Wow, another great topic today! @znaoiec I envy you some of the places you’ve hiked!
I just finished an evening hike in Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains.
As a family growing up, we hiked through the woods, camped, played tennis, rode bikes etc. We’ve done all of that during different phases with our own kids but hiking is the big thing these days.
@donna25trinity Congrats on getting so close to your goal! You’re going to make it this time for sure!

@snowshoe072 I’m so glad you got to have a belated birthday celebration with your sister! Well done on making a great choice having a salad! You know, birthday cake does freeze. You can slice it and double ziploc individual slices and it will be good for 3 months.3

@seilidhe - your progress picture was amazing. Your face is so much thinner!
@donna25trinity - sooooo close! You’re going to make it!

@Jana_2020 Well done getting back on track after a short hiatus! If I’m off track one day, it’s not terribly difficult getting back on, but if I am off track 2 or more days, it’s a bear getting back on track! Or maybe I should say, I become a bear!2

@znaoiec Thanks for your excellent post. We raised our 4 kids to love the outdoors. Long distance multiple day bike trips and horseback riding and camping in the western United States. Now, Rose and I love to hike in the Arizona desert (usually November through April).

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? I think I made it.
Did I track everything? I did.
Did I stay within calories goals? I missed it by a little.
Freggies? Picked my way through the wilted leaves of the packaged salad I'd planned to finish yesterday, but I didn't go to work, plus had a cup, cup and a half, of spinach with dinner.
Activities that brought me together with friends and family? I can't say there was anything, growing up or into my mid-adult years that had me active with family. Friends on the other hand? As a teen, it was roller skating 3-6 nights a week at one of the local rinks. There was also the increasingly rare trips to a local stable to ride. Before children, my ex and I had a couple of horses but we didn't ride together very often. And if he didn't want to ride, I rode by myself. Then basically nothing for many, many years. I did ballroom dancing for awhile and my daughters came to the "practice parties" so we had fun with that. (And it often occurs to me how much I miss dancing, riding, and skating).
Eventually, I decided to start "running." I ran mostly by myself, until I was introduced to a local running group. I made some friends who, when we first met, were about my pace. No longer. They are either far ahead of me or they've given up the activity for one reason or another. We're still friends, we just don't run together. I don't run with the group that much anymore. Mostly because I can't keep up and I'm too lazy (and broke) to drive to the other side of town to run by myself when I can do that for free here. But I still greet them, or at least wave when they greet me, if we pass on the path. (I'm usually struggling to breathe when I run into anybody I know... so the best I can do is wave. LOL) My younger daughter ran with me for awhile, but then she got involved in a couple of recreational soccer teams, so runs with mom fell by the wayside. Now, I bike. Sometimes by myself. Sometimes with my sister. Sometimes with my other daughter. And sometimes all three of us. And now that I know one of my friends from the running group is also a newbie cyclist, we're going to try to meet up once in awhile somewhere in between our respective abodes. Oh, and lately, my daughter has been joining me on my evening walks with the dog. So there's that.
And on that note, I'll bid all of you a good night and/or a lovely day.5 -

I really didn't want to take a pass day right before my vacation but the pesto sauce put me over on calories. I should have pre-logged!6 -
@WhatMeRunning
I’m so impressed with the way you meet all your challenges, and those walks are so fast! I really appreciate the way you find time to comment on other’s achievements.
@TwistedSassette you are doing really well in your first month. Congratulations on the freggies!

@mshawski you need to listen to your body and rest when it calls for it. 200 calories is nothing to worry about.
@Jana_2020 well done resisting temptation. Partners and friends offering kindnesses and treats have to be handled carefully. It’s a negotiation between showing your appreciation of the thought while explaining why you don’t want it this time.
