How many calories do you think are in this?

I bought this adorable tiny cherry pie at the Amish market and I am going to have it for dessert. I need to guestimate the calories. I posted three pictures - one of just the pie, one in my hand (I have very small hands) for reference, and one next to a jar of pasta sauce and a tea kettle for reference. The pie itself is 3.33 inches in diameter and it says the weight is 2oz. The ingredients are listed as: flour, sugar, shortening, salt, baking powder, cherries, thermflo. I am thinking of putting at 200 calories. What's your best guess?

    I'm guessing a range of 250-300 ... probably closer to 300

    If I were logging it, I would put 300-400 calories for it - purely guessing though

    400 seems high for only 2oz.
    First step (for me) would be to weigh it.
    I'd go with 450 kcal per 100gr to be sure. That's about 260 kcal for 2oz.

    I agree 400 is a bit high probably but for me and me only - I would rather over estimate my calories than underestimate

    400kcal for 2oz is about 700 kcal per 100gr. I like to overestimate as well, but that filling would have to be more shortening than cherries to arrive at that :lol: I'd probably round up to 300.

    Determine the most calorie dense ingredient - probably shortening? Log as 2 ounces of shortening. That is a worst case scenario. That would be approximately 500. So assuming its not 99% shortening and 1% all else, going around 250-300 seems reasonable.

    Shortening 113 cals per 12.8g
    Flour 4 cals per 1g
    Sugar 9 cals per 2.3g

    There's a lot of crust there plus a bit in top. Crust can really get ya especially store bought. I'd say 500 cals.

    Looked up pie crust on MFP. 140 cal/oz.
    Comstock cherry pie filling about 30 cal/oz.
    I would guess that weighs more than 2 oz, so I would certainly weigh it. I really don’t know, though. I don’t eat pie.

    It looks like it weighs more than 2 ounces. I would check that weight. I would go with 350-400, but I also prefer to overestimate my calories to be on the safe side.

    I made these little mulberry pies with frozen pillsbury pie crust the other night. Granted, they are slightly less than two ounces and are extremely low sugar (2tbsp spread out over twenty tarts) but Pillsbury crusts are pretty high calorie. Believe it or not, they were 106 calories apiece.

    I’m going to go against grain and estimate about 200-250. *ducks and runs*
