    Notes:
Aug 29: I went on a 6 day holiday, and it was glorious. As evidenced by the weight gain. I shouldn't be surprised, I guess, but also held onto a fantasy that I'd still maintain, even lose, because somehow I imagined my metabolism was now super high. Despite being super active all throughout the trip, I could not out work the calories in. Also, returning from the holiday has been a challenge: the calories set by MFP don't feel like enough, and I am eating back all my exercise calories, still feeling hungry and tired. Then getting depressed thinking about how this control and monitoring of my intake is going to have to be a part of my life forever. And that bums me out hard.

Aug 15: I spent a long weekend taking mini-roadtrips to see friends, which also meant I ate and drank indulgently over 3 days. Still kept active and physical in order to balance it all out. I did come back from the long weekend, though, constantly craving takeout and restaurant food. I bargained with myself that I would be disciplined this week so that I can relax and enjoy myself during my week long vacation next week. Wondering if anyone here still tries to follow some of your diet while on vacation? Or, do you allow yourself to be completely free, ex. no logging meals/calories in MFP while on vacation?

Aug 8: I think the scale is off by 2lbs, so I believe I'm likely in the 154-155 range. The past week I've been feeling decent energy and less feelings of boredom/anxiety hunger. Still trying to level out how much to eat back calories when I'm exercising more; I think I am undereating on those days. Tbh my new challenge in this weight loss journey is dealing with the loose skin, and how I feel about it changes day to day.

Aug 1: My final weigh-in yesterday for the July 2020 Weight Loss Challenge was 155 (the day before that was 158.5)... so yeah, my scale is kinda busted. I should probably get a more accurate scale, but maybe I can live with the consistently inconsistent scale.

Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Original MFP starting weight (January 2018) - 168.2
    June 30 starting weight - 148.0 (ten-day rolling average weight 148.8)
    August goal - 145
    Ultimate goal - Range between 142 - 148

I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.

    July 31: 146.2 (10-day average 145.3)
    August 8: 145.8 (10-day average 144.8)
    August 15: 144.6 (10-day average 145.3)
    2August 22: 145.0 (10-day average 145.1)
    August 29: 145.8 (10-day average 145.3)
    August 31:

Total loss for August: According to my average, less than the weight of all the elephants that can fit on the head of a pin. My ten-day average has really all month varying no more than 0.6 pounds since the beginning of August, and only a little bit more variability the few weeks before that. My mass is right in the middle of my maintenance range. I'd really like to get my weight down just a tiny bit more, but that last two or three pounds is always so tough. The bad news is looking at my weight trend, I'm ever so slowly gaining (0.1 pound per week). So let's stop that.

    2020 Goal Weight: 148

    Aug 15: 152
Aug 22: Did not weigh bc holiday!
    Aug 29: 155
    Aug 31: 155-157

Final Thoughts: For my final weigh-in(s), I got readings of 155-157 within 3hrs. So scale is continuing to be consistently inconsistent, and it's definitely harder to take this in stride when the trend seems to go up instead of down. Regardless, I'm disappointed with the final weigh-in. But I guess I got a taste of what maintenance could possibly look and feel like, and let me tell you, maintenance still feels like a LOT of hard work to just stay the same (frustrated tears!).

    August 15: 144.6 (10-day average 145.3)
    2August 22: 145.0 (10-day average 145.1)
    August 29: 145.8 (10-day average 145.3)
    August 31: 145.8 (10-day average 145.5)

Total loss for August: I ended the month with my weight up two tenths of a pound from the end of July. I've been pretty steady, and I am near the midpoint of what I say is my maintenance range. In my mind, I'm trying to stay closer to the lower end of the range, and not being able to knock those last three pounds off is always frustrating. Will September bring success? We shall see! But the truth is, I should just be fine if I stay exactly where I am.

Maintenance is definitely still work. The main difference is you get a few more calories than when losing (not many if you were trying to lose slowly at the end). You don't get the rush that comes with seeing that number change week after week, hopefully in the right direction. You will inevitably gain and lose and gain and lose, and you have to learn that this is how it's supposed to work. You'll succeed!

Thanks for sharing! Definitely experienced everything you wrote in August: the rush of seeing 152 on my scale this month, but the UGH of seeing 157 this morning. I guess I can't be all boo-hoo because I did get "crazy" on vacation and a few other days here and there, but really thought if I was disciplined all the other days, I would still see a net loss.

How long have you been in maintenance? Do you not get discouraged weighing every week (or daily) to see all those fluctuations?
