Tracey There are many reasons for snoring and finding the reason may be elusive. For hypnosis to be effective, the suggestion must address the cause directly. If you have a Clinical Psychologist PhD or MD that practices hypnosis or works with a licensed clinical hypnotist in your area, you might visit with them and see what they say. There are hypnosis tapes sold online that claim to stop snoring, but I am leary of hypnosis outside a clinical setting and especially if it is 'one suggestion that applies to all'. I also snore right as I go to sleep and for about 15 minutes, then it wakes me up choking and is from nasal drainage going down my throat. While there are medications that can stop this, they are dangerous for my wide-angle glaucoma. Hypnosis would be effective if your snoring is from a sleeping position and the suggestion keeps you from getting in that position. Snoring is a tough one to treat by any means.

My ER Trip:I did go to the ER, but alas, there is "Nothing we can do unless you're in hemorrhagic shock." Well I guess it's good I wasn't in that condition. In any case, I have to "live with it" for now. I have an appt. with a specialist on Friday. It needs to end. I cannot leave my house for more than a few minutes. I cannot exercise. Can't even bend over without getting light headed. I can't be in the kitchen long enough at one time to make dinner. I'm slightly anemic. I am taking iron supplements, but I think they cannot keep up. I am losing weight faster than is probably healthy.
Tina
I really hope you can get in to see a gynaecologist who will do full ultrasounds to see if there is anything to be concerned about. It sounds like there might be. Is the specialist you'll see on Friday a gyn?

@auntiebk lived for 2 years in my 30s with significant other in an apartment lent by my significant other's mom (delighted to have us nearby after many years of not seeing her son much). Of course we were extremely grateful and there was a pretty family antique or two, but I would not have wanted to be totally surrounded by his mom's stuff very long term, as nice as it was. There's a whole vibe about family of origin stuff. Well I've often found significant other can be regressive around his family and possibly around family stuff.

The only slang meaning I knew of "caution" was in High School when boys would say among themselves a girl was a caution if they might get their hands slapped for attempting to touch forbidden places. I like the British meaning also.
‘You are a caution’ means you crack me up with your humour 😂
I keep forgetting that our sayings ar different 😂
Yes, I was guessing that was what it meant but I looked it up and was delighted to learn it was a high compliment. Thank you! Making people laugh has been my goal since 1st grade in school. It never earned me great grades, honorable appreciation, or Valedictorian as it should have, but I did get lots of exercise walking to the principal's office.

Did some writing this morning.
My Christmas present I ordered from DH to me turned up. I gave it straight to him, without opening it, to wrap.
Chorizo and lentil stew tonight. I might be spending the night upstairs.
Covid numbers have gone down significantly nationwide over the lockdown. We come out on Wednesday and go into tiers. We are tier 2 here. Still can't see the grandchildren because Edie has had to quarantine because her teaching assistant has it. Brighton and Hove is getting considerably lower, especially the over 65s.
I feel very sorry about the local economy though.

Netflix??
I think it might be available in Australia now but if so it's really new. I haven't looked into it at all. I don't know what would be involved in setting it up if it is available.

@Machka9 that's quite a gym! wow!
Last week was not a good one. Such long confinement or semi-confinement is not good for me.
My life was not easy but there were some possibilities, and some real growth and opportunity pre-covid. Everything seems so difficult at present, and closed and closing off.
I have 22h of classes face to face with the young adults (higher ed), and after that (plus a meeting or two) I wish for no more FaceTiming...
Now we are allowed to travel 20k for 3h for leisure, (plus shopping, etc) not 1 km for 1h: big difference. Many many shops are open again. not restaurants and cafés yet.
I've been cantankerous the past week. Well, I'm the only active woman in this collective for workers rights. The guys are mostly about 60ish. And there is a tendency to be slightly more respectful to the guys and to their opinons than mine. Like if I do something they doesn't' say anything but if a guy does it they say "thank you George." and they are happy that I do the organization, AND too consult with me individually BUT in public meetings they tend to favour the words and speech of the guys. They are (not surprisingly) unaware. I know I'm not going to resolve millennial insidious sexism, of a handful of 60 year old guys, (who are, relatively-speaking, not too bad) with one good talking to. But from time to time I find it unbearable. They don't even really get it. For example I questioned a different approach to collective letter writing strongly. rather than questioning my way of questioning I was generally criticised in general terms. I asked that the criticiser see the difference between criticising actions and approaches and criticising people in over-arching terms. I think they didn't get it.
And so on.
Another thing
This neighbour added me to a WhatsApp group of some neighbourhood friends they he has known for years. they mostly have kids that are about 14 that went to the same nursery school! That's how they met. They added me on but they I really felt like an outsider. It gave a weird feeling. It's hard to explain.
Some of them are relatively prominent, like journalists, in a major paper, etc., but very lowkey and seemed fun face to face.
But I had the feeling that some were uncomfortable that I be in the group. (where they tended to send group invitations) for get togethers.
This is the guy that seemed to blow me off.
Very sketchy. he was inviting me a lot and having coffee all the time and very suddenly only coffee inside, never outside. I'm about 99.99% sure he's seing someone and trying to hide it. I don't mind at all as I don't have a feeling about him that way. but hate the secrecy. He was definitely on the prowl in the beginning, but maybe for a quick fling. He invited me many times to group meal, but only with certain people and not others. And from such and such a time only for coffee inside not outside...
Etc Etc, and the president announced ONLY universities won't open until February: bars, gyms, restaurants, yes
And that they will see in February how things are going, virus wise before opening.
And I work in higher ed....
It's really sad for those of us stuck at home for a year, as well as for our students.
It's definitely to avoid the protests that were organised in universities last February and march.
after not going out for months I lose the wish to be sociable to some degree. it's just so hard.

