    Morning, afternoon and evening, all,

Came home yesterday and the neighbor saw me across the fence--she said if I had some more of the canna lilies, she would buy a dozen off me, so I'll get those ready for her this morning - her $20 puts me right at $90, and my goal is $100 for each sale, so I got close. While I'm getting hers ready to go, I'm going to get more gladiolus put together and ready for next week--hers will take care of all the canna lilies, I think.

Julie[/b] - Hope your major and essential work-related pieces go well. You sound a little stressed.

Things to do - I want to finish quilting some of the pieces for my niece's quilt before I go digging around in the yard. Just three more large pieces for the frame of the quilt, and it will be done, and using sashing to add those onto the whole and binding after that. Nearly done, but assume it will be hard to do much of this while I have family here.

    Later,
    Love y'all,
    Lisa in AR

The side gig as florist sounds lovely! yes stressed ! thanks for the well-wishes ! good luck with the quilt!

Julie- I feel you! I am temporarily over one hump at work and it feels really good. The end is hard to see but we are here to help you breath deeply occasionally. HUGS! Wow, on the text. Seriously, I don't know about people some days!

I woke up thinking again about clearing out a bunch of "things" I don't enjoy anymore. It is weighing heavy on my heart for some reason today. It is so strange that I was so excited to buy these things in my 30s and 40s, yet as I approach 60, it is weighing me down. I don't want sterile, but there is just so much taking up space that someone will need to deal with at some point. Maybe it is the one year mark of my MIL's passing that has it weighing down so much. She had thinned out a lot of her things in the past few years, yet there was still so much to go through and that got given away. I don't know, just thinking on paper.

Kylia, I feel like I'll never get over the hump! I remember a line from the movie "boyhood" that came out some years ago. the "mom" character surmised something like " we spend the 1st half of our lives acquiring things and the 2nd half getting rid of stuff." I think there is some truth to that.

Kelly, I check subtitles occasionally, if I miss something in a show.

What language are you most interested in?
I speak French fluently so that doesn't count. I speak just the tiniest bit of Italian and do love the language and culture. I took some classes and cassettes way back when and travelled a bit way back when and have a slight slight base, that could be reactivated. it's relatively close to French. not that one can converse or understand, but that would make the learning/relearning easier. I love to go on a short trip to Italy sometimes on vacation. you can also do language exchanges! many people want to improve their English (almost everyone!) you can find someone with common interests. This used to be live meetings all over the world, in Paris: picnics, coffee shops etc, with informal and more formal language exchanges (so often for free, or the price of a coffee), with online connections. now I imagine its mostly online one on one and group exchanges which opens up possibilities of finding partners. For example you could find someone who writes and runs and lives near the sea (and within a certain age range if that is helpful or or desirable, and that it be a woman if you prefer or indifferent ; or people who like cruises ; or cooking, etc, etc). I don't know if there is a fee now, but I can't imagine they can charge much.

Hi there. Feeling rather fragile today as I had an upset tum for a few days and it erupted mid afternoon yesterday. I’ll omit the gory details, but suffice it to say I felt like a wet rag this morning.

Slowly returning the land of the living.

I hope you feel better soon.

Allie - I think of cooking as transformation. When I was on my own i would fry a steak, or microwave fish, but that was not cooking in my book. Luckily, I could buy excellent healthy food to 'assemble' which was beautifully prepared by the supermarket gurus, (at a price), so I was eating healthily and well, but I wasn't transforming food to a different state, like a stew.
It is hard to get motivated when you haven't got anyone to share with. :'(
I totally agree. when I lived in a couple cooking was one of the creative things we did together. it was a way of taking care of and enjoying one another. even if we were both super busy we could still plan and fix it together and make some veggies to go with the roast fowl and the frozen desert. alone I can do that occasionally but meal after meal after meal alone definitely loses it's interest. I go between quickly prepared meals frozen veggies, fruits etc, and occasionally asian take away and frozen meals (not much the later). Today, mixed 2 frozen veggies and 2 soft boiled eggs w olive oil and herbs and spices. it was good, very low labor and not super exciting. very par for the course.

