Help me

I walk up to 2 or 3 miles everyday, eat healthy about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I also do weight lifting 2 time a week, ride a bike a 1 to 2 miles every other day. I have not lost any weight this month and I’m about to give up. I really need lot lose 100lbs to be at a healthy weight.

Having 100 lbs to lose, you can set MFP to lose 2 lb a week. What is your daily calorie goal? Are you using a digital food scale to weight and measure everything you eat and drink? Most people think exercise will make them lose weight, when it's actually your calorie intake. You need to eat enough to fuel your exercise, but still lose. He wins who eats the most and still loses. So you need to be as precise as possible. I'd do that for at least 2 weeks and then report back with your stats and data.

Rarely, it's a health reason. Don't worry, you can do this. Read some of the stickies, if you haven't already. The "Sexy Pants" thread is a classic and will get you on your way.

Since I replied to the other thread and this one is the one getting new replies I am copying and pasting:

If you are logging accurately you have lost fat weight. Adding exercise is likely adding water weight. The bathroom scale weighs your entire weight and cannot tell you that you have made progress. Here is an article to read:

    https://physiqonomics.com/the-weird-and-highly-annoying-world-of-scale-weight-and-fluctuations/

It is very important to work on nailing down your logging. Using a food scale is the best way to make sure you log your portions correctly. Using things like measuring cups designed for liquids to measure solids is a major source of errors. Also the MFP database is full of errors. You need to be personally verifying that the calories match a label or a site like the USDA. This includes green checked items and scanned items.

If you are really only eating 1000-1200 calories a day though your plan is not going to be sustainable. You are trying to eat healthy but you are not really doing it. You have to eat the correct number of calories to be healthy. Put your information into MFP and get an assigned calorie goal and try to eat close to that goal each day. As someone who has lost far more than 100 pounds trust that this takes time no matter how you do it and the faster you try to go the faster you may flame out. I have done it millions of times (it seems).

Try to think of weight loss as something you allow to happen, not something you force to happen.

Also, keep in mind that your goal today is not to lose 100 pounds. It is to lose a small fraction of a pound. That is all you can possibly and healthily lose today so invest the amount of mental effort into it for the results that you get physically out of it.

The good news is that it is very possible that in the next few days or week you may get your first "whoosh" and you will drop a lot of water weight fast. This will likely be a very annoying trend of how weight loss will work for you. I have spent over 2.5 years watching my scale catch up with my losses (250+ pounds of them) after a whoosh about every 3 weeks.

Thanks for all the support and advice. I can’t eat a lot of things I’m allergic to a lot of foods. I don’t eat anything after 6pm. I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don’t eat red meats , fish, or shellfish. I wanted to lose a least 1 to 2 lbs a week. I weight myself every two weeks and no I don’t measure my food and I only drink water. I go by what I think is right for me when it comes to portions and exercising.

This is not ideal. I am not saying it will not work but there are holes in the plan. Your brain will ask for food based on habit with no regard to need. If you do not sleep enough tonight you will likely be hungrier tomorrow. This because you will feel a reduction in energy and your brain will connect that more food equals more energy. It won't matter that it could be surplus eating.

I count calories and measure my portions because it gives me confidence and allows me to trust the process when the scale is being uncooperative. Also if I eat out I am forced to guess and logging most of my food accurately means the guesses and the occasional oversights will not come back to bite me... at least not hard.

Without weighing and tracking your food you have NO CLUE how many calories you eat in a given day. Then you want help because you aren’t losing weight. You aren’t losing weight because you are eating too many calories.

Get a digital scale and start accurately tracking your food and then come back if you still aren’t losing weight a month from now. And not trying to be rude here, but if you knew what was right for you in terms of portion control, you wouldn’t have 100 lbs to lose. Believe me, many of us trying to lose weight or who are now in maintenance thought we knew what the right portions too before we started weighing them...

    Best of luck

Lol another one who asks for help and then doesn’t want to hear it because they don’t like the answer.

Your way isn’t working. You should SERIOUSLY consider the advice of those who are successfully losing or maintaining weight.

    Again, best of luck!

You just don’t like advice that you don’t want to hear. Again, no need to be snotty because you don’t like what people who have been doing this for years have to say. You aren’t eating 1200 calories a day because you have NO WAY of verifying your caloric intake.

That’s fine, but you asked for help and then you have an attitude because you don’t like the perfectly sensible help you receive. 🙄

You certainly do not have to take advice/help that you asked for. I sincerely hope you find a path that suits you and helps you get to where you need to go.

Good luck in reaching your goals. Calorie counting is great, but it does need one to be accurate & honest about what they're consuming. My sister tried it once, and gave up around day 4-5. Why? Because eating & drinking as she normally did, she ran out of calories every day by midday. This was with eating fried food, large starchy sides, gravy covered food and drinking lots of sugary soda. She wanted something to tell her that her eating was fine, and the weight gain HAD to be because of something she could not control.

If what you are doing does not work - reassess to see what you can do differently. This is a very basic, simple truth that can be applied to many scenarios in life. I would suggest though that if you make a change, follow that new course for 3-4 weeks. If you change things up too often, you won't be able to tell what is working and what is not.

Again I been trying for three months now, I am not stupid I know how it works. I gained all my weight when I lost my mother a year ago. I want to get my self back together. I have a food scale, I know what I eat everyday, I have also joined Nutrisystem when I started three months ago. I may not be the one to remember to log in everything I eat on here. I am trying my best that I know how.

Wow you might need some professional help for all that anger. You said you don’t weigh your foods. Your current 3 month method isn’t working according to you. What do you have against trying a tried and true method like weighing and logging your food???

And if you are dead set against that method, why in the world ask for help on a board where more than 95% of the participants do weigh and track literally EVERYTHING they eat??

Seems you were talking about yourself in the part I quoted.... 🤷🏻‍♀️
