I'm starting to train for a Grand Canyon rim-to-rim hike which is the first part of June so I expect to do more hiking this month. I will set my running goal at 100 miles.
Thanks for setting us up @katharmonic!
Welcome @happyness4me!
Congrats on the new job and new location @hanlonsk!9 -

Hi all - I’m Matt. I’m training for the lighthouse 50 in June and starting an 800 mile run/bike/walk 2 month challenge hosted by a local running store tomorrow. I just recently passed my two year run anniversary mark recently and I’m excited to follow everyone’s March progress.12

Welcome @OneMooreMile!2

@martaindale Looking forward to your hiking pictures!!
Congratulations @hanlonsk ! You will survive the move and we look forward to hearing about all the new running trails, and food, that you are going to experience.
Welcome @happyness4me ! This is a great group.

No mileage goal, my usual March goal is not to get injured since I have a habit of increasing mileage as the weather improves and overdoing it!
My hip feels like it is doing better, I will know more after running tomorrow. Still doing my own private Winter Series, I have the 8k and 10k trail runs to go.9 -
So March begins with a rest day but I did have my second ever ballet class. Not quite as much fun as it was via Zoom but still hilarious and rather challenging - running fitness definitely helps for the jumps but turn out uses a bunch of butt muscles running doesn’t. Ouch.8

Welcome @happyness4me and @OneMooreMile!
Starting out the morning with my planned ST before work, and then I’ll run tonight when I get home.6 -
Great to see so many different goals in here. Started off the week with a 10 mile bike ride on my recovery day this morning. Took it slow to just get some blood into the legs from a bigger running weekend. Oh, and really impressed by those of you doing strength and runs at two different times of the day. I have to go back to back or it isn’t getting done @marisap20109

Hey everyone! I'm in for March for 70 miles! Got a little over 60 in February, so it's a decent goal.4

Thanks to everyone for the February birthday wishes!!!!!3

Tried a little bit of new route and made it more or less an out and back (with a scenic detour up a hill) because I saw that I would be running out of sidewalk on a busy road and didn't see a quick way around that section. But 12-ish km was perfect for today. Stuff was going wrong all morning, and the run was a good "reset" to my day.
@Tramboman does your username have anything to do with the trombone? I was thinking Happy Birthday on the trombone would be appropriate, but I don't have a trombone and couldn't play that song anyway. I'm not sure I even remember how to play a scale, from brass class all those years ago in college. Voice majors didn't get much in the way of instrumental training.8 -
@Teresa502 That hike sounds amazing. I've heard hiking is really hard there, but I'm sure worth it!
Welcome @OneMooreMile and @pfeiferlindsey !
@rheddmobile Glad your hip is feeling better and good luck on staying injury free!
@ContraryMaryMary It sounds like you are having fun with the ballet classes. I can't even imagine the different muscles that are used doing that vs running.
@polskagirl01 Glad you got your run in. Hope the day is going better than it started.3 -
3-1 7k slow
March Total: 7k
March Goal: 150k
Mostly cloudy, mid 30s F, with a wicked wind from the west that was especially bad coming across the golf course. Heard some robins; saw a fox squirrel for the first time in a long time, and I SAW EARTHWORMS!!!!! They had succumbed to the cold, but they were worms nonetheless.
@polskagirl01 That's a nice thought, but it's really a play on Rambo.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)6 -
My March goal is 137 miles, including completing the Yeti Challenge on the 27th and planning my transition to training for a faster 5k instead of distance for the hot, hot summer.10
-
I need to run. Instead of a mileage goal, I'm going to try to run 10 times this month.15
-
Great goals @noblsheep and @runs_on_espresso they sound very sensible!
@Tramboman of all the creatures to see, earthworms lol
@ContraryMaryMary ballet sounds hard enough without being via zoom!
Early start for me, 530am. It's getting so dark at that time of day now. It's officially autumn here, so daylight saving will come to an end in a month time. It's been an odd summer for us, just never really started. Very strange.
Today was a non-running day, so stationery bike and weights. I stopped half way through the weights cause I just wasn't into it and I didn't want to tempt an injury by going half heartedly.8 -

Turn out is always a challenge. If you rock back on your heels and turn put it helps you settle into your natural turn out and go a bit further. You can work on it but you may not be able to change it much.

I wasn't sure if I would bother setting a mileage goal for March, I've been struggling lately with just getting out the door so ANY run is a good thing at this point!
01/03... 5.08
02/03... 8.05
Total 13.13 / 150 km
I had grand plans to run 20km - it's my 40th birthday today (2nd March) and I liked that math, but I seemed to like sleep more today so only had time for 8km. Maybe I'll try and make up for it this weekend.
@katharmonic Thanks for setting us up
@hanlonsk Congratulations on the job, how exciting!
@happyness4me Welcome! I second the suggestion for Couch25k, it's a great plan to start running
@TheMrWobbly I hope the knee gets better soon
@OneMooreMile and @pfeiferlindsey Welcome5
