Machka Have you tried clinical hypnosis for teeth grinding? I tried everything and was sent to a specialist for TMJ resulting from the night clinching and grinding. He sent me to a clinical hypnoist and after 3 sessions I stopped it.

Lisa I bet Corey would cut your hair. He’s handy.

    Karen in Virginia

He does dye my hair for me already. Not sure I'd let him loose with scissors on it, though. :)

You are more trusting than me- I had mine trim my hair once, and never ever again!! I asked for him to just trim about an inch to an inch and a half off- some how he managed to take 5 inches off- Now I put my hair in a braid and cut the bottom inch off and call it good.
The last time I had my hair dyed(and first time ever having it done at a salon)- was exactly 5 yrs ago(give or take a month-getting ready for our class reunion) It was by my daycare girls grandma. I just wanted to cover a little of the grey because mine is in a streak like Cruela Devile. but my hair is lighter so not as noticeable. I showed her the color I wanted- the color the ends are, more light brown/dark blond- but wanted it to look natural- It was ok but didn't last long at all. Haven't done it since. Now, I am just waiting for more grey to come in/silver actually the way it looks, just so it isn't so dark. Former hubby still calls me Blondie(he and I used to both use SunIn in our hair when we were together). I think about dying it again but worry about it damaging my curls. I have finally come to love my long curls instead of fighting with them.

    Hi Gals,

A good night, the wind shifted and the temperature lowered into the middle 60’s. The daytime high is to be in the 80’s. The lower temperature is good for the LNU, SCU, and CZU fires the ones near me, Debbie and Karen’s friend Holly. The wind shift is great for me, not so good for others. But at my house the AQI dropped overnight into the 50’s, good for a night’s sleep! It is only 8:32 am and the AQI is climbing again, but I’ll close the house up in a few minutes and keep the cool and cleaner air inside.

Machka – so sorry to hear of your dental problems.

Pip – I believe you are renting, you have really made it your own, and with such a good eye, fun colors and yet very restful and welcoming.

Clothes lines - I almost exclusively dry on my clothes lines, and almost never do more than a quick touchup ironing. Unlike some of you my iron and ironing board are up more than they are down. But I use the iron in my business, most items get a bit of an iron before they are sent out the door.

I find a good shake of the wet item, then careful clothes pinning to keep the item from clumping up makes for a pretty successful drying with little to no ironing.

    Awwww thanks godmom!!!

Machka: I have a hard time with the idea that it isn’t your choice whether or not you can travel. Who has the authority to prevent you from traveling? You’re both adults. Is it the agency that cared for your DH when he had his stroke? I hope dental problems are resolved soon.

Carol in GA: I have no place to put an outdoor clothesline, but I do have a rack in the laundry room where I can let clothes dry. Once dry, I tumble them in the dryer to get wrinkles and stiffness out. Then I put them back on hangers and put them away. I think this may be similar to what Lisa does. :flowerforyou:

Faye: Beautiful photos!!! They are “Columbia Gorgeous.”

Tracey: I think you’re blaming yourself unfairly for things that occurred in your childhood. You grew up to be an excellent, responsible adult. I’ll bet your parents were/are proud of you.

SuziQ: Florida is part of the Gulf coastline. I hope you are safe, too. :flowerforyou:

Allie: You are a wonderful caregiver. I hope Faith enjoys her beauty treatment. Nice hair makes a person feel better about life.

Kim: I’m delighted that your temperature dropped to the lower 60s during the night. I hope it helped you rest. 80F is not a bad daytime temp in my estimation. It falls right into my idea of a pleasant day to be outside. Not bad inside, ether. :star:

I’ve got items on order and am hoping for delivery today for shoes, and a new helmet for horseback riding. Keeping my fingers crossed that they all get here. The new shoes are a recent order, but the other items were ordered a couple of weeks ago. I really need the new riding helmet. DH put my old one back together with shoe-goo and a bit of super glue. It worked last weekend, but I’m not very confident it will stay useable for very long.

I think the Spinach and Feta Pie from Skinnytaste is better, but it was nice for a change. I had mine with chilli sauce. DH with mango chutney. I made half quantities and cooked it in a 7 inch tin.

Barbara-- Glad that the news about Joe's eye is better. Sounds like God is working in him. The phones being out was provider problem and it was one thing after another till they got it fixed. Sad part is this is not the first time it has happened, just the longest.

On the subject of hair washing. I take a shower every morning before I get dressed. Something I have done for years and don't feel right. I wash my hair whenever I feel it looks bad. Depends on the day. It is short and towel drying is about all it needs. I have a nice real thin spot on top and have to make sure to wear a hat when out in the sun.

Pip--What a great place to just sit and relax.

Tracey--That's the problem, hind sight is 2020. I have so many regrets but at the time I was doing the best I could with what I knew. Forgive yourself.

Well time to finish up work and get ready a friend is picking me up from work so we can go get our nails done. It is the one thing I do for me. My hives are in full force today. DH looked up my meds to check on side effects and guess lasix can cause rash. So not going to take it the rest of this week and next and see if I notice any difference. Doctor said to try it with each one and keep track.

Dieting Right: I started out where you are and have been here a long time. I offer simple advice from my own experience:

    • Let MFP determine the number of calories you are allowed each day. As you lose weight, the number of calories you are allowed will gradually decline.

    • Get a food scale or use measuring cups to measure your portions at every meal. I invested in restaurant style dishers in 1 cup, ½ cup, & 1/3 cup serving amounts. Ordinary measuring cups will work just as well.

    • Portion control is the key that will let you succeed. Measure your portions so that you can count them with reasonable accuracy. Use measuring cups, a food scale, or restaurant dishers to dole out your portions.

    • Move more. Choose activites that you will enjoy. Simply walking for a set amount of time is a good starting place. If you love to swim, dance or do yoga, go for it. Swimming, horseback riding, golf and hiking are all good choices, among MANY others. Measure the time you spend exercising and log it.

Stop by here often for encouragement and support. This is an amazing group of women from all over the world. We have the English language in common, though some of us have more than one language to call our own.

SuziQ: Thank you for the map. It is very helpful. I'm glad to see that you are on the Atlantic side of the state where storm damage is less likely. I hope the storm does not veer off its track & head your way or cause trouble for you. I also hope it doesn't cause trouble for our old friends who live in The Villages.

    Hello all
Looking through all the communities this one seems to to fit. My reason for being here may not be so different than a lot of you. But I will say I’m looking to adopt a positive healthy living that I enjoy and will stick with. I got the sleeve surgery in November and my goal is to lose 30 more pounds and maintain. I’ve started exercising daily 4 days ago to boost my weight loss and to tone. I also eat a very high protein diet to help me to not eat just to be eating it seems to fill me up. I noticed prior to surgery I ate for taste and pleasure. I see friends and family who have had the surgery fall back into that rabbit hole and I do not want to have gone through all of that to become unhealthy again. I guess that’s all I can think of to share about me. Lol I look forward to chatting with you all!!
