69 134.2 lbsKeep calm – we're all in this together!

Day/Weight/Comment
07/26 136.2 what !!!! 453 calories in credit, but 23 carbs over – 9.79 miles walked yesterday.
07/27 135.6 – only 3.74 miles walked yesterday, (travelled up to take DGS#1 out for the day), hence 54 calories and 75 carbs over. DGS#2 placed on transplant list last night
07/28 134.4 – 9.78 miles walked yesterday, 623 calories in credit, all macros well in green. I am gutted; I am 2 years too old to become a living liver donor to DGS, but encouraging news is that so many of my extended family have also volunteered, lets hope that one of them is compatible and he holds on till a suitable donor can be found – he is very ill now
07/29 134.4 - 364 calories in credit, 3g fat over. DGS update; my niece's husband is a potential match for live donor, awaiting blood results and a scan on Friday, just hope the dear little one can hold on that long
07/30 134.4 - 12.9 miles walked yesterday. 603 calories in credit, all other macros in green.
07/31 135.4 - 4.5 miles walked, over on calories & other macros, also didn't get all water in; took elder DGS out for the day to a country park.
08/01 134.8 – 10.4 miles walked yesterday, 558 calories in credit, all other macros in green. More importantly a liver (or part of an adults liver) has become available for my tiny DGS – in fact he is actually in theatre as I type undergoing the major surgery to give him a future, so hopeful that this is successful. (Fingers and everything else possible crossed !)
08/02 135.6? - 10.22 miles walked yesterday, 430 calories in credit and all other macros in green. DGS liver transplant went really, along way to recovery, but he now has a chance, I'm so relieved and grateful for a wonderful surgeon and supporting team, the donor (RIP) and his/hers grieving family & friends . Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and good wishes, so much appreciated.
08/03 135.2 – 6.34 miles walked yesterday (took sick DGS 2 year old brother out for the day). 365 calories in credit, 16 carbs over. DGS#2 still very gradually improving, scans & blood results show good results, still very sleepy from anaesthetic and morphine for pain – poor little mite – but it's very optimistic (fingers still crossed).

Goal weight: 57kg
Starting weight: Day 4 Round 121 – 67kg
Goal for this round - 66.5kg
7/29 - 67kg, the heaviest I've been in a while. Had a pretty tough couple of weeks and can't do much working out because of an injury. Going to be more consistent with the light cardio and yoga that I can do though. I'll do my best to hold myself accountable!
7/30 - 66.6kg, looks like my body is getting rid of all the extra food I've eaten in the weeks before starting this challenge. Also happy to see that early dinner yesterday and just tea in the evening worked well! Really trying to get into the habit of not eating too late.
7/31 - 66.6kg, went out for a bike ride, but had some unhealthy snacks later on. Gotta remember it's not perfection I'm aiming for but balance and healthy results.
8/01 - 66.7kg, yesterday's eating caught up with me. Today was such a good day! Drank lots of water, did a light workout, ate healthy foods and had dinner early, then went for a walk. Feeling great ☺️
8/02 - 66.6kg, not really get there huh😂 Had a lovely day with the family, trying to make drinking 2L of water a habit.
8/03 - 66.2kg woah! I was waiting for progress but I wasn't expecting this! Gotta keep it down now.💪

Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
July: focus is on improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale

08/03 114.8 We did a killer soccer workout this morning and I feel great afterwards! I’m glad the Chipotle sodium bomb didn’t stick. I wonder if it’s from the magnesium I’ve been taking each evening to help with sleep and a few other things I had read about. Other than that, I haven’t really changed anything with my routine. I’ll happily take it though 😊. CSA pick up today and I’m so excited because they said we’ll be getting tomatoes and peppers! I haven’t had fresh peppers yet from them and it’s been a few weeks since we’ve gotten tomatoes. Breakfast and lunch will be typical meals for me and dinner will be jerk roasted chicken thighs with a ton of roasted veggies (summer squash, eggplant, purple potatoes and green beans) to use up what we didn’t eat from our csa last week.
