I finally received my scales from Amazon. What a process I went through to get them! I was going to wait and post my weigh-in on Monday, but I decided I would rather do Friday weigh-ins. (I actually received the scales on Saturday, but I am just for this one time going to backdate it to Friday, the day before.)
Age: 58
Height: 5'7"
SW 2/10/2021 - 325.0
CW 3/25/2021 - 277.6 (-47.4 lbs)
GW 2/10/2022 - 199.0
I was so happy when I hopped on the scales and realized I have lost 47.4 lbs. I have been really focused on getting fit and eating healthy so that I can regain control of my health and life. I knew I would initially lose a big chunk of weight relatively quickly since I am so heavy. Now my focus is on an 8-10 lb loss per month.5 -
So my weighing day is Thursdays because I was doing it everyday and decided to change to once a week but might go back to daily after next Thursday!
Had a day off plan yesterday, was very nice. Me and the hubby did homemade sausage rolls which turned out so good. Hope everyone's had a good week!4 -

I'm stuck! I've lost almost 7lbs and then gained back 3lbs in two days. I lost those 3 and gained back 2 over night. I haven't changed anything, I'm not over eating or under eating. I'm at a loss!5

@Kaken21 Honey, it's water. It's okay. You're not trying to lose water, you're trying to lose fat. Any fluctuation like that from one day to the next is 100% absolutely just water. Pay attention to the general trend over longer time scales, like weeks or months, especially if you have a menstrual cycle - those ****ing hormones play hell with water retention sometimes.
On another note, don't you hate it when you find out the hard way what your limits are? Hubs had a long morning engagement today, so rather than mill around the house (and kitchen) for four hours, I decided to drive down to one of the bigger parks in the county, with nicer walking trails. I put in a good 4 miles or so...which was way more than I should have done. I made it back to my car fine, but by the time I got home, my left foot was in just incredible pain. I managed to hobble into my house (I live on the second floor, it was a production), looked up some quick home remedies for plantar fasciitis, and implemented as many as I could - RICE, rolled it on the nearest firm cylindrical object I could crawl over to (literally), took an ibuprofen once I was able to hobble to the bathroom, and just chilled for about half an hour. It worked, I'm fine, but damn. I might see where I can scare up a tennis ball or golf ball or something to keep in my car if this happens again. On top of all of that, my hip adductors (inner-thigh muscles, they pull your legs together) are sore AF because I just unlocked the scissor kick on Ring Fit, and it's the most powerful attack I have so of course I used it a bunch of times while I was playing yesterday. Abductors are fine though (the ones that pull your legs apart), I don't know what that says about me, LMAO.6 -
@goal06082021 Goodness! It certainly sounds like you had a time of it! Back in the day I also suffered from plantar fasciitis so I know firsthand how painful it can be. Luckily, it "heeled" and I haven't had an issue with it for years - I wish you success with it and that it heals in the near future.
I've always been fascinated with the Ring Fit... it seems like a fun way to get a good workout in, though I'm not sure my worn out old body could do it at this point what with my bad hips, knees and lower back but I was thinking it would be great for my 10-year old grandson who has gained some weight during this horrible pandemic!1 -
@AlexandraFindsHerself Hope you are feeling better after the vaccine.
@misplacedmama Nice NSV
@tsokalas2 usually MFP sets calories pretty low 1200 is low for regular height but for those who are shorter it may not be too low.
@alymc2 Nice pictures of your grandchildren. So far there has been a new thread each month thanks to RavenStCloud
@ladychr0nic that is why we log to learn from our mistakes.
@roz0810 welcome back
@BethCW2963 glad you are getting the tools you need. I am not a picky eater but when you limit what you eat you do get pickier. I am really picky about sweets since that is really limited so there are a lot of sweets I don’t eat anymore. It has to be worth the calories.
@holdthefries you are making progress.
@goal06082021 I am usually not one for the banana-oat things but I like the idea of your pancake somehow. I think I will try it. I guess I need to get some bananas. You made your March goal!
@MuttiNM Sorry to hear you Dad isn’t getting much better. I am glad to hear you Mom is improving some. Sorry you have to do their taxes! I hope you get some good news from the Drs. It seems like you are doing well staying steady during this challenging time. Take care. I can get off the ground but I don’t like anyone to see me do it. My son has just read a book on sleep, Why We Sleep. Not only about why it is so important but how we have misconceptions about it in our society. He says the science is really sound. He has issues with sleep. I found this trainer on Youtube who was an athlete who injured herself. She said that many do not develop needed core strength before they start exercise and end up with injuries. I really miss aquafit. It really strengthens the core. I am sure your Yoga helps with that too. I am glad you are getting the vaccine now especially with helping your parents. There are some great benefits to maintaining your weight especially after a significant period of eating at a deficit. You know how to lose when the right time comes. This is all about health.
I got through a lot but not all of the weeks posts. Usually I get on here on Saturday but had to work on bills and taxes instead. It was satisfying since recent changes have meant tax savings. We also went for a small walk in the woods as well. It was a cloudy day but with no rain. I did my meal planning this week going through the weekend and through next week and we got all the groceries we needed except for the bananas I now want for the oatmeal pancake recipe. Looking at the last week calories my weight seems to go down after higher calorie days. So I haven't found that sweet spot yet to lose.
I got exercise in the middle of the week but had some medical tests etc. and took it easy on Thursday and Friday. Today it is raining. However sun is coming out next week so I will plan on some walks Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I will do some strength training later in the week. I really like to get out when we have nice days here.5 -

