Hello All,

Decided to join since these last 20 lbs have been kicking my butt. I've been on a diet / exercise program since last september...Lost 24lbs and need to rid myself of these last 20 once and for all. Figured, writing things down and tracking my success would be helpful to me, as far as motivation goes.

Am trying out a truly low calorie diet (500 a day). Am on day 2. This is tough, but I figure it's the extreme jolt my body needs to jump start weight loss again. Any ideas on how I can keep from being so horribly hungry??? And I promise I'm only doing this craziness for 2 weeks...if I can stand it.

Would love to hear your ideas on how to stop being so hungry.

Thanks and happy dieting!

Whereas I know your body doesn't need 1200 calories a day to sustain (depending on body type) .. I wouldn't recommend 500 calories. I don't think there is any possible way you could the nutrition your body needs. Why not try 900? I typically try to stay between 900-1050. If you like, you can add me to view my diary for ideas.

You may only need tto do that for a few days to get your body back into weight loss mode. I wish you the best of luck though! I have lost 21 and need to lose another 30. Slow process but so worth it!

You may be slowing down your metabolism by eating that little amount. It seems feasible you'd lose more the less you eat, but then your body will try and conserve as much as it can and you won't always lose as much as you expect.

Just a thought, but either way!! Good luck with the last 20 and great job on everything so far!

    Please, EAT...

No offense, but a 500 cal diet is crazy and dangerous. It can only do harm in the long run.

Have you considered zigzagging as way to shake things up? I'm also trying to lose those last 20 pounds, and I was stuck for a month at the same weight.

Just finished my first week of zigzagging and I dropped nearly 2 pounds without starving myself.

    Something to think about...

It is a way to keep the body guessing which way you are gonna swing. Eat more calories on some days than the others basically. If you are constantly low in calories and food intake, Your body will think there is starvation around the corner and .... the body is said to hold on to all it can. Weight loss slows down.

I don't do it. Not consciously anyways. I am not a flatliner either, to say the least. :)

There is some discussion here. You can search the message boards with the key word for more.

I use this calculator to figure out how many calories I should aim for each day.

    Worked for me! :-)
