It was a rainy, cold day today. Yesterday I made the chicken soup from the October 5 blog of fall soup recipes. It was so easy to make (Crockpot) and so good. We had it last night and then again today. I usually stick to the same meals but I love fall soup and it looked interesting. I’m going to try the apple butternut squash one next. I love butternut squash soup.

We went to a fancy little coffee/pastry shop...but I got a paleo bar and a "skinny latte"...so was good there. I did eat 2 donut holes...but burned those off. I Am ratcheting down my intake for calories and such starting tomorrow. Tired of this extremely slow rate of loss. I know not to go too low...but something has to change.3 -

Exercise minimal - walking - taking care of Buddy aka Bugsy Boy.
Baked some rolls. That pushes me up to the limit. I ate 700 cal of those. Hey that is tracking.
Kind of lamenting the summer that got away.
Didn't get my usual travel and camping.
Got two excursions with my wife and one solo.
Wife - she don't like to cross state lines.
That causes her to have to quarantine.
That is cuz she might have school kids that are medically fragile.
But I went across that state line.
I did a pretty good job at staying away from pretty much everybody.
Didn't go to the beer store or convenience store or gas station.
Thought I could do an excursion and curtail any sort of interaction.
But life is weirder than that.
So camping is this weird thing with me.
I got a place I go to kind of by Rico.
I think that is Barlow Creek right there.
That name has got a sort of hillbilly connotation to it.
Nevermind that.
I get there it is raining.
I don't mind rain, actually I kind of like it.
I like listening to it on my tent when I am all nestled in there snug and dry on my air mattresses and in my sleeping bags.
I don't like setting up in the rain though.
That doesn't work. Inside of the tent gets wet. You know how it is.
So I sit in the car for a while and think about back tracking to a place where it wasn't raining.
But procrastination paid off.
It quit raining.
So I set up.
Not too much after that a scrabbly old truck pulls along side my camp and a grizzled old guy rolls down the window. We chat some.
He asks if I mind if he pull in and camp by me.
No. I don't mind.
The forest is kind of full. Archery season open in two days so camping is like that. He ain't no kind of party animal so I figure it for ok.
He is a cowboy. He ain't got no tent. He has a cot that he covers up with a tarp and an old shower curtain.
I don't think much of it. I camped like that before.
But I figured this out. He put his cot right by his truck. From his truck he has a rope hanging down that he can reach from his cot. He need that rope to pull himself up out of bed.
I don't think about it too much but this is a guy that wants to go camping but know better than to go camping by himself. I won't elaborate on that much.
He is not really much of a hand for fetching firewood either. He has kind of a limited range. But that is alright.
I build us a fire to sit around.
He tells me his life story a couple of times. That got me to wondering about people I knew that were more than a little forgetful. They could remember their life story but they couldn't remember if they already told it to you twice. I don't mean to be to jovial about that.
I was camping with a guy that didn't have much camping left in him. I meant to honor that somehow.
His life story went all over the place and I don't doubt the veracity of any of it.
He was a cowboy, a rodeo guy, a hunter a developer of ranches, and a movie star. I play that movie star item up more than he did but I guess that is the item that impressed me the most.
He was John Kinney in "Young Guns." He taught all of those A-list guys in that movie how to ride horse. He provided the horses. He had all kinds of stories about movie guys that he hung out with. He did movies other than "Young Guns." I ain't going to try and remember and quote all of what he said.
He still has a ranch but I think he is having trouble with it. I think he was kind of fishing around as to whether he could draw me into it.
But I end up going to bed at almost a reasonable hour.
I woke up kind of early and seen his cot over there. I wondered how he fared. Maybe worried a little bit.
But I had a cold breakfast and went for maybe a thousand calorie bike ride or so. Went back. He was up and about wanting to cook us lunch. He made some kind of goolash that I was a little bit scared of. Had eggs in it. Don't know if he cooked it all the way hot.
The weather was predicted to be nice for days on end for after when that rain was done.
So campfire again and maybe third telling of life story afterwards went to bed in my tent.
I am awakened by rain. It is for real raining. I worry about that guy under his tarp and shower curtain. I get up and put on my raincoat and rain hat, go out there.
He is up mutzing with his cot and stuff. Thing I know about that kind of a rig is that you can't get up without getting everything wet. You get what I mean?
But I knew he was soaking wet and it was a rain that had snowflakes in it. I told him he could bunk in my tent. I had extra stuff that was dry. Extra air mattress, extra sleeping bag.
I don't know. He wasn't interested in that idea. Maybe he thought I was weird. I think it possible that he knew he couldn't get up from the ground or from on an air mattress. Didn't want to put me to the task of having to pick him up. Especially for as often as an old man has to get up in the night.
But he had his truck right there. He could sit in it and run the motor. Sometimes a cowboy will do that.
But yeah, the long story about me thinking I could go on an excursion and not have any human interaction that would or might somehow necessitate quarantine.
If I had memoirs that is a story I would put in them. I would probably be a little more detailed though.5 -

@ginadomaszewicz , heads up! 🤗 This is a chance to start anew, I am confident that you will find another job on due time! 🤞 Meanwhile, use the time you've got, to catch up on all activities that you couldnt because you had to go to work. Go for a hike, if you have time - the autumn colours 🍁🍃🍂 are fantastic and that gives you a new perspective on things ⛰.2 -

Posting for yesterday (13th): pass day, which means I'm now on my 4th pass and out of the winners circle. This is fine, and yesterday wasn't a terrible day, I just missed my exercise due to pouring rain and so also went over a bit on calories.
I'm noticing that as its getting colder I'm slipping into hibernation mood - i.e., finding it hard to motivate myself for exercise and making more frequent trips in to the kitchen during the day looking for snacks! When the weather was warmer my lunch was frequently a green smoothie but that just doesn't appeal now, so I'm going to have to find comforting alternatives. I'm thinking veggie soups would be a good option; going to try to get some batch cooking done this weekend.4 -

Exercise Tracked In MFP (Treadmill Mon-Fri): No treadmill but active
Calories and Water Tracked In MFP: Yes
Within Daily Calorie Range of 1300 to 1440: No - calories were 1,790
Yesterday I had errands to run, and also wanted to pick up lettuce for my salad lunches. I have been thinking about meals that are more healthy, and a salad for lunch is a great plan. My errands took longer than I thought, so I grabbed 2 burritos at the Taco Bell drive-thru. That was a bad idea!! The calories in a burrito supreme is 390! Oh boy. I must remember "outside calories" are bad and "inside calories" are good Need to eat at home!!
