11/22 - 150.6 - I give up trying to make sense of my weight. I mean, this is a pretty looking drop for end of round, but the way things are going, I'm sure it'll come right back up. Still have a bit of sniffles and stuffiness so hoping today won't put me back on recovery there with all the leaf blowing. No idea when I'll have the opportunity to do my 5k, I need to do some planning to figure it out. If I can't find time this coming weekend, I'll have to divide it into 2 - I can only be away from my computer during work about a half hour at a time at most for lunch. The time change put a damper on walking since I start work an hour or so before it starts to get light out and I'd have to miss dinner and be walking in the dark if I waited until after work. Bleh.
Previous Day's Comments11/13 - Dropping down. TOM is settling out finally and I'm feeling less bloated and heavy from it. THANKFULLY. That was miserable. Today I will be cleaning the bedroom in preparation for the reorganization and set up of the new bed. Not sure when BF will return. Either tomorrow or Sunday but I'd rather have it ready than not at all. Today, if the rain allows, I'll set up my garden with the new trellis. I've gotten spinach this week, too. I've planted one, but I bought a second small plant and want to plant that today before the worst of the rain. Hoping it holds off long enough for me to get out there after I've finished my coffee. Nothing terribly exciting going on.
11/14 - I don't know. Heavy dinner? There was a slice of pizza involved. I don't know otherwise. Met my minimum water goal and if you count my evening tea, I met my 75oz goal. Fasting has been going well since that day I was insatiably hungry. Between 16 and 17hrs daily. BF is coming home today, he's already on the road at this time. Its about 8-8.5hr drive so he'll be here for dinner. The pup will be very happy, as will I.
11/15 - DNP
11/16 - Yesterday was not good. I only got about 2 or 3 hours of good sleep. Woke up shivering for about 2 hours straight before falling asleep for only another hour. I didn't feel cold, but my body wouldn't stop shivering. Not quite sure what that was. Didn't weigh and didn't have the energy to get off couch to get my laptop to post. I just wanted to curl up and watch my football uninterrupted. Ended up making salmon last night for dinner with Fam, though, since we provided the fish and scallops. BF hadn't had a home cooked meal in a week so I wasn't going to allow him to cook, either. Then the dog decided to wake me up an hour early this morning and I'm quite cranky. I'm still feeling lack of sleep from yesterday. Feeling bloated, especially in the lower belly. Up near ribcage seems normal, which is an odd type of bloat for me. Usually my entire abdomen feels fluffy/squishy. Probably due to not fasting long at all - BF made us breakfast since it was his first morning home. Today, I want to hit 16hrs if possible. Wish I didn't have work so I could nap, I need it.
11/17 - Up and down up and down. Think its because I got a little more water in? Also took my allergy meds and some mucus/congestion relief, not sure how much an impact that made. Need to take some again, I'm still not feeling great in my sinuses. Causing a dull chronic headache all day yesterday and seems to be looking like that again today. I can breathe through my nose fine and my throat is a little less sore (less postnasal drainage, I'm guessing) but still not 100% better. I feel so sleepy but can't tell if that's from the constant slight headache and my body wanting to sleep all this off or what. Didn't get shivers last night, thankfully, so slightly more restful sleep. Only fasted 15.25hrs yesterday as BF made breakfast again for me (usually he only makes for himself so I think its just a matter of him being home and able to cook again he's making mini-feasts in the morning for us. Dinner was chili and I added some rice for the filling factor- I was STUFFED! Water wasn't great, didn't quite meet goal but I also had a couple large mugs of tea I didn't track. Bought some more tea that I think will soothe my throat better and some other teas for that caffeine punch. Already have the sinus headache, no need to intensify it with slight caffeine withdrawals (usually not bad for me if I'm feeling well, but feeling unwell always makes it feel worse). Taking it easy today - think we are working on the VW bug to get it road-ready before the weekend when BF will be gone Friday and then we all unload Saturday. Hopefully I'll feel better then by taking a few down days.
