11/2 26.45 miles
11/3 15.3 miles, 100 days HM+ streak7 -
@Teresa502 If you had told me before I would do 8+ miles on a treadmill, I would say you were crazy lol. But, the peloton app has made it easier to do so! You could always try a different email and device to see if you could get the free trial again if you wanted, or like @shanaber, check your insurance.
@katharmonic Wonderful pics! Sounds like a great time. I'm actually going to Boone NC this weekend and hoping to get a good hike in.
Took a couple of spin classes today and then upper body. Quads are on fire today. Probably will need to stretch some more later.
@RunsOnEspresso I am in awe of all of you who run such long distances! Yes you too @Camaramandy648!
The most I have done is HM plus a little more.
I don't know if I have a desire to run more than that - don't know if this old body can take it anyway lol.5 -
8.1/90 miles
11/2: 5 miles
11/3: 3.1 miles
This morning was my first truly cold weather run of the season. It was 40F when I set out. I got to break out leggings and an actual cold weather shirt since I was going on a short run and I knew I wouldn't get too warm. And gloves. And I actually got it right! I always have a hard time when I have to made weather adjustments.
I enjoy a nip in the air, so overall a really nice run. And, there were already people standing in line at the polling station in my neighborhood! I would not have wanted to be standing still in this weather, but it was pretty nice to run in.6 -
Morning all.
First Wednesday run in about 3 months! It was wet, but not cold. I remembered how to use my watch today so no extra minutes this time. Once again was wonderful to be out.
Going to be very busy today. My 3rd year students have their final practical assessments. It's the culmination of 3 years of study. It's my first time assessing and we have an outside assessor coming in as well. Going to be stressful and fun!8 -
All right I'm 308 posts behind. I'll never catch up.
So. How are you all? How are you REALLY?
That's all I want to know.
My life is the same - just waking at 4am, running doubles, lifting, raising kids. All that stuff!
4am is starting to feel normal. Well, actually. It was starting to feel normal last week. So this week has been all right. Halloween was a lot of fun with the kids too. I signed up on a whim with a couple friends to do this race the morning of Halloween. Seven miles on a trail. I'd never been there, but I felt like, "Meh, seven miles is cake. Sure, why not?"
Well. I got 3rd in AG. Bib # was 107. I am not unhappy with my results. Thrilled, actually. Spent my prize money on a pullover because return on investment.
Coach said it was a good race because I felt fine after and I didn't prepare. By didn't prepare, I mean, I signed up two days before, never rested or tapered, didn't sleep enough the night before, got there with five minutes to get my bib and packet, locked my keys in my car, got lost, etc. I was also running on tired legs from, well, running and lifting.
So yeah. 3rd in AG. With REAL people. Seems to really validate the virtual races because I always think, "There's no way these results are real."
I always think I'm failing. I usually am excelling. I think always believing I have failed keeps me humble, but there's got to be a healthier way.
So that's basically it. Had a nice 41 degree run this morning with an actual fartlek run at the end, per the coach. It's not as easy as I thought it would be, but I got it done. I need to work on these more so they feel more normal. I always feel like I'm hobbling out of the house but then I get going and life is all right.
Today is the election. The only things I have to say about that are: Love God. Love People.
I really do hope you all are well. I miss you. I will hopefully get to catch up on these missed posts.
@hamsterwheel6 thanks for the shout out because I was so stressed about finding the Nov thread!

@Camaramandy648 3rd in AG without even trying....gotta love it!
@katharmonic beautiful pics, but looks really cold. I'm a wimp.

Hi All,
I'm late to the party here, as I just found this thread. In fact this is my first post on myfitnesspal!
I haven't run since November 2019, for a variety of reasons. I used to run a competent 10k but after a year's break I feel like I'm a beginner again. To get back in shape I'm going for 15 km per week (60 km for the month). I run almost strictly on the treadmill, unless I'm running a 5 or 10k, which hopefully I can do again one day!
So far my stats are (and this week will be better than most as I have the week off)
Nov 2 - 4km
Nov 3 - 4km11 -
11/1 – 5 miles
11/2 – 10K Monday
11/3 – 3 miles with Champ
14 of 120 miles
@katharmonic woohoo on the sub 10 min miles, awesome. I HATE snow but those pictures are just amazing, beautiful.
@Teresa502 sounds like a great run this morning. I love when it’s so peaceful like that.
My friend Miss Ann that I walk with some mornings has sold her house and is leaving for her new adventure up North. I’m going to miss her so much, what a wonderful woman. We stopped by this morning to say good bye and Champ got his treats. She’s very excited to be moving near her children and grandchildren but will be missed dearly by myself and a couple of my neighbors who have grown to love her.
Awesome @RunsOnEspresso you’ll do great.
@martaindale it’s always a challenge in the winter to get the clothes right. Yesterday was 35F here in the morning and I wore a long sleeve tech shirt and shorts, today was 32F and I put on a slightly warmer top and felt good. Under 40 I always wear gloves or my hands freeze.

