What DancingMoosie said!! Sydney Cummings will change your LIFE! I never want to go back to the gym.

I have done Sydney Cummings every day since last July. My physique has changed so much! I’m in better shape at nearly 48 than I’ve ever been. I love her! No need for a gym.

Never been to a gym. Rural living here. I walk and run outdoors. There are tons of workout videos on youtube for every fitness level and interest. I do have an elliptical/bike for when the weather is completely ridiculous. Good luck! Oh, I am 62, lost 70ish pounds and have kept them off for over 5 years.

yes all at home here. I've never even been in a gym. But - I'm very fortunate and have a lot of equipment in my house and space to do different things. I started with just a couple dumbbells and a step though!

I have done everything without any gym. Started in July walking 1 mile a day then gradually increased. Since about September I have done a longer walk in the morning and then about another mile and a quarter right before or after dinner. I am currently just finished up 165 miles total this week and now jog at least 1/2 of the now 4+ miles in the morning. Started at ~298lbs and was 202lbs yesterday morning. Just being consistent and tracking the food. Best of luck. You can accomplish anything as I have been obese for 20+ years before I decided it had to change (Doc finally told me I had type 2 diabetes in July - but it went away after 3 months and I now have the best A1C ever in my life)

She looks great. I'd have to ease into it since I'm 59 and need ti loise about 70 lbs.
I was doing HIIT, Zumba and Spin at the gym, treadmill and the machines on the days I didn't have classes. Now a year later I'm lucky if I get 3000 steps in.

Sydney shows modifications for almost everything. Try it!

I haven’t been to a gym in years. These resistance bands, the tower, an adjustable bench, and a bar for bench pressing, deadlifts etc.... this is my routine. I think many people under estimate the tension of bands when they are doubled and tripled etc...I have been steadily building muscle!
In between this program is 40 mins on my eliptical or bike.lxwxvgckbjgd.jpeg

Gyms are still closed here in the UK, which makes me sad :( I also really struggle with home workouts and I like the routine of the gym, being surrounded by other people who are working out helps me.

I have actually hired a personal trainer to work out with me outdoors until gyms reopen. She keeps me motivated. I have a session this morning actually! Outside of that, all I am doing is trying to eat healthily and doing lots of walking. My goal is just weight loss at the moment though so that it enough for me. I struggle with home YouTube/ Zoom workouts for some reason and just can't seem to get into it.

Same here! I think, for the first few weeks (after gyms close) I am able to regularly train at home but soon find that I get very bored with the lack of atmosphere at home and become very uninspired by the same 4 walls! Before I know it, the novelty has worn off. Plus, given the UK constantly going in-and-out lockdown [gyms opening and closing again] is just so draining; you get a slice of normality and get back into your routine then it just gets ripped from under you all over again.

I just try and mix it up at home now. Weight-training, yoga and 30-day challenges with friends (i.e. push ups/ abs, pull ups etc.)

I gave up the gym as being too expensive and too risky back in March 2020. Instead I found an excellent Husband and Wife duo on YouTube on a channel called BodyProject https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFjc9H89-RpWuIStDqhO7AQ
and I've been following them religiously. They have workouts for all levels including seniors, with seated and standing options and they have great low impact workouts with no jumping options. I've been losing weight and getting more fit all from the comfort of my home. I use simple 4 pound weights and I have an exercise mat for any floor work that might happen. I try to work out at least 3 times a week. Sometimes I can push to 4 times but it is rare. I try to work out at least 30 -45 minutes each time. Working out plus tracking my food intake on this site has definitely helped. I also do intermittent fasting. I highly recommend their channel and you can definitely do it all from home.

I've never been to a real gym; After/while losing 100lbs, I started a very basic calisthenics workout to keep my strength, and it sort of evolved to 3/week full body, all done with resistance bands, a floor mat, and a pullup-bar/dip-station. I'm honestly amazed at the progress I've been able to make in terms of muscle development and strength. And all of it for <150$ total.

u can reach ur weight goal without go to .. it is not hard but really it's need a lot of time .. you should focus on ur habits in improve 'em. You should get rid of the bad habits and gain healthy and good habits .. then all ur life will be good not just ur weight.
    My advices to do this:
1- Make a time tracker and write a diary every day.
2- After like two weeks see what is the bad habits in what is the good habits u did.
3- Then u can put a plan to improve ur healthy habits that u already do and git rid of bad ones.
4- after another week look foor good habits and gain a new healthy habits like doing a 10 minutes of Yuga every day or drinking more water.
    ================
Believe me after 1 year ur healthy will be much better and ur life will be easier
    ..
And there are many good habits such as:
1- sleep and wake up in the same time every day .. that's help u have a good sleeping.
2- eating some vegetables every day in time u determined.
3- doing some exercise in any time of your day and any duration.
4- this one it's not for body health but for mentality health .. read for 30 minutes every day.