11/18 - Up up and away. Not sure if its lack of water (I'm not tracking my tea, though it is mostly water) or a heavy dinner (wasn't hungry, just peckish enough to eat a bit, but it was heavy) or my congestion meds. Throat a little better today, still a little achy and sore. My nose..... congested. Can still breathe through it but not while breathing heavily. All good, though. A bit of congestion is more tolerable than an achy throat that makes it difficult to swallow. Taken allergy meds 2 days in a row and my congestion meds to seem to help for a short bit. Too bad I found out yesterday I can only have them when I eat. Took with my fast-breaking honey tea and ended up running to grab some food, though not hungry, to help settle it. So I'm waiting until I break my fast to take them again today. Ended up a zombie this morning so after my morning meeting, I accidentally crashed. I was so tired I couldn't even keep my eyes open and could barely speak coherently. Slept from 7-10 on accident when BF woke me up finally. Luckily, I'm at a standstill at work until I get my feedback and so I can't do anything but sit and wait for that email. I feel loads better having gotten that extra rest. Hoping to be back on track Friday for the Turkey Trot!
11/19 - A little drop. Woke up and my stomach felt tight and bloated, though. Dinner was homemade burgers and I had a salad on the side for more veggies. Only ate half the burger, maybe a tiny bit more than half and called it good. Didn't snack. Lunch was much larger and didn't even finish that, just ate so I could take my congestion meds. The congestion is worse, I couldn't breathe out my nose for a period last night and now I can only partially breathe out of my right nostril (left is good to go). Have a bit of a sinus headache to go with this morning. Sleep was much better, though still waking up frequently. At least this time, I was able to sleep until my alarm. Met my minimum water goal yesterday so happy about that. Focusing on that again today. I want to take my meds but I'm relying on Vicks on my nose and chest to help for the time being. So stuffed up, I can't even smell the vicks in the slightest which is concerning. Usually I only lose smell when my nose is so stuffed I can't breathe. I have taste, though, and no other symptoms so still not worried about COVID. Just a weird sinus cold.
11/20 - Not sure if its the 96oz of water I drank (not including my tea) or the fact that I could barely finish a full meal. Didn't fast long, 13.5hrs. I went downhill fast yesterday with congestion. I was miserable. BF made me breakfast and made me eat it so I could take my meds. Also made me a hot toddy which I have to say really did help for a bit. Today, so far, is better. I can at least breathe through both sides of my nose. For now. I have only been awake a half hour... Depending on how I feel when the sun comes up, I may or may not do the 5k as planned. Its just a walk, but if the allergies outside, exposed for that long, are possibly going to make it worse, I'm not doing it. No need to make myself suffer longer, I might as well wait until I'm fully recovered (or, if I decide to go out and have to come back in, I'll do my 5k in parts/sessions and finish it another day without feeling bad about myself). Today I plan to fast normal (16-17hrs) since I'm out of meds anyway - I'll have to go to the store for more if I feel I need them later. Thinking I'll go back to bed here shortly and let my body rest - BF had to wake up to go down to help FamHub's mom finish moving with FamHub. Hopefully just a day trip, though a long one hence leaving so early. Of course, I can't sleep through it. And my body may feel unwell enough to allow me additional sleep which usually isn't like me (once I'm up, I'm up)
11/21 - I don't know. I really don't know. I had one bowl if soup for dinner and a hot toddy. I didn't have much to eat at all even at lunch (leftover chicken noodle soup). I didn't take meds. Just a lot lot of water/tea. Oh well. Feeling a tad bloated but it's slight so not worried. Body will bounce back. I don't LOOK like I've gained so there's something else going on internally and it won't last. I'm sure.
11/22 - Lots of walking and moving things as we unloaded the second uhaul. My arms are a bit sore. Today we will be leafblowing so that will be my "workout" for the day. Hoping it doesn't stir up allergies as I'm still a little sniffly.

