What I've learned in the first week of July?
* Workouts may look short, but that doesn't mean they're easy
* Exercise progressions are your friend so that you don't feel like giving up
* Leg raises will make your lower abs hurt for at least 5 days, affecting your ability to laugh without being in pain
Onwards and upwards, as they say 💁🏿♀️

How is your first week into the month of July going?
Remind yourself that you are here and this makes you a champion!
This first week was a struggle, I need to remember I have NO control over how people react to a situation. I WON’T let emotional eating attack me!
Atomic Habits Tiny changes. Remarkable Results James Clear is a extremely interesting book!
1. Hiding or shaming ourselves doesn't fix the situation. When we show up and share, we admit that we're not where we want to be, and that's where transformation happens.
2. 99% of people pull back and hide because they want to wait until it gets better before they show up and share, thinking they have nothing worthy to offer.
3. When you show up and share you're struggling, it gives someone else permission to realize it's OK to do the same.
4. Consistency - not perfection is what leads to success. Being consistent is more important than all else.10 -

What great insight! It takes many of us a lifetime to figure this out! We truly can’t control how others react to a situation. We can only control what we do in response.5 -

I would say July is off to a pretty good start. I am keeping things in perspective. Since starting MFP in May, I have not lost as much weight as I had hoped by this point, but I have not gained any back. So, no yo-yo. And, that is a win for me and a motivation to keep going at this steady pace.

Thnx for sharing the pic @clutterqueen💛
@mshawski It means your friend😉 is well hydrated, good job!
Lol @MaltedTea. Last Friday I did my first ever ab exercises and ended up taking Tylenol the next day! And that was just 10 minutes of exercises with 15 second breaks in between each 40 second exercise, not even 10 full minutes!
@GrandmaJackie Good points, both from you and the book. My sister told me a long time ago that you can't control how others act, only how you react. It takes practice but you can get to where you need to be.
Yes x 3 today.
How is my July going so far? Well let's just say I'm looking rather colorful and I've learned that I shouldn't take a phonecall on my bike... Oh and that Tylenol works for all kinds of ailments 🙂10 -
@JennyRebecca1978 Breaking the yo-yo cycle is a struggle for so many. I’m impressed you are going the slow and steady route instead! I agree it’s definitely a win!4

July is going very well so far. We are on a holiday that we've focused around our new love for outdoor pursuits so we are staying on track. Feels good to be putting our new healthy habits to good use for fun!8 -
@ashleycarole86 So glad to hear July is going well for you! Vacations can be tricky, but it sounds like your hikes are making all the difference!2

@clutterqueen - loved the sunflower pics. Thanks for sharing.
@GrandmaJackie - I keep hearing about Atomic Habits. I guess I need to read it.
@JennyRebecca1978 - I have become convinced that slow and steady is the secret to keeping it.
@Jana_2020 - yikes I hope you’re ok!

Would have been fine until I had those almonds at 9:00. I don’t even feel bad about it because I know overall today was full of good choices. I didn’t add back in whatever calories I burned walking the dog this morning because it wasn’t a very fast pace.8 -
@znaoiec Thanks for today's opening post. Like you, I have had constant (but wonderful) family events since July 1. Today is the last day of those ongoing celebrations.
I did manage to squeak through on the calories, exercise and tracking, but it was not pretty.
By this time tomorrow, Rose and I, will return to being a couple. Fortunately, we do like being together.

First week of July was a disaster calorie-wise, but I had a great time seeing my Mum, my sister and two best friends in The Netherlands. My Mum is 98 years old and said, with tears in her eyes, that she had thought she would never see me again. Food was dreadful though: lots of bread and cheese, nuts and nibbles, cake and coffee. There's only so many times you can say No. Put on 1.5 kilos, but am back on track now, I think!9
