A good week for walks!4 -
Hi all! I haven't been checking in here for a while now, but anyone that has me added will know that I've still been checking in with MFP as I now have 93 day streak, well I WISH it was a real 93 day streak with priper calories in and out and some real weight loss, but sadly it's just me opening the app and mostly logging, sometimes giving up halfway with it. Anyway, I gained 0.6lbs today. (Since I've been away, I'm ALMOST back at my biggest weight and this is the FIRST time in years that I let myself get this big again. I can't believe it!) At least it wasn't a full pound like it has been lately! I am determined to get this weight off! But with my really bad depression and anxiety, it just makes me screw up over and over, again and again and I'm sick of it! I bought an Instant Pot and have wanted one for several years and finally got one and haven't even taken it out of the box yet! 🤦♀️ I've never meal prepped before and I've always wanted to so I got some containers to try it. With a house full of 6 people and 30 some pets, there isn't a whole lot of fridge or freezer space, but since I'm a beginner with it and wanting to try new recipes, etc. Figured I would start off small and see what I like, then I'm going to print out the recipes that I like and start a binder for everything. So, I have some goals and I know what I'm SUPPOSED to be doing, I just haven't put it into gear yet and I'm having a hard time doing so! I also joined WW and ofc struggling with the point system...because I will add to my diary here then there and be within my calorie goal here, but over my point goal there...ugh, lol. Also, TRYING to cut back on the sugar, I've always been a sweets kind of girl, but I would eat it here and there or I remember a few times where I went without anything sweet for a while, lately I've been addicted to them and will have sweets like 6 times a day and THAT has to stop and is probably where most of my weight gain has come from! 😢 I got this zero calorie sugar, Truvia I think is the name and I really like it so I want to try and make my own sweets and cut out the prepackaged sweets, just have to make them healthier, but let my mind and sweet tooth know that they're sweets and they'll satisfy me, I hope! My body has been going through some swelling and I'm thinking it could be from all the sugar lately, but not certain, (mainly bothers me in my fingers and face because they will feel so tight) going to my Dr. Next month, on the 21st, hoping the swelling and everything just stops before then though & hope I haven't given myself diabetes or something crazy like that! Love you all MFP family! Will never leave you guys! 💜🖤6

I just typed a big long post and it disappeared, ugh. Hi, and welcome new team members. I'm Tracy from new Hampshire. I'll be 49 (yikes) on Sunday. I have 2 boys 26 and 23 and 2 granddaughters 17 and 13 months. I have lost weight years ago and gained most of it back now I just gain and lose the same couple pounds. I am going to try start getting back up at 400 am tomorrow, we will see how that goes. My lunchbox is all packed. Hoping this time around goes well.
@CassieGetsFit2013 start small with meal prepping. I just do a day or 2 at a time. I find if I do too many days I become overwhelmed or dont want to eat that food towards the end of the week. If you like reese's peanut cups you can make protein balls, they are healthy and delicious.
@pizzafruit I am the same way.
@podperson1 my granddaughter is 17 months she loves to dance so she does burn some energy there along with her running, lol. I dont think I would be able to do a video with her, I do head down to the basement though when i have the energy to get it done. I just have to be more consistent.2 -
Hi All! Chelsea from Vermont here. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all as we go on this journey together. I work in public health and have a 2 year old special needs son who keeps me busy. I’m making my health a priority this year and am working out at the gym to try to manage my stress from work, however, I’m still struggling with emotional and stress eating. I’m working on it, though.

