@bookmeister86 - so nice to see you back posting. This year has been so hard for so many.. so many challenges, and disruptions to our lives. I know for me, and so many others, its been a struggle. But it is nice to see your post and hear how you are doing.

@Wellingtx - you are doing such a great job. What a inspiration you are.

@littleblackshirt -- I know I am trying hard to not let the scale dictate how I feel, but it is hard. Staying in maintenance is a good thing sometimes in these trying times. I am the same way .. my weight is holding at 15 pounds higher than I want it to be. I know someone once told me that our bodies have to adjust.. and then will start losing again. I guess the plus side is just to be holding, and not gaining.

@PackerFanInGB Welcome back! Someday when masks and social distancing aren't things, we have to meet. We can be friends in person, besides MFP & JFT. Even though I've lived in GB for 40 years, I've learned not being "from" here, that changes the family and friendship dynamics. Most of my friends are work related too.

YES! Wouldn't that be nice? I just realized I didn't reply to our pm! I'm so sorry! I am terrible about telling myself I'll do something right after I "finish up here"...my brain is easily distracted. It really does change things when you don't go through school with people and have that "history". I've moved so much my whole life that I never really had a home town, so I should be used to it. I think it bothers me more now that I don't even have the social life that work gave me. It didn't bother me then.

Well, I disappeared again! Dang! I don't know why when I was working I found time to hop on and read posts, comment and post my own goals every day and now that I'm not working I don't seem to find the time! I need it now more than ever, but I just rarely find "computer time" anymore. I have decided that this is the start of my New Year, versus traditional January 1. It's one year since I got sent home from work due to Covid. One year of sitting and worrying, stressing about my job, money, health, my kids, getting my mom relocated, etc. One year of eating my feelings. Done. Time to stand up, brush off my knees, straighten my shoulders and move forward.

Tracie ... I SO wish we lived closer together. I feel we are so much alike, in so many ways... and I think we would be great friends ;) We already are online friends!

I SO understand the time it takes to get used to not being around work friends. I worked many years for a publishing company. When another company bought the company I worked for, and announced cuts .. mine was one of the jobs where they eliminated the entire department. All the friends that I had all took other jobs, and it was so depressing. I know I cried for days .. at that time I was not even 60, and knew I had to find work. I was fortunate to find another job within this new "company", and while I knew people there, they were not my good friends. So you are not alone in feeling lost, feeling like your friends are gone. But they don't have to be gone. I am still friends with many of the former people I work with. One lady I have known since 1988 .. we meet once a month (well, until covid). So I hope some of those friends you can still stay in touch. Many of the friends I made though were just "work " friends .. and that I did miss, which I'm sure is also very hard for you.

It does take me awhile to adjust, and I know you will adjust to. I think summer and spring weather will also help you... things to do outside, SUNSHINE, longer days. Do you have neighbors to dog walk together? That is where I have my social time now. Covid does not help though .. and you had both at the same time.

But we all miss you... and we are so happy to see you back! We are all your friends... online friends .. but gosh, it has been 5 years since I "met" you!

So please keep posting. This thread is so much more than just a weight loss thread ... Hugs dear friend <3<3

Five whole years! We have been through many things in that time together, even though we aren't actually together in person. I agree. This thread has been a lifeline to me not only for weight loss, but for mental health and friendships. I'll never be able to thank you enough for starting it back then!

I think you are right about summer and spring helping. It's just been a lot of big changes, life-changing changes, all at one time under the blanket of Covid restrictions. I don't even spend time with my family right now so that's huge. I am still in touch on FB with work friends, but I think because so many of them are younger and at a different stage in their lives with starting families, raising kids, etc, we grew different ways. I was done raising kids when they were starting their families. When they were going out on weekends to have a good time, I was home having movie night with popcorn and ice cream with my grandkids. But I plan to reach out to the friends who I truly miss as soon as Covid lifts and set up a happy hour or meet up and try to stay in touch. Your once-a-month time sounds like a great idea and I'm going to keep that in the back of my head. :)

If I want to be more social, I need to be willing to step out of my comfort zone and reach out. (my comfort zone being my living room....)

xoxo HUGS Joan. I wish we lived closer too!

    6) Unplug 9:00 / floss / retainers / Voltaren / 5:40 alarm (walk dog before work)

Dear Lord, give me patience! This morning our dept. manager sent an email with ANOTHER form to complete & submit weekly b/c she's too incompetent to figure out the info from one other sheet we already submit. You'd never know we are a staff of salaried professionals. ACK!!!!

    2021 Goals:
    1) Weight 150#
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I peek occasionally other days. My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    4) Take measurements & log on MFP every month end ~ remember this year! ~ 1.31.21 ~ 2.28.21
    5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
    6) Participate in race or challenge events even if virtual ~ started MapMyWalk You Vs. 7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together ~ excellent goal last year that should be repeated
    8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states) ~ had this goal in 2020 and how ironic
    9) Declutter bedroom, home office and basement ~ made good progress in 2020 & want to keep it up
Word for 2021: Gratitude ~ be mindful of & appreciate my many blessings

Weekly Weigh-In = When I'm active I eat back calories. My weaknesses: I love food... my sweet tooth, especially chocolate... portion control... FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I peek occasionally other days. My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale. No goal dates set ~ this is not a diet but my lifestyle.

