@davert123 Make sure you are getting enough calories for the long-haul not short sprint.

3 X yes. Feeling very hungry today so its going to be a battle
I don't know if you have ever had a nutritionist tell you what to eat if you are ravenous or not...but I was told a little natural sugar from fruit won't derail you. I've also been told if you are STARVING... have a lean protein portion...and drink a few glasses of water.

Yes 3 times, and though I have used no pass days yet there will be no winner's circle for me this month.
I am a bit down tonight. I have a health issue I have not mentioned, its kind of embarrassing. Thursday I am getting surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), not life threatening or anything, but embarrassing and inconvenient. The surgery will be endoscopic, without incision, and though they call it "minimally invasive" it will be done under a general anesthetic and I will have to spend a night in the hospital. This is my first real heath problem and first experience with surgery, so I am not happy. I always assumed that any health problems I have would be weight related, but apparently this is not.
Long story, but a few weeks ago I was tested and found to have a UTI, rare for a man, except men with BPH... I had no obvious symptoms, so may have had the UTI for a long time. After a course of antibiotics it cleared up and they did a kind of internal inspection and the doctor said that without the surgery the UTI would likely recur. And there are other problems of course. After surgery I will not be able to do my weight training for at least a month, will be exercise limited and probably have other limitations. I am sure I will survive and be fine, but it does not feel good tonight. The doctor says I will likely have no side effects and this should be a long-term, probably permanent fix to the BPH problem.
As I said this is embarrassing for me, I held off talking about it here for a long time. But I rely on y'all for support, and I think it helps for people to know.
Otherwise my eating was good today and I worked in the yard most of the day, lots of digging and hard work. I am trying to get things done before the surgery that I may not be able to do afterwards until it's a lot colder. I am pretty tired from the yardwork, but other than feeling down about my condition I am ok tonight. Life could be worse.
However the inability to exercise will bump me out of the winner's circle this month, and maybe next.16 -
Being able to not only feel your feelings but share them is its own winner's circle if you ask me @alligatorob
Sorry you're anxious about it all yet it sounds like you are surrounded by a caring health team. Hopefully, rehab (with physio) is something you can discuss with them so that they can make a plan for you to get back to your physical activity goals sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, I hope everything resolves for you in due time! UTIs alone don't sound fun so BPH can't possibly be a walk in the park. You're a tough person for having gone through all this up til now, my word!
Sending you 🤗8 -

Was a very busy day cleaning house, laundry, grocery shopping, and other errands. I never thought I would get my treadmill in tonight, but I did it! Not 2 hours like last few days, but every day can't be a 2 hour workout! Going with my daughter tomorrow to help her register for her baby shower. I already cut up veggies and some fruit to bring with so I don't get extremely hungry while out and blow it! I am also having a banana and 2 large hard boiled eggs in the morning.8 -
Yes x 3 for Saturday and Friday too. I even made myself do a boot camp workout before I started my day cause I knew it would be busy. Normally I can't pull that off on a Saturday so I'll take it!7

@alligatorob Sorry to hear about your upcoming procedure - I completely understand the anxiety but for what it's worth I've known others have similar surgery and although the recovery can be uncomfortable I think it's usually fairly straightforward. I say this not to diminish your concerns, only to alleviate worries if I can!
@MaltedTea is so right about being able to share - and I'd also take her advise about discussing exercises you can do with your medical team, if you haven't already.
Best of luck; I hope it all goes well and that you'll keep checking in as and when you're able. ☺️7
