Finally moving into the overweight category after being morbidly obese. Started with a BMI of 42 now I'm at 29. Still have a bit to go but thankfully I've found a diet I can sustain permanently whether I want to lose weight or maintain it. I also have balanced my nutrition to where I don't have to depend on exercise to lose weight and I can focus my exercise on building fitness.
I have been putting off taking family pictures for three years. I’m not a fan of pictures of myself even at a healthy weight...... though I love taking pictures/portraits of other people. So Ive avoid pictures for years because I just wasn’t feeling happy in my skin at all.
I was going to wait till next year when I’ve met all my goals to do family portraits. I’m close, 15 pounds away, give or take a couple pounds and some toning.
I had only planned of taking pictures of my three kids this fall, next week was my set in stone date to take the kids out for pictures.
This morning, I came to a realization and and understanding. I had a stern talking with myself..... because I realized I was putting off taking family pictures for all the wrong reasons. And i NEED to love myself NOW and get a much needed updated photo of myself with my family. (((That and ALSO JUST BE MORE PRESENT in everyday pictures with my kids too). I am going to regret not having pictures with them.
So I made myself go get an outfit, which is hard enough to do. I struggle with styling myself and finding the right shapes for my body. And with COVID rules that meant a lot of picking something up, purchasing, going home to try it on.....and going back to the store because it did not look the same on me as the hanger at all. I about gave up. But kept at it. And I found an outfit that hit ALL the right buttons. It’s comfortable, it goes with the palette I chose, and I felt rreally great in it. Plus I found out I look good in a color I have never tried before. My husband took a picture because he even said..... “YOU GOTTA see how good you look in this”
Anyways, I rarely feel this happy about pictures or outfits but I feel so ecstatic about this. Cloud nine you guys. So feeling pretty darn victorious today, even without getting to my goal. And most important finally going to have updated family photos!!!!
Gorgeous photo and well coordinated with the autumn colours
I try and remind myself that one day when I'm gone the kids won't be thinking about what I look like in the photos, just that I was there in them.

Both my wife and I saved $110 EACH on our monthly health insurance bill by not being in the Obese BMI category. TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY BUCKS A MONTH, OH YEAH!!!
I quit smoking (kinda, relapsed and smoked 5 cigs yesterday, the first in 17 days). It’s been on and off like that since June 1. But, I’ve stopped the weight gain so commonly associated with quitting smoking. Last year I was 181 lbs, today I’m 193, down from 199 in August. Scale victory there, but a huge step for me.
There's a thrift shop about a half hour from my town that usually is a good place to look for men's clothes. I have no idea why, but it is. It's halfway between my city and another city I need to travel to from time to time. I haven't been in a while. Last time I went through, they were closed indefinitely. There's apparently been a virus running loose.
I had to go take care of two errands last weekend an hour from home. I also visited a couple friends - outdoors of course. One was in a back yard, and the other was a nice little hike in the forest. I digress.
On the way home, I drove through the town with the thrift shop (I don't always go that route, but this time I did), they were open. So I risked it and went in. I planned for it to be a very short visit.
There was a brand new with tags attached pair of Levi's shorts on the rack. I often limit my purchases to things that are 50% off, but these seemed like a good value -- if they fit. I couldn't quite decipher the size. I thought it couldn't be women's size; the number was too big. The waist size was a little smaller than should have fit. Oddly enough, when I asked if it was permissible to use the fitting rooms (I had seen their checklist of when it was cleaned/sanitized), the staff person said yes and he came back with the key.
I was surprised they fit. They were longer than I normally wear for shorts, but I figured maybe they would shrink a bit or I'd get used to them. Yeah. They fit. Maybe they were mislabeled. The size on the label was an odd one I didn't understand. The waist size was there, but the other number didn't make sense. It wasn't the inseam length. It wasn't a women's size. But they were just odd numbers, and since they fit and were brand new, I too them home. I washed them, and they didn't really shrink, which is a good thing. I could almost use a belt with them. The pockets are too small is my only complaint.
I went online to figure out what the heck the numbers meant. I learned something -- It was a boy's size, not a men's size. Big boys, for sure, but not adult sizing. Holy ocelot!
Can I really start shopping in the kids section? No way. It's a fluke. Odd indeed. They HAVE to be mislabeled. I shouldn't be able to wear this size with room to spare. Maybe I will measure them to see how far off they are. I even measured my waist, and it's two inches bigger than what these shorts say, so something is wrong. But it was a NSV for a few days.

I have been after dear husband to put a new hole in my belt (he has this welding thing that makes a perfect hole and takes like 2.5 seconds)...he took so long to get around to it that I had to get him to add another one straight away! Puts me in about 8 inches from where I started
I'm officially Large! I have hung out in the XL range of women's clothes for so long, it seems unreal that I can actually reliably purchase size large tops and they will fit.
I have a few pairs of pants that I have hung on to for a few years even though they were too small. One pair I should have tried on earlier--they are almost too big now. And I have some stretchy jeans/leggings (jeggings?) that are down right roomy around the waist.
I usually shop for jeans at Old Navy b/c they typically fit well and I know my size there. They also seem to use vanity sizing a lot. I think an Old Navy size 16 is like a 1X or something at other stores. At least, in my experience. Anyway, the size 14 Old Navy jeans are wearable but getting into the too big range. I bought a size 12 and they are just a bit too tight to wear comfortably, but I think another couple of pounds will do the trick!
It's hard not to want to BUY ALL THE CLOTHES now that I can fit into non-plus sizes, but I'm trying to resist as I still have 30 lbs to lose.

That's amazing. I can't wait to be there too.
You look terrific!

Have a great day folks.
WOW
1) gone down a hole on my Fitbit strap
2) Picked up an old t-shirt from the wardrobe, and it fits better than the day I bought it
I have been catching my fitness ring on my jeans when I put my hands in my pockets and couldn't figure out why...until I tried on my wedding ring.
So unreal...
And I have done it for a week now! Well, I will have tonight when I close off today's food diary. Feels good and proud of myself.
