I think I have bottomed out on scale weight for the month. The water retention cycle now starts anew, so I won't update for another few weeks until I have another new low. I'm really happy with my progress so far. A steady drop of about 1.5 lb/week, lots of energy, no hunger. I've been getting in plenty of easy exercise (almost daily walks, 10-15 mile bike rides 2-3 times a week). I gotta say, after just a week of even more plant-based foods, I feel pretty full a lot of the time. I guess there is something to all that fiber!

One pound to go until my BMI is below 35 and I'm back in the lowest obesity category!

Just an example for anyone worried about water weight gains. I think we are all pretty solid on water weight here compared to threads in the main forum, but I certainly always appreciate the reminders.

After my low weight of 204.5, I woke up at 208.8 this morning. Yesterday was my best friend's birthday, and I went a little (ha) overboard with food. Did I actually gain 4.3 lbs of fat? Absolutely not.

Even though I was ate more than 1000 calories above maintenance, I certainly did not eat the 15,000 calories above to cause 4.3 lbs of fat gain. I also did not even eat the 3500 above maintenance to cause 1 lb of fat gain. And since I've been at a deficit all week (~500 calories a day, 3500/week), I may have slowed down or negated my weight loss for the week, but I certainly did not GAIN any weight.

In addition, we ate out and had cheese. Lots. Of. Salt. So much water retention, not to mention just the weight of the food I ate that is still digesting. I've already on my 4th quart of water today (not forcing it, just drinking to my thirst). When the water weight drops, I'm going to be in the bathroom constantly lol.

Finally, I walked a lot more than normal yesterday. I did my usual 2-3 mile walk in the morning and then proceeded to walk another 4 miles around the city with my friend. (More water retention). In the heat. (Even more water retention).

I can tell I'm a bit bloated today by how my rings fit. It'll probably be a while before I see the water weight drop off, given where I am in my cycle. But I fully still expect to see a new low next month, probably around 200-201 or so (assuming I stay on track for the rest of the month!)

I so needed to read this today. The past two months have been a bit crazy on the scale front for me. I can feel that I'm losing fat. But. These. Numbers! Enough to drive a person around the bend! Today I felt so very disheartened. And that makes me want to do something extreme. And that always leaves me in danger of binging - which usually means at least a few binge type days. Thank you for reminding me of the reality of water weight.

A loss is a loss and big or small it is a pretty fine thing! Good on you!

    The monthly drop cycle begins.

I was back up to 208.4 after my trip. Most was surely water retention, but I did eat a LOT at the end of the trip, so not sure where I'll end up this month. Probably not as low as I was hoping, but we'll see!

    SW: 256 (June 2019)
    LW: 193 (September 2020)
    5/6: 211.6
    6/12: 204.5 (most recent low)
    6/15: 206.6 (last pre-trip weight)
    6/28: 208.4 (first post-trip weight)
    Today: 205.4

Congratulations are in order @eliezalot - what restraint and self control you must have shown during that trip to be within 1 pound of your most recent low! Wow. Kudos to you.

Thanks, @lauriekallis - I needed that! I was feeling pretty bummed about that 208 weight. I was hoping to end up between 200 and 201 this month, which might be wishful thinking at this point. But, at least it is dropping. Now, we sit back and watch lol.

Inspiring. You managed to lose while not tracking! Congratulations! I hope your vacation was a whole heck of a lot of fun - or full of some good relaxation!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I think swimming my *kitten* off paid off well, although I got a hearty sunburn as a souvenir in the end..XD
Not tracking felt..er..weird? For the first two days or so. Then I just went by eye and tried to not overindulge..much.

Another test comes on the 19th (got another vacation coming, lucky!). This time I think I'll try to eat a little more and see what happens.

7/7: 205.6 - dropping back down again. Between all of the trips to the kitchen for more water and extra trips to the bathroom because of said water, I'm at least getting some extra steps in!

We leave tomorrow for vacation, so tomorrow morning will be my last weight of this cycle. I'm glad I saw a new low this month, even if it was brief and not as low as I had hoped. If I were home, I know I'd continue to see it drop over the next few days. Guess I'll just have to be patient until next month to see where it comes out. This is one of those times when I just have to trust the process!
