    Hi @colettebeers8501 !
GREAT to hear from you! I’m
So glad you’re doing well & maintaining! That is Winning!
I hear you on the changing the habits of a lifetime!

I’ve had some symptoms, so reduced my fiber which is always too high, but it doing so, ate mostly “white” carbs/sugars & lean meats & a little fat. The first stimulates my appetite. I kept walking daily A LOT but developed mild plantar fasciitis due to walking on hardwood (cleaning) for many hours without shoes on. If it’s not one thing, it’s another!

So I’m not going for extra walks. Wearing shoes. Icing the soles of my feet. Stretching etc.

Test tomorrow should yield important clues as to what might be going on. Looking forward to that.

Houseguests arrived late last night with a boatload of treats to share. I’m seeing foods I haven’t seen in 3-5 years.

I’m reminding myself that I’m not like normal eaters, kindly. I can quite easily eat 3,000 calories. So I’m tracking everything. Will pick up walking as the P.F. Heals. Of course I’m bummed asI have done so great the past 3+ years walking daily & looked forward to a lot of hikes with our son/wife. I’m tempted just to do them & pay the consequences later, but I’ve had PF before & it took a long time to get rid of when it was bad.

Sorry for the book. In summary, struggling a bit, but hopeful for good outcomes all around.

Grateful to be partners on this journey.

    🌺💕🎉🌷

PS Sumner is always my most difficult season weight wise. I seem to gain 2 lbs with the first few really hot days & hold on to them until the first really colder days in the fall. Nice to recognize the patterns!

Take good care- see you in a week or two!

I’m really struggling with willpower and a pretty good case of the eff its 😬 I feel grateful to be maintaining last year’s weight loss but I’m having spells of adolescent-type tantrum throwing over not being able to eat whatever I want and do whatever I want etc. When I stop and examine my thoughts and behaviors, I get a little laugh out of it all because I’m being so childish but still, why can’t I eat ice cream in front of the TV every night and still be fit and healthy? 😭🤣🤣🤣 I had a free-for-all weekend so I spent Sunday sipping on kale smoothies trying to balance out my blood sugar and my attitude.
@MadisonMolly2017 its funny that you mentioned eating 3000 calories because when I entered all my food into the app Saturday night, it was around 3000 calories 😳 Mostly from one restaurant meal!! I have to say that I felt like garbage from all the sugar and carbs so I’m hoping that’s just a lesson learned. I’m sorry to hear about your flare up and the plantar fasciitis. I’ve been struggling with a mild case of that (self diagnosed) for about a year or so. I found some relief from putting insoles in my shoes and also from doing yoga (downward dog stretches the feet and calves in just the right places) and slowing down my pace when I hike. Hope you heal up quickly. Take good care of you XO

    Hi @colettebeers8501
Thanks for your post! Always good to hear from you!

Re: the “Why do I have to ?” - itis, I’ve been there. Cropped up more early in my maintenance than it does now. I think I finally accepted what I read in an on-line book on maintenance (which I cannot for the life of me find now. 😢)...that
    I. The American food scene is TOXIC. 78% of American adults are overweight or obese.
[I use these statements when I see everyone out in restaurants, laughing & dining... many ARE overweight ie there is a price paid - which I paid for 45-50 years. No thank you, I’d rather be healthy & not feel yucky as I did after restaurant high salt high sugar high fat meals.]
One reason I think it got easier is we stopped eating out. Completely. Never did takeout. I actually noticed on our recent trip (that now that I’m not dieting & I don’t let myself get too hungry) I did not get the cues while we were driving to stop & eat somewhere. This was probably after 20 times we took drives or trips with our own packed food. Those I had to white knuckle. The key - for me - is not being too hungry, having foods I want to eat, and my fear over germs - because of my kidney transplant.

    2. Just what you said. When I do eat more, I don’t feel well. I pay attention to that kindly - like a mother. “OK, well, try to remember this next time. You’ve got this.” Often I find when I eat more, I look back & realize I had exercised more or eaten less previously.

    3. If I notice I’m eating really fast (usually I slow down & savor, I try to put on the brakes. 🛑 that’s a sure sign it’s not about hunger.
    4. We keep ice cream & cookies out of the house after trying 15 times to be moderate. Perhaps we’ll try instead; perhaps not.