Round 131 End Weight: 175.9
Round 132 Goals: Continue to Track & Make Healthy Food Choices, Minimize Alcohol, 30 Minutes Intentional Daily Movement, Lose 1.5 pounds
Day/Weight/Comment
11/13: 175.9 No change from yesterday but that was a big drop, so no worries there. On track with logging and staying at a deficit, AF currently on a 5 day streak (no plans to drink any time soon), and eating IF 16/8.
11/14: 175.7 A little drop from yesterday, so that's good! I was super tired yesterday when I woke up. My FitBit showed 41 times "awake" and 51 times "restless" during the previous night's sleep, so even though I know that FitBit sleep data isn't 100% accurate, I for sure had a bad night. Not enough sleep is a definite sabotage for me and while I wanted to give in and eat junk & drink wine, I did not and stayed the course, AF, IF 16/8, and all healthy food choices in a deficit. Other than that it was a dreary raining day, so I took a rest day but will be out running today.
11/15: 175.4 Had a nice long sleep in yesterday morning and then went for my run. Run felt pretty good but I'm a minute off where I would like my pace to be, but I'll keep plugging away and get there. NSV of the day, I made homemade pumpkin bread, logged the recipe and had a just a small slice that fit in my calories and was still at a deficit (I don't eat any exercise calories back unless I am distant running). Still AF and IF 16/8.
11/16: 174.6 Nice drop and puts me officially back in the "overweight" category, and out of the the much more upsetting category I've been hovering in since quarantine started. I will not go back to that! My AF streak continues and still IF 16/8 for eating.
11/17: 174.6 No Change from yesterday. Feeling a little bloated from yesterday, thinking too much sodium in my dinner. Lots of fluids today! Waiting for it to warm up a bit and then planning on getting a run in on my lunch hour. I need 6 more runs before our Turkey Trot next week. I've also got my local Turkey Trot that I normally do, which is also a virtual event this year. I'll miss lining up with everyone on Thanksgiving morning to run but I won't miss having to do it so early, it is usually about 19 degrees F when that race starts!
11/18: 174.5 Feels like it will be forever before I am out of the 170's at this rate, but progress is progress and I will get there eventually! Not a great run yesterday but still did it, will be back running again today. AF, IF 16/8.
11/19: 174.6 Yesterday got in another Turkey Trot training run, 1st cold run of the season, burr!
11/20: 174.6 Scale is not moving this week but I'm just .2lbs from round goal so hopefully will get there by Sunday! Yesterday was a rest day but have another run planned for today.
11/21: 174.2 Small drop puts me a goal weight for this round, but hoping for a larger drop tomorrow to end the round! Yesterday was a gorgeous day, sunny and almost 60 degrees when I went for my run. The run felt sluggish but I actually have shaved 43 seconds off my pace since Tuesday, still a long way to go to be back on form. Every little pound lost helps, I read years ago (not sure if it is true) that every pound you lose can shave 7 seconds off your running time. Still AF and IF 16/8.
11/22: 174.2 Hit my goal for this round, but just barely. Hopefully there is a whoosh coming soon! Had a good run yesterday, ran fartleks and bettered my pace by 1 min 18 seconds from Tuesday's run. It felt good to run with intention again instead of just going out and trying to survive and get through the run. See you in the next round!

11/13- 163.0 I dont know why!
11/14- 162.8 I am trying to drink 8 glasses of water a day, one would think that would be easy.
11/15- 162.1 Continuing downward trend but I am coming up on my weekend which is hard to stay on track.
11/16- 161.8 I know its hardly into 161 but I was excited to see it. I think all the water is helping.
11/17- 160.8 Hummm, not sure whats going on here. I have been below my cal goals for several days.
11/18- 161.6 I knew it was too good to be true.
11/19- 161.4
11/20- 161.4 No change today.
11/21- 160.9 So far so good, however I have noticed holiday goodies have started to show themselves.
11/22- 160.8 I'll take it.5 -

@quiltingjaine And many studies show it does. In any case, the sudden shift in calories should have nudged a little weight off, especially in the beginning, and it’s worked for me before. We’ll see next round.2 -

This daily check in has helped me in so many ways. It really shows that slow and steady, progress over time is possible.

