Bad news: I tested positive. I am utterly shocked. I did feel like hell for 24 hours and it was a sudden onset of fever and symptoms. Today I do have a headache but feel ok. I am so worried to have tested positive especially since I saw students on Tuesday before I had any symptoms.9

I must say I thought the same thing when I found out. It must be a matter of time for some of us (me). At least, I didn't get if for 6 months. I am now cozy in bed. And I'll work from home- and hopefully read and watch movies, etc.
The big concern is my daughter who lives here and others I have been in contact with this week before symptoms.
I dont have major symptoms just dull headache, body aches, and a cough right now. It could be a lot worse.

Hey at least I'll be sober for the net 14 days ; I have no alcohol here. Silver lining...5 -

@RubyRed427 Glad you are getting better & that your symptoms are mild....hope you mend soon. I'm thinking whoever you had contact with will need to be tested? That is the protocol in Canada.

I just finished the 30 day alcohol experiment. Today is day 30. At the beginning I thought, "oh I will be finished a few days before my birthday and I can drink". Well, the information that was reinforced in the lessons made me lose all desire. Why would I want to drink poison even in moderation? I'm sick of thinking about alcohol and it is far too much work to try to figure out, "can I have 1? or 2? Should I just drink every 3 days? Saturdays and Sundays?" etc. BLEH! It takes up far too much head space and I am too lazy to do that kind of work. My husband drank 3 beers while we watched a show last night and he talked the entire time and was so annoying it further reinforced my desire not to act like that and the only way to guarantee I won't is to be sober. It really is as simple as that. I lost a couple lbs, nothing significant, but the change in my face is drastic. No redness or puffiness. My eyes are brighter. We had a socially distant bbq on the deck with neighbors and one woman was insisting I lost so much weight. I honestly just think I looked better overall, it wasn't weight loss.
I wanted to stop drinking at 40. I am turning 57 next week.
This has taken years. 17 years. To those struggling with this, my message is, NEVER, EVER GIVE UP.10 -

Yes, that is true. I made lots of phone calls yesterday telling people I've been around that I Have Covid. It's the right thing to do.4 -

@JenT304, Amen! I’m 64 and have flirted with sobriety for many years. Although I will never be over-confident, something finally clicked for me when I took the Sober School course. Day 70 tomorrow. I just returned from 5 days caring for my granddaughters. Being AF made all the difference. My face shows the difference quickly, too (in both directions). I really notice it on Zoom calls. Good work!!5 -
Congrats@ JenT304 you made me laugh about your husband talking through the show. Mine does that and repeats what they are saying like I didnt hear it the first time. Unless its "his show" then Im only allowed to talk during commercials lol. Maybe thatll change when he quits.

I found it really important to count the days for the first year in particular. I know there is some debate over counting, but it is whatever works for the individual...for me it was important to track my progress and I LOVE when others share their count. I find it very encouraging 5 -
Re: counting the days . . . If I don't count, how am I going to treat myself to all those rewards? I'll admit after awhile I stopped the every-five-day rewards, but I'm looking forward to Day 100 and especially 6 months.4

Re counting days:
I find counting very encouraging. I also agree that seeing the counts of others is motivating. I am at 198 days and it feels great. I will not be posting a graphic for 200 since I just hit 6 months.

I haven't posted for quite some time but I thought I'd come on to say that in just 14 days I will have been alcohol free for two years. Also, the 15lbs I lost when I quit drinking has stayed off because I still log all my food and have been doing that for over 7 years now (2,647 days today). Staying accountable, working out every day and logging my food has worked for me. Still, the most important thing to me is being alcohol free!9