Tracey, if your house were in my neighborhood, I would admire it and tell my husband about it. It is cheery and personal. Walking after dark is a great experience for introverts like me or people like you who are surrounded by so many others at work and would like time alone. I am aiming to make my evening walk a scheduled event so I do it regularly. Right now the weather is perfect. I will have to rethink it on the nights that it is too icy for even my YakTrax.
I enjoyed the curbside pickup of groceries so much yesterday that I woke up this morning thinking about what I might need so I could do it again.

Bananas & Oranges I am thankful that the worker's rights activism is in my past. I was the Union Shop Steward for years for our center and when push came to shove, the guys always left me standing alone. I grew tired of filing and pleading their grievances just to have them cower when management retaliated.
The story of your coffee date guy is the story of my romantic life. Guys never wanted to accept the total package which I admit would be hard to live with, but the idea of being a shadow date or mistress never appealed to me. It is out in the open or nothing. The one that really amazed me was a few years ago, a really nice guy that always left his cell at his house. I suspected he was seeing another woman. He was but it was his 85-year-old mother that had tracking on his phone and she wouldn't approve of me and he avoided being questioned by his mother why he was at a certain restaurant, etc., by just not having his cell with him. Did he not ever think of getting his own cell? Well, that would be hard to do since he shared a bank account with his mother. He thought I was cold for saying no to just coffee and a chat. I suggested he get professional help.3 -
. . . New Ways November
30: Look for reasons to be hopeful, even in difficult times: talk less, listen more, words of hope come from the most unexpected mouths!
Sat with Joe instead of taking time to comment fully last night/this morning. He was unusually talkative. Maybe he was a little nervous about today’s follow up appointment. He was surprisingly upbeat and funny. He disclosed that before this horrible experience began, he’d been having more trouble seeing than he told me. When he looked at the sky, there was a big brown spot in the middle. (He’d already let me know that he couldn’t see past the first pole on the powerline. Now he can see all three.) Then he confessed that after one early appointment “when his eyes were messed up” (?dilated?) he had pulled out onto the highway from a gas station, right in front of an oncoming truck. He said “as horrible as this experience has been, I’d do it again. I don’t want to forget how bad it was before.” Please dear friends, one last blast of positive thoughts for his final followup today at 10:00PST.
Lighter, lovelies!

Barbie: We tried curb side pick up one time. The food they brought us was all top quality. It was also more expensive than the choices we ordinarily make. We enjoyed it very much but haven’t done it again. :ohwell: We saw the beautiful full moon, too. Stunning! I look forward to the new thread tomorrow, and thank you for it. It is a gift I value.
Flea: It is nice to hear about your nearby subdivision’s food drive. It is a generous thing that they’re doing. I’m sorry about the loss of your puppy. Your kitty is a cutie. Does she like to bat at the ornaments that are in her reach?
(((Tina:))) I hope your upcoming medical appointment will improve your situation. Machka’s suggestion about seeing a gyn has merit.
Heather: Local economy woes are likely repeated around the world in one version or another. Our local grocery stores, pharmacies, and hardware stores are open and currently well stocked. The visit I took at the store in the next town up the road was abysmal by comparison. I don’t plan to go there again in the near future. Our local Walmart was amazingly busy with low product availability. Our Safeway store had everything that I wanted to buy. Medium grain brown rice was my main objective and they had it in stock. YAY!!! On the other hand, the movie theater is closed again, and beauty shops are also closed again. Restaurants are open for curb side pickup. The bottom line is that we all have to live our way through this pandemic. :ohwell:
Barbie: We have Yak Trax and I have no idea where they are. So far we haven’t even had a light frost. I doubt that will remain the case and it would be a good idea for me to hunt for the Yak Trax. Thanks for mentioning them. :flowerforyou:
Barbara: Sending positive thoughts for your DH’s follow up appointment.
Carol: I hope the gloom and cold eases away. We’re having a rainy morning.
I want to start putting up Christmas lights at our place. They are all stored in the garage attic. I hope to have DH’s help. I plan to be at the top of the ladder sitting in the storage area and using a pully to send the boxes down to him. I anticipate that he will put the boxes on a table in the garage. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the table when I went into the garage to look for it.

Barbara Sending lots of positive thoughts for Joe and glad he is sharing. I sure hope his results from today are great. Encourage him to share more and be happy about it. Remind him that a few ladies on your fitness app also have glaucoma and it is in his best interest to talk in detail to you because the spin these ladies are putting on it is making him look less manly.

Heather - I love the starling photo. It gave me a little bit of cheer.

Thank you all for the virtual hugs and support concerning my daughter. I needed that. I did tell her not to call me if all she was going to do was “yell” at me. And yes, it’s best I try to redirect the conversations, but she is much like her father. Will continue to bring it up. I can only try and not give up. I will not give up on any of my children!
Going to put up some decorations today to get rid of the gloom. Maybe bake keto goodies too!

Well, I have an appt. at the gyn office. However, the particular doctor I'm seeing is not one I'm familiar with, nor is the ER doc, who knows most of them at that clinic. My goal was to get in the door as soon as possible. The doctor I like at that clinic is not available until late January.