ONE Goal - track food and calories faithfully. Stop pretending that handful of peanuts or small bag of chips or 6 tootsie rolls don't matter. I'm a snacker and I've realized that's not going to change. What can change is my prep for snacking. Will spend this weekend making healthy/lo-cal things to snack on to replace chips, cookies, peanuts, etc. I love fruit but sometimes I need the crunch and chew that fruit doesn't provide.
Count days track food and stay under calories: :)

11/13: 220.6 (0.0)/29.1 (0.0).
11/14: 219.6 (-1.0)/28.8 (-0.3). I am going to do some strength training today, even if it means using a crappy machine, body weight exercises, and some rubber bands. It's time. Being here is great, but exercise is the other main ingredient in my overall health and fitness. Time to step it up.
11/15: 219.2 (-0.4)/28.8 (0.0). I actually exercised yesterday. I did not do a ton of stuff, but I hit most body parts, and I put a decent effort in. I'm definitely feeling it this morning. Knowing myself and my body, I'm going to shoot for twice per week to start; depending on how long this feeling lasts, I might even wait until Friday or so to allow myself to recover (after such a long layoff).
11/16: 219.8 (+0.6)/28.9 (+0.1). I think this is more due to weighing in earlier during the work week than I do on the weekend. I'm not feeling super-sore today; I may try exercising again today.
11/17: 218.4 (-1.4)/28.6 (-0.3). This is a nice drop. I've been REALLY good with my diet. Last night I was pretty sore from working out recently, but I MIGHT try to exercise again tonight. No matter what, I'll get some exercise in either tonight or tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well (or at least okay).
11/18: 218.2 (-0.2)/28.5 (-0.1). I was exhausted yesterday, and I'm not completely sure why. Yes, there's still stress at work. COVID-19 still sucks. But I basically napped for 3-4 hours after dinner, stayed up for an hour or so, then went to bed (and slept through the night). Weird. I have a little headache this morning, and I have a LOT of work to do. Food was easy yesterday. On-plan all day, and I continue to cut down on "unnecessary" snacking.
11/19: 218.6 (+0.4)/28.6 (+0.1). I'm going to assume that this is normal fluctuation instead of getting angry at the scale today. It happens. Tonight is my 9th wedding anniversary, and I'll be keeping my celebration VERY keto-friendly (steak and veggies). I'm really glad tonight is #9, because my wife would be REALLY pissed if #10 got blown off in the middle of COVID-19...
11/20: 220.2 (+1.6)/28.9 (+0.3). I simply ate too much last night, and I had a glass and a half of red wine. I'm just going to own it. I'm going light for lunch today, and I'll eat normally tonight (on-plan). My brother-in-law and his girlfriend are coming over tonight. I will do some drinking, but not more than 3-4 ounces of the hard stuff (mixed with something zero-calorie). I'm still hopeful that I can get below 219.0 for the challenge, even though I have a long weekend. Last night was an aberration; meal planning makes staying on-track relatively easy.
11/21: 219.0 (-1.2)/28.7 (-0.2).
11/22: 218.0 (-1.0)/28.5 (-0.2). Is today the last day of the round? Somehow I messed things up and thought tomorrow was the last day. Oh well. I'm happy that things are ending on a positive note, though. I snacked a bit too much last night, but apparently it did not have any deleterious effects.

Round 132
Age: 39
Height: 5’ 3”
SW: 163
CW: 139.6
GW: 125
GW for this round: 138
Round 126 (1): 156 to 153.2 (-2.8 lbs)
Round 127 (2): 153.2 to 150.4 (-2.8 lbs)
Round 128 (3): 150.4 to 148.0 (-2.4 lbs)
Round 129 (4): 148.0 to 146.0 (-2.0 lbs)
Round 130 (5): 146.0 to 144.4 (-1.6 lbs)
Round 131 (6): 144.4 to 139.6 (-4.8 lbs)
Goals for this round:
- Lose 1.5 lbs
- Run/walk my evening walk with the dog to work up to a 5K by Thanksgiving
- Start a body weight strength training program 3x a week
11/13 - 140.2 - Slight increase from the end of last round, but not surprising given my recent drops. Feeling very tired today too, so I cut my morning workout down.