All at home now and it's very doable. However, it really depends on your goals and your own motivation. Two points I find relevant:

    1. If your goal is to lose weight, the diet side is the most important by far. You can compensate for inactivity by eating less, but there's not enough time in the world for most of us to exercise off a bad diet. Get that equation right first - i find MyFitnessPal helps if you're meticulous.
    2.
    3. If you like the upbeat energy of the gym and need company, it's really hard to replace in your basement, alone. We bought a treadmill this year with a screen and an iFit subscription. Having a trainer and casting it on a big TV where someone coaches you from an exotic locale really does take much of the drudgery out of treadmill running. Where i live, only the most hearty brave the outdoor running in the wintertime - I'm not in that club so iFit works.

    Patience and persistence. Good luck!

I have my garage gym (barbells, weight plates, power rack, bench, dumbbells, strongwoman equipment, resistance bands), had to I am an athlete (we are still in lockdown 3 in the UK until April 12th ish)....need to keep strength and fitness up, but will socialise with pals at the gym when they open again. Not competing this year, working on aesthetics and strength, but back to it 2022....I also have two bicycles and walk, swim and run for cardio...

Plenty of calisthenic (bodyweight) programmes you can use online...if no equipment.

I haven't been to the gym in a year. Following partial knee replacement surgery in early January I was required to do PT. Seeing the progress with just basic exercises got me motivate and so I began adding core and upper body workouts to my leg workout, as well as cardio (walking or elliptical depending on weather). My "tools" are resistance bands, ankle weights, dumbbells, step and basic calisthenics (push-ups, crunches, etc.). I alternate upper and lower body workouts each day and spend no more than 30 minutes (not including cardio). Keeping it reasonable for my schedule is key and I save time not commuting to the gym. I'm 55 and looking forward to being strong again.

Well since COVID I've been doing at home since last March, with a small frame of time back at the gym and then shut down again. I have lost 40lbs since last March, but lost that 40lbs within a 6 min a half months time and been maintaining since then. Luckily for me I have my own cable machine to at least keep my resistance training somewhat active, but I've done a lot more walking than usual before COVID. Before I'd get in 13,000 steps a day and now average over 20,000 steps a day which has helped.
There are a lot of body weight exericses you can do via YOUTUBE for free and at your age, that's actually not a bad thing to do. One of the things I try to encourage with older clients is to try to get their weight down more because even if they've been active, age doesn't stop wear and tear on joints and cartilage and less weight puts less stress on them. You still want to stay active though.

Hey there. I'm another "at-home" exerciser. I use the following equipment: a 120lb heavy (punching) bag, adjustable dumbbells, and a utility bench. I generally switch up my routine pretty frequently. Right now I am doing most HIIT routines with fairly light weights.

I used to go to the gym until the pandemic hit. It was hard to get motivated to work out at home first, and I knew I'd be returning to full time work as a school nurse in September for the first time in about 10 years, so I figured my working out days were over. Four or five months in, I knew I had to figure something out because I felt like crap. It was hard to get motivated at first, but I would walk or run outside when I could, then use free Popsugar fitness videos on YouTube. Eventually, I got a $12.95 per month subscription to the Peloton app (so no live classes) and started with some of their weight workouts with some dumbells I bought at Target. We eventually bought a treadmill, which was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Now I alternate days of Popsugar HIIT and Tabata with Peloton workouts on the treadmill (it's not a Peloton treadmill, but I use the workouts). A year of this will have basically paid for itself in that it will end up being less money than I pay for the gym in a year. I've lost 25 pounds since August and gained lots of lean muscle. I never thought I'd be motivated enough to do it at home, but I really like it now, and because of time constraints with work and kids, I do not anticipate going back to the gym again.