Hi all and welcome to the new members!
I’m April from the prairie province of Saskatchewan. I’m been with the weight no more group for a while now and there’s great support here. Im coming up on my one year MFP anniversary. I’m a 43 year old mom of three. My boys are getting older and I have freedom now to do my thing with exercising and having that time for myself.
After the birth of my third child I really struggled with my weight and over the years gained till I topped out around 220ish. It was hard on my body, especially since I’m only 5’1. I didn’t really get how big I was. Once covid hit I was home a lot! And eating a lot! So my weight was even higher and my clothes were starting to not fit and i was just uncomfortable. So I thought this is it. Time for a change. I started walking and changing my eating.
I’ve done some intermittent fasting, although I’m not being very strict with it right now. I lost 70 ish pounds since my start. I’ve gained a bit back over February and March. But now back at it and pounds are slowly going. My struggle was Valentine’s Day chocolates from my hubs, take out, over snacking in general. I love sweets, cookies and cakes.
I’ve been doing exercise classes, zoom Zumba, walking/jogging and some weight lifting. I need to increase my weight lifting. I just went back to c25K. I started at week 6 but I might move up a few weeks as I wasn’t really pushing it.
Spring is in the air here. Some snow is on the way tomorrow, hopefully won’t stick around for long.
Cheers pals.

Aloha. I am not sure how to @ people yet to respond but I am reading your posts.
My weight loss is going very fast right now but I think that’s because I started monitoring my portions and cutting back on sweets at the same time. I walk a few times a week and hope to get into weighty lifting soon.5 -
~~ Welcome to April ~~
Hello everybody! Welcome to the first week of the F2F Challenge for April (even if it isn't quite April yet). For those of you I haven't formally met yet, I'm Ashley. Hi. I'm one of the team captains here, along with the lovely Melanie ( @melaniedscott ). Together, we are your liaisons to the moderators and the spreadsheet and all that fun stuff.
My weight loss journey has been in motion since September 2014, when I was nearing 240 lbs and my self esteem was hitting rock bottom. And yet, I didn't take it seriously until May 2017, when I saw a doctor for the first time since before college, and she told me that, based on my family history, I needed to get my act together or there would be serious consequences. In a year, I dropped 40 lbs. And after that, I dropped about 30 more, only to yo-yo around the 160s for longer than my brain would like.
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December 2019, explaining my body's reaction to hot and humid environments, regular dehydration, nerve issues, etc. Perfect timing to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder - right before Covid hit. Ah yes.
If you want to learn more about me, I have a blog. You can find it here.
I'm also an open book, so if there are any questions, even extremely personal ones, feel free to ask. I'll gladly share how my sweat smelled like soy sauce for a week and a half after I went a little too hard on an order of sushi that claims to be meant for four people (when my takeout comes with more than two sets of chopsticks, that's when you knows it's enough food for me).
On the fitness/health side, I am a chemical engineer. I do research for a living. I know the science behind weight loss and the current state of nutritional science, and would be happy to explain concepts if something is confusing. I never struggle with how to do something, I just struggle with actually doing it.
I am starting April at 170.6 lbs, with a goal to lose at least three pounds this month if possible, although maintaining would not be the worst thing in the world for me. Since the addition of more resistance training into my regimen, more of my focus has been on muscle growth and recovery, so a little recomposition wouldn't be a surprise.
Um. Yeah. I think that's how these intros go.
Let's look at some impressive folks...~ Walking Warriors ~
Our team of seven steppers trekked 501,459 steps this past week! On average, that's 71,637 steps per person (which is over 10,000 steps per person per day!).
The top stepper this week is...@debbiewsharpe !!!
Debbie walked a whopping 103,490 steps this week, averaging 14,784 steps per day! Regularly outwalking the competition, Debbie is clearly a force of nature. Keep it up, and grant us mercy as you go!
The most consistent steppers this week were...@BlueSkyNomad and @annliz23 !!
Both Ann (92,623 steps last week) AND Aggie (50,345 steps last week) deviated from their average steps, 13,232/day and 7,192 respectively, less than 1,500 on average, and that's incredible consistency. Sticking to it, every single day, is an impressive feat. Way to go, ladies!
Our other potent pedestrians this past week...

@Just_Kisha
If you're talking about how we link to people's names, you just type "@" and then their username. (e.g. Tagging me is @minstrelofsarcasm)
If you're talking about quoting entire posts and responding that way, click on "Quote" at the bottom of their posts. That will copy their post into the text box at the bottom of the page, inside of code blocks. You can write your response either before the first code block, or after the last code block. If you write anywhere inside of the code blocks, it will appear in the quoted text, just like the smiley face I added above.

