Hi everyone, still here, still mad busy at work and squeezing in treadmill runs when I can. Miss hearing all your news and looking forward to being able to be around more in the Christmas holidays (5 more work days!!).
Mileage isn’t as high as I’d hoped but it seems I miscalculated my total for year to date. I’ve revised my goal downwards as still want to hit 800 miles for the year.
Hope you’re all well - thinking of all of you. Hoping @quilteryoyo all is ok with the deferred surgery and I haven’t missed anything? And that @Avidkeo is back to it without any issues. Think I read @kgirlhart has an injury too? No doubt @Camaramandy648 has been doing more epic feats!
Sorry I’ve been rubbish - will catch up this weekend but hugs to all.

I think I am going to have to do something crazy and buy a garmin as well as have my existing Apple watch (and that hurts!) as I just can't take the risk that, on what might be my one and only marathon, my watch dies and I don't get a record of it or worse that my HR goes mad and I don't realise and stuff it up entirely!
Trekz is going on the present list so thank you @polskagirl01 @shanaber and @RunsOnEspresso . Won't be for Christmas so getting ready for next years birthday, on the list with a shoe drier that was recommended to me.
On shoes I just cannot throw away a pair unless they have 400 miles on them. When work calms down my marathon training is going to be 40+ miles a week and I cannot imagine buying a new pair every month or so if I stuck to 200 miles. I buy two pairs at a time and use them alternate weeks so I don't need to shop too often and I have cover if one pair develops a fault.
Pretty darn impressive @ContraryMaryMary and my mouth is watering right now!
That is a fantastic update @quilteryoyo for both family and the squirrels!

Strangest thing seen running - my reflection in the shop window, I never thought I would run!

well, a parrot is pretty normal in the warm weather.
i saw a tegu while running...her name was genenot a picture from running

@Avidkeo Bailey's. If you use enough, I think the truffles would survive 6 weeks to the US.
Do you put alcohol in truffles? My recipe doesn't call for it.
@rheddmobile Glad you are in tune with your heel and it isn't getting any worse. Great run. I would think the parrot would NOT like to be out in the cold. I hope it doesn't get sick for the "ride."

We seem to have had a little bit of a set back on the CoVID front. Dad isn't feeling well at all this morning. I haven't talked to him yet. He was asleep when I talked to mom. She said his oxygen level was down when he first got up and couldn't breath well. It went back up before he went back to sleep. He also has a consistent low grade temp, even with Tylenol. Mom said she isn't feeling as good as she was yesterday, but she's okay. Her words. I'm still doing good. I'm hoping after a nap dad will feel better and won't have a fatalistic attitude. I'm going to try to get him to do some breathing exercises too. He has breathing issues anyway, so it is really hard to determine if it is "normal" or CoVID. I think the breathing exercises will help, regardless. I just hope I don't have to take him back to the VA.

Mostly sunny, lower 40s F, and a little breeze from the south. Took a chance on short and a long sleeved tech shirt and was fine. Winter clothes really weigh me down.

@quilteryoyo I hope your dad feels better after his nap. I'm sure this is stressful for all involved. It would definitely make me nervous to have a parent with long term breathing issues and COVID because it can be so hard to know what is "normal" for them and the tipping point for needing medical care would be so much tighter.1

nope she rests on her owner's shoulder. or mine. she was super friendly
you could take a picture with her for free but a donation was recommended. Her keeper had an alternative lifestyle

@Avidkeo I vote Bailey's! I have some salted caramel vodka that I bet would be delicious in some kind of truffle. But I'm too lazy to make anything myself so I'll just have the vodka and some chocolate and I'm sure it will be fab. It goes great with hot chocolate or hot apple cider by the way.
@rheddmobile a parrot in a stroller is quite sight! I too think the parrot probably didn't want to be riding around out there. And @mbaker566 I don't think I've heard of a tegu before. They're pretty large it sounds like.
I'm trying to think of something strange I've seen while running. I'll have to come back to that question. Mostly strange people probably, wearing strange things. Like a guy wearing only a thong bikini during a Spartan race.

It's an amazing sunny day today and unseasonably warm. I couldn't pass up going to the long run meet-up. It was about 39F degrees to start but is topping out in the low 50s. There was some black ice on the asphalt path though with the temps just warming up, so we had to be really careful in some shady areas. I told coach about my high hamstring issues, but it was feeling almost normal when I got out of bed this morning so I decided to try a litttle longer run i it was still feeling good after getting started. Coach said to keep my strides short, don't over-extend and take it easy. He has experienced it before and lots of his runners so he was encouraging about being able to get over it. I actually had lots of one-on-one time with the coach because everyone else was running faster or slower. I felt okay after the first 20 minutes and decided I would do an hour as my long run of the week. The sun was really nice and warm as we finished up. I stretched a bit and got home to take a hot bath. Now that I'm sitting, it feels a little achey in that spot, but hopefully I didn't make it worse. I'll foam roll it later too. Now to get some work done, even though I really just want to go outside some more and take advantage of a 50 degree day in mid December.6 -

Went down to see dad. I guess that is one advantage of all three of us having CoVID. I don't know how I would handle it if I didn't have it and had to isolate from them. Anyway, he wasn't feeling the best, but was doing better than early this morning. He has a spirometer from his heart surgery years ago, so I am having him use that. I think the deep breathing will help. Fingers crossed that he keeps feeling better and will be even better tomorrow. Mom's feeling a little worse than yesterday too, but still doing good. I need to research and see if ebb and flow of symptoms is normal.

Slow and steady is winning this December race. Feeling good about my 2 miles now, so working my way back up and my next goal is running 2.5 and then 3 to see how I feel with that. It's not taking long to get back, but want to make sure I ease back into running and avoid injury!9 -
Another 2 mile walk today. It was raining when I got up and still dark, so I did yoga first and then walked afterwards when it was through raining and the sky was starting to lighten. It was kind if chilly for walking, but would have been perfect for running. I was good though and didn't run even though I wanted to. Yesterday's lunchtime run reminded me of why I run in the mornings. Even in December it can be hot for running. I am planning to try a run either tomorrow or Sunday depending on the weather. My hip feels mostly good. Really the only time it is bothering me now is if I have been sitting for a long time it feels stiff when I first get up, but once I move around it feels better. The problem with accounting is the busier you are, the more you sit.

@rheddmobile A parrot in a stroller is definitely strange. @skippygirlsmom think the strangest thing I have seen when running was 2 girls walking goats. They had them on leashes and they were very cute. I also once saw a dachshund in a tree.

Strange things I've seen while running. A large white rabbit just chilling out, by itself, in a park. A dude walking eight Corgis at the same time.