Turkey Trot 5K - I tried to run the 1.6 mile route last night, but the doggie didn’t want to come with me! She was more interested in sniffing and I had to cajole her the whole way. This might require a new plan. 😂
11/14 - 140.4 - One of the things I love about this group (on top of the awesome support and accountability) is having all these notes for reference. I had a super hungry day yesterday - ate all my planned calories, within my usual macros and was still so hungry. So I looked back at my notes from previous rounds - and the same thing happened almost exactly a month ago right before my TOM. That let me relax about it, and warned me that my weight probably was going to hold today and go up for the next few days. But it’s just hormones/water retention and it will be back down again soon.
Turkey Trot 5K - 1.5 mile walk last night. Will try to do a 1.5 mile walk with the dog tonight, then drop her off and run the route a second time.
11/15 - 140.8 - The scale is what it is this morning. Was high on calories yesterday (1,800 instead of 1,600) - just kept snacking - but I did get two good workouts in so I feel less guilty about it. Thought I’d take it easy today, but then DH proposed taking the kids on a hike - so I got in a 3 mile hike (which involved either pushing a 30 lb toddler in a stroller, controlling a 50+ lb dog who did NOT want to heel, or carrying said 30 lb toddler when he refused to go back in the stroller after he got the taste of freedom.) So much for a rest day!
Turkey Trot 5K - Did 2.57 miles last night - walked the first 1.57 with the dog, then ran another mile. Just wasn’t quite feeling up to doing the full 1.57 running, but I’ll get there.
11/16 - 141.4 - Ok, the scale can go back down any time now. 😣 Even knowing the “why” doesn’t make it easy to see that number in the morning. Not feeling great today so I only did about 45 minutes of cardio this morning. Will have to try and do the strength exercises throughout the day.
- Walked 1.57 miles yesterday.
11/17 - 140.6 - Ok, right direction! Let’s just keep that up. Focusing now on my daughter’s birthday on Friday - she’s been so excited about turning 5 and I want to do everything I can to make it special even without her friends coming over for a party.
11/18 - 140.2 - Back to where I started this round, at least. I’m still sticking to my calories and workouts, so I’m optimistic that the number will continue to go down from here. I may not make my goal this round, but I’m not giving up.
Turkey Trot 5K - Walked/jogged 2 miles last night.
11/19 - 139.4 - Yay, progress! Happy to be down from last round.
11/20 - DNW - Today’s my daughter’s 5th birthday - stayed up late making a balloon garland, didn’t exercise since I had a cake to bake this morning and simply haven’t had time to step on the scale. Honestly, my weight doesn’t matter to me today - what matters is the joy on her face when she sees what we’ve done to make the day special for her and that she knows we love her. One of the reasons I want to lose weight and get in shape is to be the best mom I can for her and her little brother - but days like this remind me to keep the scale in perspective.
Turkey Trot 5K - Sorry, forgot this yesterday! Have been running/walking a 1.8 mile loop with the doggie at night.
11/21 - 139.4 - Considering the amount of sodium and carbs I had yesterday, I’m perfectly fine with this number. I’d have liked to get a little bit more under 140 before the holidays, but it will help keep me from relaxing TOO much. I had a nice NSV yesterday too: I saw the pictures my husband took of me during our family celebration - and I didn’t hate them!!! It’s been years since I’ve been able to look at a picture of myself without cringing and I avoid them whenever possible. It’s still a WIP, but I’m so happy with the difference already.
Turkey Trot 5K - Could only do a mile yesterday since my time was limited. Will try to do walk/jog first loop then run the second tonight.
