During the month of January, we lost a staggering 81.6 lbs. That's heavier than the world's largest ball of tape!

    Huge congrats to:

@jedaschultz - Looks like you are holding pretty steady.

@goingape - this can't be your previous weight from last week. It must be a typo or previous from another week. Either way, hang in there!

And pw should have been 141.8.

Sorry it’s a total Monday brain.

To explain I did have a rough eating weekend. I went all in on Sunday. 😭

    Hi all,

Wow, it's so impressive to see how much everyone has lost over the past month - what an awesome team <3<3

@rachelrjh - ooh, we're almost weight twinsies! Also 39, in the mid 180s, aiming for 140 as a starting point but would ideally like to be closer to 130 (will assess how I feel/look when I eventually get there).

@ljdanny - I feel like running round after little ones is def a calorie burner so maybe it balanced out being under on some steps? :)

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - I feel you, seems like I've been going up and down between these same pounds for months now. This WILL be the month we both keep it moving in the right direction :) Though I know you do a lot more weight training than me, so maybe it's coming off as inches rather than pounds x

@debbiewsharpe - I have actually tried that but sadly it tends to go like; 'am I hungry?' 'not really but I wants it' - think I need to work on my willpower :D

@RoseyandReady - I'd say 0.5 is really more of a maintain, but new month, new start :)

@goingape - hehe, Monday brain gets us all

So, hasn't been too bad a weekend. Have stuck to my calories and am trying to make the effort to meal plan more. Had a nommy dinner tonight of veggie haggis, scrambled eggs, and mushroom (you can't beat brinner - ie breakfast for dinner lol! Anyone else getting the Scrubs reference?)
Exercise has not been as good - had a bit of a 'bad head day' yesterday, where my mental health was playing up a lot. Managed not to binge on junk food but the exercise was sadly a step too far. I shall try and focus on the positive not the negative though, as my therapist keeps telling me!

I decided to make a fancy, evil cheesecake for a friend's birthday. He made a 'cheesecake' with his kid and he got the cheesecake I made and shared some of theirs...

1/4+ inch layer of oreo crust, layer of...m&m's?, layer of chocolate cheesecake, 1/4+inch think layer of chocolate frosting. Covered with m & m's. I ate 1/2 of a piece...I'm estimating 250 calories. And I can't get this cloying sweet out of my mouth. I'm more of a New York style girl...that was almost gross. Way too sweet.

There's still a whole piece in there. I think it is looking at me. I am afraid.

Intro to follow - I've been a bit MIA and missed last week's weigh-in. I had a migraine and a very large work-load at work (that's not going to change any time soon) and I kind of just didn't log into the community. I think I'll just start again for Feb...

    Weigh day; Sunday
    PW: 245.5
    CW: 247.3 (112.2kg)
    LTD: 92.1 lbs (41.8kg)

So this month, I would like to lose some weight. I'm a bit sick of bouncing up and down the same few kg, so something's gotta give I think.

I don't want to change my calorie deficit, because what I'm following is safe for my ED recovery, so I'm going to focus on logging consistently, and exercising consistently.

Great plan, Kristi. Sorry you had to go through the migraine and I hear you in the workload. You’ve got this.

I’m Kristy, I'm 42 and from New Zealand, married for 18 years and have 4 kids – 17, 15 and 12 (twins). 2 girls, 2 boys and if you ask me if my g/b twins are identical, I will tell you yes (why do people always ask?)

By day, I am a fearless Technical Writer, braving the realm of a male-dominated engineering company and translating their stick-figures, mutterings and wild gesticulations into payments compliance for the end product in various world-wide markets. By night (and early morning) I kick *kitten* in my own home (garage) gym. I am a qualified Personal Trainer, but that doesn’t pay the bills - hence the muttering engineers, it’s a living – but I love knowing what I’m doing in training myself and my teenage son. Hubby is also qualified, so we usually train together.

    That Weight Thing
It’s a long story, that involves being overweight since childhood, super-morbidly obese in my 20s and early 30s, and being diagnosed with both Binge Eating Disorder and Anorexia (while I was still ‘overweight’ on the scale).

Quite a few years back I turned down weight loss surgery, decided to lose weight on my own, and lost 160+ lbs. Then, after maintaining for a few years, it crept back on, about 100 lbs of it. I hadn’t dealt with *why* I got to be so heavy. That took addressing my ED’s, a lot of therapy, being banned from tracking my food, and redeveloping my relationship with food before I could look at losing weight again in a healthy way. That’s what I’m doing now.

    Health
I did quite a bit of damage to my body when I lost a lot of weight the first time. Mostly from under-eating (which I didn’t realise at the time) and also from fainting a few times. The past 7 years I have been diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Chronic Pain and severe migraines. It has been very limiting, and I hate being limited. I’ve seen so many doctors, specialists and alternative therapists that it’s a running joke – most of them don’t have a clue how to fix me. Recently we think I have Myofascial Pain Syndrome, and treatment for that has allowed me to be pain-free a lot more than usual. So I’m feeling pretty great!

    2021
My goal for each month is to finish it lighter than I started, and for this year I’m working on making changes to my body through weight-lifting, regular cardio and a moderate calorie deficit. I’d like to look something like I did at my lowest weight, but without the active ED.

    The Past Few Months
My weight has been bouncing up and down the same few kg, but I am regularly lifting weights *and* I now fit into a pair of pants that have been sitting in my drawer that never fit me before. My smaller t-shirts are also feeling looser on me. And I can fit into some of them.

I need to remember that even though the scale might not move, it's a lying *kitten* and sometimes other changes are happening. Which doesn't mean that I can't tighten up my logging, but I also need to be kind to myself and accept that losing weight in my 40's is a *kitten* compared to my 30's!

    I love your writing.

Great way to focus on the positive, Shelli. Question for you. Is this haggis actual haggis? I know sometimes it’s more like a sausage casing. In Canada, where so many of us are is Scottish descent, we do love haggis but only get it on Robbie Burns Day. Come to think of it, that was last week. Leftovers?

I’m with you on the cloying sweet. I like a plain, Japanese, fluffy cheesecake. Speaking of someone who doesn’t like cloying, when my daughter was almost three and it was Easter, we guided her through the house with her Easter basket to show her how to collect all the chocolate eggs. When we got to the jackpot (big chocolate bunny) behind a living room chair, she looked at us both and said, “Doesn’t the Easter Bunny know? Chocolate makes me gag.”

@mwlaniescott - that cheesecake does sound sweet! :) but also yummy. My husband loves cheesecake and I haven't made one in a long time. Thanks for the idea, I may make one for Valentine's Day. <3