The weather is supposed to get nicer next week, I hope it does and I can get out for a walk in the evenings. I was told to take it easy and not push, so it will take time to get built back up to my 5K I imagine. Pools still aren't open, but I think when they do open I'll sign up for a refresher swim lesson. I haven't been in the water since my last lessons in June 2019. I'm a bit nervous to try again now. I'm sure it's like "riding a bike" it comes back to you, but I know it takes strength that I don't have.

I know you can do this! I remember when you started these lessons and how you got a little further and better with each one! You will build that strength back up in no time, I have no doubt!

Howdy y'all. Been crazy busy with life and food has been off point, but life is good. My knee was mucked up earlier in the week, but rest has helped a lot. Found out yesterday that Sierra got the Presidential Scholarship from RMU which is 4 years full tuition. Her athletic scholarship will cover room and board so that's a full ride to the university for all 4 years!!! I'm one proud momma.

Oh my gosh! This is WONDERFUL! Congratulations to Sierra and to you, mama!! How exciting! 🎈👩‍🎓💖

I need to get a lot accomplished today and want to leave on time because we are having the Grands for a sleepover tonight. It hasn't been since August that they have spent the night and we've really only seen them from more than 10 or 15 minutes once since November. It is still against the rules here, but they are both home, so is Rodger and I am vaccinated. There is no reason why we can't do this.

    Have a great day everyone.

Awesome! I'm so glad you got to have the grands over! I know how much you have missed them, especially because you had them so often pre-Covid. I hope you had a wonderful time!

Hi all, just checking in briefly while I have a bit of time on a lazy Sunday morning!
I'd say I've been busy and that is definitely true within working hours which have been quite packed and pressurised, however I've also had plenty of evenings and weekends where I have had lots of time in which I could have posted. So why haven't I?

I guess I just haven't felt like it. In weekday evenings, I tend to be quite drained from the working day - not just the workload but also by the ongoing emotional strain involved in working remotely and feeling quite isolated. It's just not the same communicating with colleagues remotely as face-to-face and it's quite exhausting, I find. Then in the weekends, I am more relaxed but often fall into a bit of a void of lethargy and depression at the vast amount of time stretching ahead of me with little of any meaning or enjoyment to fill it with (I'm probably catastrophising there but it's how it feels). I don't tend to feel like communicating when I'm in either of those moods.

Despite the above, I am doing ok though! From tomorrow, we're going to be allowed to travel beyond our local area and to meet up with other households again and I have plans to meet up with friends for the next three weekends! I think I will feel much better when I'm able to meet up with people in person, I am inherently a social being (as we all are) so I have no doubt it will increase my mood when see humans!!! And hopefully not too long before I can go back into the office on some days again - I'm hoping I can stay working from home part of the time as I do love having the extra time/ sleep/ money (my train ticket is extortionate) but I'm also just really craving some f2f interaction with colleagues.

Weight-wise, I'm currently at 12 stone 6 (174 lbs) which is 15 pounds above my goal weight but which is a few pounds down from what I weighed in January. I'm not finding weight loss particularly easy as (a) in these not particularly nice times food is one of the main comforts that exist (b) it's not particularly motivating losing weight that I've already lost multiple times. However, I have a little bit of a plan which is that there is a half marathon in my town in September and if I lose just 2 lb a month between now and then I will be only just above my goal weight for the half marathon - and I'll be about the same weight as I was when I did my half marathon a couple of years ago where I was at a very nice comfortable running weight. Assuming I go back to the office in June (which seems most likely), I'll also be c. 5lb lighter when I start interacting with humans again so I can wear the nice office clothes that I bought a while ago and have literally never worn!

I'm glad to see that everyone is healthy and well, or as well as possible given these difficult times we are all in. Also glad to see that many people have had their first and even second jabs! I had my first jab two weeks ago, although I'm only 34 I have asthma so was bumped up the list. I'm very grateful for that, feel very lucky, and it makes me feel much more comfortable about taking up the opportunities that will be opening up soon (like going to the pub, which will be possible in 2 weeks! :-) )

Will try to keep checking in, hopefully a bit more regularly - I'm going to be honest and say I probably won't be posting goals every day but I will try to check in more often than I have been doing! I might do what Bex and others have done in the past and not worry about posting goals but just participate in the general chat/ reply to others.

    Love to all x

Oh my gosh! I was so excited to see this! I was actually thinking about sending you a pm just to say hi and ask how you've been doing! Happy to see you will be able to see your friends soon and that an end is in sight for you. I totally understand the depression and antisocial feeling. I think that is why I've been struggling to hop on daily too.