11/22 - 138.8 - Not the loss I hoped to achieve this round, but it’s still a net loss. Will try and hold steady through Thanksgiving next week. Both kids were “playing” Ring Fit with me this morning - it was so adorable to see them trying to sidestep and run along with me. See you in the next round!
Turkey Trot 5K - Jog/walked the whole 3.1 miles last night. Now I have a total time to work downwards from.
Total Round Loss - 0.8 lbs

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Round 132
Month/Day: Weight / Comment
11/13: 208 / So, I have lost 6.8 pounds since Tuesday morning. Goes to show how much of a puffer fish I am. 😊 Going up tomorrow most likely.
And, yesterday included a Culver’s Mini Concrete Mixer…Oreo Flavor.
NSV: I actually pulled a half gallon of ice cream out of the freezer last night…thought about the consequences…and put it back unopened. That’s big for me. HA!
11/14: 207.6 / Sat in a tree stand last night trying to be cupid for the deer. Freezer needs to be restocked. None were close enough, but they looked like they did not need cupid’s help. That time of year. P.S.: I don’t hunt for anything that I will not eat.
11/15: 209.6 /
11/16: 210.2 / I am happy with this for a Monday morning.
11/17: 210.6 / popcorn
11/18: 208.8 / My mom’s birthday today, so a little birthday cake may be on the menu. 😊
11/19: 209.2
11/20: DNW
11/21: 209 / no check-in yesterday due to (successful) deer hunting day. Had to get up so early and didn’t feel like checking. I had kind of a carbo/salt loaded supper on the 19th, so I am sure it would have spiked up yesterday morning. LOTS of exercise tromping through the brush and briars yesterday brought me to 209 this morning.
11/22: 210 / even though I ended higher than I started, this was a vey successful round by any other metric. My starting weight was very low. My average for the round was over two pounds less than the previous round. I needed this before the dreaded thanksgiving weekend. It is only dreaded because of calorie intake. Thanksgiving is actually my favorite family holiday, and “gratitude” has been my word for the year. I chose that word at the New Year, not knowing the challenges we would have ahead in 2020, so it has served me well. See you all next round.

Day/Weight/Comment
11/12 …..207.4….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
11/13 …..207.6….. I was horribly and uncontrollably hungry yesterday. My choices weren’t too bad but the quantities were disgusting.
11/14 …..210.0 ….. OMGosh! A friend brought Chinese Food over from out-of-town yesterday. I’m in shock. All low carb/low cal veggies for today and praying for no sugar drop as I compensate.
11/15 …..208.6 ….. Lost some of the bloat. Stuck to mainly healthy as planned yesterday. I will try to do the same today although I am already fighting the hunger from such low cal yesterday. I can do this…… Horrible cold rain today. Better than the usual snow I suppose. Gloomy.
11/16 …..207.2 ….. I continue to work that bloat back down. I have been getting in lots of movement to the point of being sore. I wouldn’t call it exercise. Just hard work. However, every burned calorie counts, right?
11/17 …..209.0 ….. Big time fluid retention. Very little water shedding (or TMI either). Quantities and meal sizes were good. Choices…meh. Today is the last day for restaurants in my state. I will probably have a carry-out meal tonight with my son. Otherwise, I will try to stay mindful.
11/18 …..209.0 ….. I did horrible yesterday due to time constraints. Thank Goodness this wasn’t worse!
11/19 …..208.4 ….. Finally shed a normal amount of water yesterday (#1) so, while this loss may not be fat, it is welcomed.
11/20 …..208.4 ….. Moving today. It should be the final push out. Lots of work ahead today!
11/21 …..208.4 …..
11/22 …..208.1 ….. Wow! Internet people traveled 2 hours each way on Sunday just to get the problem resolved. I’m baaaaaack.

I'm in! Thank you, @GrandmaJackie!
70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. Recovered from back surgery then hip surgery!! Got back to walking then I sprained my ankle. UGH! I was down for 6 weeks with the ankle. Getting back to it slowly.
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.