Good morning!
@minstrelofsarcasm Thanks for your post - wow - what a long journey you have been on. I've never read that about soy sauce....but it sounds like quite an experience! I appreciate your open-heartedness and honesty in your post - and I think you are setting the stage for a wonderful month.
@Just_kisha Congratulations on your weight loss. You are inspiring me to exercise. OK - I will do it! Keep up the great work.
This is my first time doing a challenge on MFP. As I mentioned earlier, I am 60 years young. My husband and I have four daughters, all adopted, now young adults. The last 15 years of parenting have been challenging, as two of them had adoption-related emotional issues. However, I am so happy to report that three of our daughters are truly amazing young women. The fourth daughter still requires a good deal of emotional, financial and medical support from us - and it's been hard on us - especially on me as a mom. (The technical dx is RAD, which is something that is not really well known outside of adoption circles. Subset of PTSD). Anyway I'm taking this opportunity to heal my overweight body through healthy food and exercise (and I really mean it this time). I'm also in very good therapy to help with my own PTSD, and it's working. I'm upping my prayer life as well, which is always helpful in so many ways.
So, life is looking up. Vaccines are in our present and future. (I am an elementary teacher, so luckily I've being vaccinated). Spring is on its way. And hopefully, my pants will fit a wee bit better by the end of this month - what size do you ask? Well, I have them in ALL sizes. Right now I'm size 16 - dreaming of fitting into 12's again.
I send warm regards to our entire team.
Denise

Hi all,
Shiny new thread
So, I'm Shelli, I live in Edinburgh, Scotland with my best friend/flatmate and my kitties. I've struggled with my weight most of my life, have yo-yo-ed up and down and tried pretty much every fad diet out there. I'm the poster child for unhealthy living - have a junk food addiction and hate exercise lol! I hit my highest weight of around 210lbs at the end of 2019 and joined MFP in Feb 2020. I got down to the mid-170s last summer but have crept back up again and now in the 180s so really wanting to start going back in the right direction.
I've been pretty good this week. Calories have been mostly on track, exercise could def be better. Went for a decent walk yesterday but the weather here has been tempermental so some days I've just stayed in. I do zoom zumba a couple of times a week and my instructor has just started doing outdoor lessons in line with new lockdown easings, so am going to try and go along to one - they had the first ones on Sunday and apparently it was fun but they were nearly blown away with the winds
Hope everyone has a good start to the week x3 -

@pizzafruit--I read your post and can relate. Have you ever read The Beck Diet Solution? I just started it, so I can't speak to it's long-term effectiveness, but it's not a diet--it's about using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to change how you think about eating (and yourself). I'm only two weeks in (the book outlines a 6 week program), but it has really resonated with me. Maybe others in the group have experience with it. So far, for me, it's been a really different approach. As someone who has been on an off diets for over 35 years, I'm cautiously optimistic. I got the book used on Amazon.1

Week 1 - April

I had a great week this past week. For whatever reason, I was on it for food and exercise. I'm doing the Beachbody MBFA workouts and am loving them. I'm also working on getting back to regular running. I have signed up for my first half marathon this October (it was originally scheduled for April 2020, but got pushed back twice) and need to be way more mindful about getting in the mileage. Also this week, the food just seemed easy for some reason. I think I've got my protein consumption up enough that I'm "full" and don't go looking for snacks all the time! I was hoping for a bigger loss, but I'm going to just keep plugging away at it! Happy Monday team!5 -
@minstrelofsarcasm Thank you for the tutorial and for sharing your story.
@vvlucky Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you all the best on your journey.2 -
I managed to get up at 4am and did 2 ifit walking videos. My husband said he was a little worried and didnt think I was gunna do it, also said he thinks I got up out of spite. I told him if I dont do it in the morning it just doesn't seem to get done. My lunchbox is all packed for tomorrow, it helps that I had to pack my granddaughters lunch. I am going over a little in calories but it goes into my exercise calories that I dont log. I do have to get a little better about that. I have logged my food the last 2 days so big plus there. I am having a little rest before my granddaughter gets here. I haven't seen her for a few days, I miss her running around, she wasnt at school today so I didn't get to go bug her classroom. I'm sure her teacher was happy, lol.4