    TAKE CARE of you! (((HUGS)))

Decided to "take it easy" with a strength training exercise tonight. Whoops now my already weak legs are jello! I really cannot do a full squat or lunge-anyone else?. I had to modify about half of the exercises, which is fine. This is how one builds up strength. Just was an eye opener that even though I've been doing great with cardio and building stamina, I may be missing a few muscle groups lol! I decided on a goal for rest days-setting up my apartment. I moved in August, and I love my place! I initially put a lot of work into setting it up, and it looks great! But there are a few more touches I want to finish, and a long list of small to fix/to do items. So this will be my goal on non-exercise days!

    JFT Monday:
    80 oz water ✅
    stay in the green ✅
meet all serving recommendations for 5 food groups ✅
    30 minutes exercise ✅
    screens off 8:30 ❌
track food, exercise, water and post on JFT ✅

    JFT Tuesday:
    80 oz water
    stay in the green
meet all serving recommendations for 5 food groups
rest day-walk or apartment set up project
    screens off 8:30
track food, exercise, water and post on JFT
Think of goals to swap out for exercise rest days

@bookmeister86 nice to see you on!

Haha I think I can do full squats and lunges. I'm not too sure on my form on the squats though so I could be doing it wrong.
The lunges I can do but I wobble all over the place lol.
So I can do them but my balance is waaaaay off lol

I had the eye opener the other day when I could no longer do a sit up.
I was literally lying on my mat, straining to sit up and just thinking "wtf, wt-ACTUAL-f!"
    Just couldn't do it 😂 😂

Had my second shot saturday ... and yesterday, and last nite, I felt awful. Terrible headache, ache all over, chills. I guess that tells me the shot is working. Funny.. I had zero reactions to the first. Hubby had reactions to the first shot, but feels nothing for the second!
That will normal and will pass.

My goals today will be simple again... another busy day. Hoping soon we can retire, but this week is just one of those weeks. I did get out friday and plant some canna bulbs.. just hope I'm not too early, but it was almost 80 on friday.

I've been listening to podcasts. I do well with food, only to sabatoge it and cave. The scale goes up, and it seems all I am doing is going in circles. Up 2, down 2, up, down. very frustrating... but not giving up.
Hang in there, Joan. You’ve just described maintenance 😂 just not where you want it yet, but you will get there.
    Goals, JFT, Mon

    1) Move hourly / stairs breaks  13/14 & 8.1k
    2) Walk dog or x-train after work (v gusty winds today but sun finally came out) had to force myself to work out in basement but glad I did ~ starting to notice improvement in strength, even balance
    3) Leftovers for supper / net cals zero / 12c water  green 200 & 12c
    4) Complete & submit GA-IT FY20 f/u / update Project Status Review tab / Facebook Live 12:00 / emails! :p hahahaha / GA-IT FY21 prep = 4/5
    5) Prep lunch, snacks, water bottle & overnight oats / bake Easter cookies for co-workers / declutter 15 min. / 1 other chore = 3/4
    6) Unplug 9:00 / floss / retainers / Voltaren / 5:40 alarm (walk dog before work) = 5/5

    JFT 3/30 T
    1) Walked dog 3.48 mi before work & heard turkeys & cranes  happy me & happy dog
    2) Move hourly / stairs breaks
    3) Leftovers for supper / net cals zero / 12c water
    4) Pick up Breadsmith order / buy dog food (sale)
    5) Prep lunch, snacks, water bottle & overnight oats / refill bird feeders & bath / declutter 15 min. / at least 1 other chore
    6) Meditation / unplug 9:00 / floss / retainers / Voltaren / 5:40 alarm (walk dog before work)

Logged my recent workouts in the 30/45 virtual challenge (30 min. activity in 30 out of 45 days) and happy to be 111 out of 307 participants. Kind of fun to watch the leader board changes, knowing others are doing combos of running/walking, strength & reflective training too.

Year 1021K on Jan. 1 / virtual 50 Mile Frenzy 11.27.20 - 1.15.21 (replaced Frenzy on the Fox for Jan. 2021) 50.37 miles 12.17.20 and completed 97.44 miles total / Tour de Northeast WI virtual challenge: cover distance from Oshkosh to Gills Rock (139 miles) 1.1.21 - 3.31.21 ~ completed distance on 3.21.21 / 30/45 Build to Bellin virtual challenge 30 min. activity for total of 1,350 min. in 45 days 3.1.21 - 4.15.21

This is a fun thread. A Daily Commitment...NICE! I just got back on MFP after several hiatus. Joined in Dec 2011, 2016, and "dedicated to be dedicated" now in 2021...and it is already going to be April.

I was diagnosed Ostoporosis and recently began taking the generic med for Fosomax. I was sooo afraid of the side effects, I stayed off of it until now, but my oldest Pal here on MFP is taking it, and that gave me courage. I am not getting younger, so many things I did not want to do (like taking meds) I am doing. I do take good supplements. I recently began taking all of my meds and supplements on a consistent basis, too! I want to age gracefully, and learning to be consistent with my health, and strength to build my bones up is important! Nice to read everyone's thoughts here.

My word for today is: Hope! I am also Grateful for MFP. I started my journey with Health and Fitness since I was young, and thankfully. I do not know where I would be today with all my bad habits. I will be back tomorrow.
    Thank you.
