Bank Holiday here. Predicted to be wet, though it's dry at the moment. I woke up at 4.30, but it was a better night than the one before.
I'm struggling with the return to 'normal' life. The lockdown was perfect for me. No feelings that I 'should' be doing things, going out, seeing people. The only thing we've done is sat down in a café in the park for a cup of tea.
It's probably because I haven't done any writing for a week, but I've definitely got my FOMO back. Although we usually hide during BHs anyway. The weather will help.
I'm just annoyed with myself for not being more proactive and putting things off.

Debbie - That was a truly inspiring video about your parents' backyard farm! I'd love to achieve something similar at our island place, though I doubt it would be possible so far north. I can also see why it would be painful for you to watch it right now. (((Hugs)))
Husband drove out to check the condition of the road yesterday. He came back an hour later and reported that it was about half ice, half mud. Before dinner he changed two of the studded tires to summer tires. On our fortnightly family Zoom call, my youngest sister said that sounded about right: if the road is half summer half winter, you should change half of the tires. He will be changing the other two this morning before we head back to town.
In order to fly to Svalbard, one must have a negative Covid-19 test less than 24 hours old. We'll get those this evening. These are the rapid tests that use nasopharyngeal swabs - the kind where they stick a little bottlebrush up through your nostril and down into the back of your throat, twist it around a few times and count to ten v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y before pulling it out again. Invasive? You bet! I don't find the testing too terrible, but my husband's nasal anatomy is apparently completely different. He always tears up and has to sneeze repeatedly after what calls a nasopharyngeal gouge.
The sun is shining from a clear blue sky and there's no wind. Maybe I'll head out for a jog. Here's the road I jog on, seen from the mountain west of us. Obviously this picture was taken at another time of year.

Typical Bank Holiday weather here, rain forecast all day. Going to sons house later, meet up with DGD whom we haven’t seen for over a year. Should be in garden but will be in the conservatory with doors open, they open up along one side. We’ve all had our jabs except DGD and I’m really at the stage where I’m past caring.
Thanks BARBIE for new thread.
ALLIE good for you stick to your guns
DEBBIE loved the video

3: Focus on what you CAN do, rather than on what you can’t. Boy I needed this reminder!
Scale surprise, down to 139.1 lowest in a loooong time. Won’t update ticker ‘til end of month but an encouraging start.
Heather the pic of Max and Edie, but how did they get up there? Good point to Allie, let the lawyers do the talking.
Lisa What you said to Allie was spot on. Doing my happy dance to hear you feeling so much better and getting out to the farmers’ market, community center, and back to grant research. Bravissima!
Ginny “… I don’t bully people in stores who aren't wearing masks-I just go to a different aisle” yes!
Allie “He did the cheating, he can do the paying.” Atta gal! Couragia! Sending good thoughts for tomorrow’s blood work.
Kylia if you ever want to get rid of that wii, I’d be willing to buy it for a spare…

Machka like Kylia said I appreciate your and Penny’s and Heather’s and pip’s and everyone’s pics. I used to travel, haven’t since marrying Joe. The pics fill that need. Thank you all!
Katla running the letter past Allie’s attorney=good catch!
Annie attagal for biking and waking up those quads.
Tracey your motivational meme made me snort my water!
Debbie thank you so much for sharing your parent’s video. What a tribute to their self-reliance and happiness. “Healdsburg, “Geyserville,” “Mendocino” and “Goat Rock” make me homesick for the N. Calif of 50 years ago.. I lived in Ukiah from 1959-1968, went to Campfire Girl camp in Mendocino Woodlands, played on the beach near Goat Rock when I lived on E. Austin Creek Rd near Cazadero in 1972. Was so incredibly lucky to be in those places, then.
Michele another good point about custody of and plans to care for Alfie (and Homer.) One of the many things I love about the gals on this thread is how we really care about each other and bring all our different perspectives, skills and ideas to bear on issues as they come up.
Over 2K short of new step goal, this is gonna take some effort.
Lighter, lovelies!

I'm so sorry, and I know that video must be terribly hard to watch right now--but I appreciate you posting it more than I can even begin to tell you. I'd give a lot to have a video of my mother, who has been gone for 22 years now, but nothing exists that I know of, just still pictures. It's hard now to remember her voice...
Heather
Breathe through it, my friend, when you don't exercise even for one day, your whole world goes on tilt - you need those endorphins, woman! Channel your quarantine Heather, and realize it's never a party if you aren't there...
Got my herb seedlings planted out yesterday in between short rain bursts... Corey put together a tent for me of window screens - it lets them get all the sun they need, but in the next few weeks of spring, will keep the heavy rains from drowning them, as the screen disperses the larger drops. Because I am a complete geeky noodge, I planted them in alphabetical order, so from left to right, started with basil and ended with thyme.
Reminds me, when I go into town this morning for something Corey said he didn't need yesterday (!) I need to pick up a rosemary plant, as well as a reasonably sized patio planter. Evidently, it can get four to six feet high, and needs to be protected from frost. Glad I didn't plant it in the herbs bed! Growing rosemary from seed takes years, I guess, so buying them grown from cuttings is the best way to start.
Egg was sick all weekend, laying around, very obviously not feeling well, and I was seriously contemplating getting her to the vet this morning, but she came in the bathroom with me this morning all bouncy and was ready to go outside and terrorize the small creatures of the early morning darkness. Whatever it is/was, she appears to be better. She just came in to visit Corey while he finishes his ablutions, their early morning routine.
Whenever possible, you don't close doors around Egg. She knows how to push them open if they're barely cracked, and if they're not cracked, she will put a paw under them and rattle them like mad. If that doesn't work, the yowling as if she's lost her mind begins. It's the only thing that seems to bother her... and it bothers ME, because I swear it sounds as if she's saying "Mmmmmooooooooommmmm!" Crazy cat.
Quilt work this morning, and finishing up a couple of things. Had a flash of an idea for painting some of the carpenter, simple canvas two-pocket aprons with sayings like "It's party thyme," or "I'm sexy and I grow it," and selling them at the market. I bought a blank one for me for 97 cents yesterday, as it's the easiest way to keep cash safe when you're selling things at a garage sale or market. I was planning on buying one for gardening, too. You always need things like a small cutter or plastic gloves, or wire, or whatever. I would bet I can sell painted ones 'em for five times the price of the apron, and I have lots of paint.
Ah... Corey's off to work, the bed's made, time to get the dishes going in the dishwasher, a load of laundry in progress, and get something done. Good GRIEF, it feels good to feel good. Seems like the first time in more than a year--probably because it has been.
Love y'all,