@Camaramandy648 Big news on my front is that the surgery got postponed due to the increase in CoVID patients. They won't reschedule until the numbers go down. Glad you are doing good. I was asking about you a couple of days ago and someone said you were posting on Instagram and were out there running crazy amounts of miles.
Welcome @April_M_2015 . You'll love this group. Very supportive and friendly and inspiring and.....2 -
hamsterwheel6 wrote: »@shanaber those fun runs aren’t really all that fun lol are they. Those pushes and sprints! Kidding aside yes I do enjoy them. Who is your favorite instructor so far? Mine is Matty M he cracks me up. His Halloween tread run Is hysterical. Of course I like Becs, Andy, Robin, Matt, Olivia lol. They all have their own ways.
Be careful with glutes and as they love to say on Peloton, you do you.

Hi @quilteryoyo - thank you for your kind words and welcome. I am definitely looking forward to the group. I'm sorry to hear about the postponement of your surgery - let's hope those numbers go down soon.2

Welcome to all the newbies! Sorry I don't remember all of your usernames and @April_M_2015 is the only one I see on this page. This is a great group but it moves fast. Don't worry if you get behind just come in when you can and post an update or ask a question. Also please feel free to jump into the discussions, some running related and many not.
@katharmonic - beautiful! Will you continue to hike through the winter or will it get to the point that there is too much snow or it is too cold? Looks pretty cold already!
@Teresa502 - lic @hamsterwheel6 mentioned I signed up for my 2nd trial through my health insurance. It is actually better than the one I had initially through Peloton directly. I have access to all the content now even live workouts and the most currently recorded.
No run today but doing 2 HIIT type workouts for cross training! I hope everyone in the US has voted or has plans to vote!5 -
Welcome @April_M_2015 and other new people I might've missed!
@katharmonic those pictures are beautiful. Great hike!
I biked today... gotta find a better way to get to the back roads because I tried another route and the one road had way too many crazy drivers on it. Oh well, at least I know.
Great running, everyone!5 -
Thank you @shanaber and @polskagirl01!1

Welcome new people! @Camaramandy648 Good to see you! Congrats on doing so well in a real live race!
My husband and I continue to explore the wilds on the far side of the Wolf River. Monday we went the opposite direction from the way we went last time, saw a bunch of deer (the name of the Strava segment we were on turns out to be Three Mile Deer dodge) and kept going until we ran out of gravel and ended up on what seems to be not a people trail at all but a deer trail through pine forest. Although there were fresh horse hoof prints, so humans must ride there often. It was a really pretty day, perfect weather for wearing my new sleeves - too nippy before you warm up, then a little bit too warm. We went something over 8 miles total, about 5 running miles.
This was the view from where the official trail ended. Now I have to figure out how to get back to the beach on the other side!
This beautiful little trail isn’t even on the map. I love running on pine needles, so soft on your legs.7 -
I got cleared to run again by my doctor. I'm gonna tentatively plan for 30 miles this month. Let's hope I can find a babysitter often enough to actually run... baby is too young to be in a running stroller, and my husband and I work opposite shifts. All of my family are over an hour away.12

@Camaramandy648 The glass is always half full, but never half empty.2
-
@rheddmobile Sounds (and looks) like a really nice run! The "trail" looks so inviting to run on.
@brittanystebbins95 Glad you're back and cleared to run. Fingers crossed that you can find a baby sitter. Also glad to see that you are both working - Wasn't there something right before the baby about your DH being laid off?

Thank you!! And yes! He ruptured his bicep tendon. Second tear this year. He tore the other arm right at the beginning of all of this COVID nonsense. His surgeon said he's never met anyone with as terrible luck as him. He's finally able to be back to work. He's only part time right now because he still has to go back and finish the police academy in a few months, but the hours that he does work are the complete opposite of mine. The extra money is nice but it definitely complicates things.6