    5. I remind myself that every time I overweight means I will need to underwear to maintain AND I HATE dieting. This works best of all. I HATE dieting. It’s hard on our bodies -as is overeating & ive decided to treat “my body, my ally- my friend for life” kindly.

ALWAYS Grateful to be partners on this journey.

    🌺💕🎉🌷

Life is settling down and I have a fridge full of veggies! Next week these numbers will be heading in the right direction again.

@MadisonMolly2017 thanks so much for sharing your wisdom! It’s so helpful. And you’re right, we’ve got to take care of our bodies. They’re our homes. I would throw garbage all over inside my house (although sometimes you can’t really tell that 😉)…why would we put garbage into our bodies? I hate dieting, too, but I’m going to have to dial back my intake a bit for a couple of weeks to balance out all my stress eating from last month. It’s fine. I’m still in the 150s and when I eat like I’m supposed to (NO SUGAR!), the weight always comes off. As always, I love hearing from you!
    Take good care,
    Colette 🙋🏻‍♀️

@MadisonMolly2017 I’m so sorry you’ve had a rough couple of weeks. It’s so hard to stay the course when the universe is blowing everything around like it does sometimes. You’ve totally got this though! I admire your spirit and appreciate your transparency and authenticity. Life IS harder sometimes and plans go sideways when we get sad or stressed…or even when we just want to have a little fun. It’s all part of the journey and it’s nice having you on the journey, too. So, yeah, I’ll be back to weekly check ins with you! We’re gonna crush it in this second half.
I’ve committed to hiking every day in July even if I’ve got to get up in the dark. Also having to step away from the sweets again. The first couple of days without sugar are hard but the cravings stop pretty quickly. I’m feeling good and motivated to drop this last 10 lbs….for my health not my Instagram 😉 Hope you’re doing great, Maddie! See you next week. Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸

So, I just spent 30 minutes typing in all the rest off the dates for the year and and updating my weights and wrote a long message and then I hit the “done” button instead of the “post” button and lost it all. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Will have to do all that again later. It’s one of those days 🤪
Anyway, the gist is the my 10lbs down journey is now officially renamed 15 lbs down journey and I’m mad at myself. Whatever, I’ll fix everything next week 😉
    @MadisonMolly2017 Hope you’re doing great 😊

@colettebeers8501 I’m so sorry; I lost a huge post a few days ago. Grr.

Ok, then. Monday mornings are always a fresh start, a clean slate. Time to get my act together. Now I know that my diet and exercise habits must be consistent to reach/stay where I want to be weight and health-wise. Sure, it’s annoying that I’m over 50 and all the rules have changed. But it is what it is. I’ll adjust 😂 Hopefully, I’ll be back in the 150s by next week so I can stop being mad about it! #nevergiveup

@MadisonMolly2017 thanks, as always, for your support! 😁😁😁

Still feeling too busy to exercise as much as I’d like to. Not sure how I’m going to fix that but I’m sure the answer is to get up and moving earlier in the morning 😩 If I cut out carbs, I lose weight but as soon as I eat carbs again, I gain it back….unless I’m hiking 3 miles or more a day. I guess I could only eat carbs when I walk..? Idk. This week I’m tired of thinking about it.

    Hope you’re doing great, Maddie! @MadisonMolly2017 🌴🌺🌞

    @colettebeers8501

    Thank you Colette!
My brain was hurting, too, for awhile!

I’m sorry you are feeling so busy! I find doing 5-10 mins every day is helping me get things done in those little moments! At one point, I split my exercise into 3X per day. Somehow shorter times made it more achievable!

I’m going to steal your calendar & join your weekly recording!

We CAN do this, I know!

BTW, my 2lbs gain in June coincided with elevated summer temps. Last year that 2lbs dropped off in October. I’m still trying to whittle it down, but I am curious if this gain will take care of itself with cooler temps!!

    All my best,
    🌸Maddie

Haven’t checked in for a couple of weeks. It’s not as fun when I can’t report losses 😆 but here I am and magically I’m under 160. My schedule is looking like it’ll be pretty busy for a while so I’m going to have to carve out some time to maintain my health goals. This week’s health goal is to eat way more vegetables and to drink way less wine. I always lose weight when I cut out alcohol but when I get busy, I get stressed and end up drinking (and eating sugar) more than usual. It’s time to be a grownup and show a little discipline. Every day is the opportunity for a fresh start. Let’s do this!