I had totally made peace with not meeting my goal this month, but I guess my body had other ideas?? I've never, ever, EVER had a big loss like that in one week. I know a good chunk of it was water weight. Friday and Saturday, it was as if the flood gates opened. I was in the bathroom. All. The. Time. But still. I'll take it!
Last week, I focused on logging everything and actually measuring all the things, rather than eyeballing my portions. I wanted to see if my target of 2000 calories a day and a macronutrient ratio of 40/30/30 was correct for my activity level, and it apparently is! I'm going to keep at it. (However, if I drop more than 2 lbs next week, I might increase calories. I'm not in a race to lose weight, and I want to keep as much lean body mass as possible.)
I hope everyone has a great Monday (whenever that comes for you)! I may not post a lot, but I read everything. And you ladies have been a huge inspiration for me!!10 -
@misplacedmama
Great job! Nice to see that woosh!1 -

I'm pretty happy with this month! I definitely went over a lot and didn't make good choices several times but I tracked every single day this month. I have gotten so many awards on the my apple watch for surpassing move goals and exercise goals. I feel so much better, my mental health is so much better, my skin is better. I'm feeling great! This group is so supportive! We gotta make a new thread for April!6 -

The gain is pretty mystifying, as I had a calorie deficit this week of over 7k. At least I know it can't be fat gain, so maybe hormones? I had a partial hysterectomy 1.5 years ago (everything but the ovaries), and my cycle when I'm not on hormonal contraception has always been a "roll the dice, see how many months you'll go without" game. So, maybe it's hormones. Or just my body doing its weird thing.
I have one more week in this 12 week deficit cycle, before I try and maintain in a 2 week diet break (which neatly covers my birthday, hurray) so everything to play for.7 -
@Arralethe Congrats on your 4 lb loss for this month. I don't know about you but my weight loss often happens at unexpected times rather than those times when I feel like it should register the most and, like you, I know it isn't usually fat gain so I chalk it up to water weight and the mysterious workings of the human body.
I am really interested in hearing more about giving yourself a 2-week maintenance plan after dieting for these past 12 weeks so keep us posted. It's great that your birthday will be falling within this 2 week period. Happy upcoming birthday! 🎉🎂😊2 -
@BethCW2963 Thank you! I've one more week in deficit, and am hoping to get down to 229.6. That would mean a loss of 21lbs in 3 months, which would be perfect.
In the past I've just stayed in deficit with no breaks at all, and sooner or later circumstances or life intervenes and I stop bothering altogether, so this time I've decided that I'll only deficit for 12 weeks at a time. I'll keep logging while I'm on break, and will keep posting once April's thread is up. But psychologically, I can feel the difference in approach working for me. Rather than "Omigod, I'm going to be at this forever", I can simply say to myself "just a couple more weeks, then you can take a small break". Logging during that break will mean I can still aim for healthy choices - some days I'm already thinking to myself "How on earth am I going to eat another 750 calories?"8 -
Happy Monday and new week everyone!4
-
So weigh in day is Thursday for me currently as I stopped weighing in daily but if I don't see a difference on Thursday then I might as well go back to daily weighing because at least then I see a downwards trend. We shall see!2

@Laughter_Girl believe me getting excited about working out is not always easy. Some weeks I drag through them and other weeks it's what I look forward to in the day. But finding the workout you enjoy doing and gives you energy is everything! It took me 3 weeks to get used to the routine of working out regularly because I was ALWAYS the girl who hated the gym and working out. Even the weeks I drag through as soon as I get about 10 mins into the workout my energy and mood flips and I'm determined to finish the workout!5

I wasn't thinking too well when I chose last night's dinner. I hadn't considered it might be high in sodium. Should have kept with the omelet instead lol. I like daily weighing as going by 1 day a week may not show all the loss I do have; especially Monday's. That's my snail pace #; it takes so long to really show the losses there.
I'm not looking forward to tonight. My husband and his friend wanted to have all of us and the friend's gf go out to dinner so I could meet the gf. They chose the chinese buffet I don't care for. My plan was to stock up on the vegetable choices with only 1 meat option to at least mitigate the calories. Socializing around food has definitely been a reason I've gained weight. I've been able to work around my mom's choices, especially when she hasn't known the chinese buffets were back open. My husband and I haven't gone out much either but it was a matter of time. I've been dreading it to come. He hasn't wanted to go to half priced appetizers yet and have been dreading that day too. Do what I can; back to the gym tomorrow as I won't be able to tonight.4 -
@sarah12277 - buffets are difficult for me too. The worst part is that most of them aren't even very good! And yet, we feel like we have to "get our money's worth" and we end up overeating. First thing to do is get over the mindset about getting your money's worth. Think of the cost as the price of admission to the social event - dining with your friends. You aren't there for the food. When cho0sing what to eat, shrimp, scallops and fish are good options - high protein, low calorie (so long as it isn't breaded). Get plain rice instead of noodles or fried rice. Consider eating something high in protein before you go - if you arrive too hungry, it will be harder to make good choices. And just realize that the scale will likely go up tomorrow - but it will be due to the sodium from dinner the night before. Good luck!7