Thanks- yes we will be doing a video option for people to watch. It is Memorial Day weekend so many will be traveling- it may help some be able to come and will be the reason some can't make it.

I haven't heard how the conversation went yet. I will call mom later this afternoon to see.
Masks are still required here, especially inside. Her wanting to bring her dogs onto the property again was just the last straw for mom. She almost lost her dog and had to pay $3000 in vet bills and sister knows her dogs are never to be on the property again but told her son that is what she wanted to do.

It really is hard and the worst time to get the virus but they really didn't have the money to come out anyways. I will just be there to listen to both sides, like I always do. It will work out for the best in the long run.
Both sisters tend to be pretty selfish but now is NOT the time to be that way.

    Thanks again.
    Debbie
It does sound like it's working out for the best. I would expect people to TRY to be less selfish these days, but not necessarily to succeed. A year of semi-confinement can get people stuck in their own minds, in which every way the mind trends. I'm not convinced that it's been the best for the minds of all.

At church council I was the only one masked. Our pianist/music leader told me that she personally knew that every person present at the council meeting had been fully vaccinated. I was happy to remove my mask. It will be different at line dancing Tuesday. I personally know that 3 of the gals have not and will not be vaccinated, so I will be one of the only two that keep our masks on. [sigh]

Julie it is the same here, must follow up every test to make sure received. Frequently staff says “It’s not in the computer” because labs, hospitals, providers all have different systems that are not exchanging data well. Sometimes one office has to fax hard copy to another, who then scans it in. Then the MA, PA or MD really has to LOOK at the results. Pfaugh.

Heather, I had to google “J’ai la peche”, Brava!. Moi, j’ai la patate ;)

Allie ((hugs)) so sorry for your loss and the grim reminder that this pandemic isn’t over yet. Hope the consult leads to a sleep test and some answers soon.

Kylia “…Plants are in the ground. Gutters and roof top cleaned out/off. Went to Costco….” wish I were as “unproductive” as you!

I really wanted red wine today but it was sunny and warm so I opted for real beer and ended up going way over on calories with pizza, salty and sweet snacks. Had I had the 2 glasses of red wine, chicken rigatoni and salad that I’d planned it would have been much better. Ah well.

Barbara how Nice that you can go back to "normal" at church council.
That reminds me I was supposed to get test results today and was to call back if I didn't get them. (and I didn't get them!) pain in butt. I feel like I'm spending my entire life following up on bits and bobs. "J'ai la frite." :D (not really but the expression is funny) ("I have the French fry!")
Je n'ai pas la frite! sorry about the beer pizza slip.

I have get a home sleep test too. this week. they will wire me up! (but I'll sleep at home)

    Kylia, great work!

Son in law just called off today. Steve asked why, I don't know, you didn't ask Rodney. I think son in law just needs a break from all the drama and feels unappreciated from most of them. Oh well, I will deal like always!

I'm not feeling great physically, and thus mind wise! I'm not sure what it is. I wake up tired. had deep blood tests and there was an SMD scare, which im still watched for (regular blood tests every 3 months) but that is not confirmed. the big specialist said I could eventually get it in some years, but probably don't have it now. Not really reassuring but I don't know what else I can do. he doesn't think my tiredness is due to this. the hospital lost part of my test that was to be transferred to another hospital for special culture. so I did a second bone marrow aspiration (not my fave) and again there seemed to be some problem. it was supposed to be done In about 3 weeks max, but after 4 weeks I contacted them for news, and then about 10 days later I got results saying the lab "received the sample a day or two after I contacted them, and that the marrow was taken at "unknown date", and the quality was not great, but sort of "passable"
I looked up this sort of test wand what I found said that it's supposed to be rejected if more than 5 days old or if frozen. which leaves the thing rather shaky. however the big specialist and the other guy both thought that the other results seemed to indicate that I probably didn't have SMD. (but can't be ruled out).

My old GP retired so I tried this new lady who is not great. I went to a new guy who seems ok. he's sending me for (at home) sleep test hookup. and thyroid test.

I'm not really convinced it's one of those but at least he is looking into it.

Being alone alone alone (physically) can't help. I got a haircut this morning (it's been 5 months and it was formless, and now I like it!) the hairdresser is super -kind and good at cutting and it's not expensive! then for a coffee and instead of reading the paper I chatted with a coupled of ladies at length. it felt much better.

then going back to my home alone :: blechkk

I'm so fed up with my walls!

tomorrow outdoor restaurants will open again after many many months of being closed (since November!) only outside seating for the first few weeks.

I used to very often work in a café to be alone and not be alone.

Being alone I find it hard to concentrate and feel confident. I feel more confidante when working with others, than here hour after hour with my lovely walls!

(and my home is not so bad by local standards : 2 rooms big windows a narrow balcony the length of the 2 rooms, where I can put a table and 2 chairs and a hammock, and looking down onto quite street with yards, and maybe 70 yards or so to the closest windows (so it doesn't feel like people can look into your home easily -unless they make a point to - or have lights on and curtains open at night - and visa versa, its rather far)

    but I feel stuck

have to work on two major things with big deadlines and feel a bit freaked and not in great working situation.

since cafés are opening again for 1st time in about 6 months tomorrow I'd hypothetically like to spend from 6am to 9pm in my favorite café(s)...

any tricks for getting working when energy is the socks (in your socks is a French expression, meaning very low: energy/motivation, etc.)

Good morning ... (I mean that two ways ... Good morning to you ... and it was a GOOD morning). Finally saw the scale bust down 1.5 pounds. Took measurements to start logging those as well. 45 minute morning walk completed, and some light weeding in my yard. Next up ... eating breakfast and prepping lunch (today on the menu is fish tacos (cod) with fresh pico de gallo and guacamole.) ... then it's time to get to my job (I work from home). On my personal "'to-do" list is planning my TRX workouts and getting the garage-gym ready for me. I also need to plan next week's dryland routine for the summer swim team I coach.

I tried to find a dietician locally that has the ability to test resting metabolic rates, but the closest I can find is 3.5 hours away. Trying to focus on slow steady progress. Glad there was movement on the scale. Need to be content with simply making positive changes in my lifestyle and not worrying about the scale.

Bananas - Unfortunately, the language want to improve is German, and most German educated people speak English well already. I'm able to maintain French and Spanish easily enough as they are at a decent level. I belong to a French Circle, which will be able to get started again in September. :D
We are calling at Spain on our cruise next year, which I am looking forward to immensely. Malaga, Barcelona and Cadiz. Cadiz is new to us. I lived in Mexico and Peru for a month each , along with 5 years night classes and many visits to Spain. German is harder to source for films and TV, but I have found a daily news service to watch. I watch Easy German videos and podcasts, and an interactive app, but I find it hard. Difficult language.
I really want to take a city break over there soon. When I last went to Germany and Austria I was delighted to be able to order a simple meal, but I think I can do better now! Unfortunately, they nearly always talk English back to you, so I will have to tell them I want to speak German.
Ich würde gerne Deutsch sprechen, well ich es lerne. I would like to speak German because I am learning it. :*
I very much want to go to Dresden. Or anywhere! B)

:) I will wait to see what happens as things open up around here. I am concerned that people being less cautious will result in further outbreaks of Covid. My life is just fine the way it is. So far there is no news about when the line dance facility will allow us to dance and under what protocols, so I will content myself with dancing at home, walking in the neighbourhood, working in my yard, and getting groceries and library books via masked curbside pickup.

:) Cold and drizzly today so I will wait to plant zucchini seeds. The hills are ready for them but I want them to start on a warmer day.

So sorry for the turmoil at work. Would the world fall apart if you stepped back and just let you hubby and his sister run it for a while. They might realize that without you there, the business would fail.

Need to get a haircut but can't decide. Too lazy I guess!
