My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 61 years old and from the Midwest USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Starting Weight (from June 30th): 196.4
    Goal: 191.4 (Five lb Loss):
    Ending Weight for Challenge:

07/01 – 197.6 After a tummy illness which produced a false low weight, I think this is likely my true current weight. I did very well for an old gal in June. I hope to keep up the progress in July. Let’s make it happen my friends!
07/02 - 198.6 My son’s birthday was yesterday. High calorie celebrations. Today I will be very careful as I have a very long trip tomorrow and there will be multiple meals out. Gotta get past this madness!
07/03 - 197.8 I did pretty well yesterday and increased my movement a bit. Travel today. I expect the scale will be up tomorrow, but it will be temporary.
07/04 - 199.2 I expected this after a very long day of travel. I am really going to have to make some selective choices and watch my quantities today to keep the scale in Onederland. Today is a food-driven American Holiday so I must really tip-toe today but I know I can do it. Happy Independence Day to all my American Friends.
07/05 - 198.0 Okay then. Now I’m glad I kept the calories low on my 4th of July holiday! It pays off! Lots of stresses this week. Very big ones that is so bad I can barely sleep. By Friday all should be resolved. Praying for strength to stay the course until then.
07/06 - 197.4 Busy day yesterday with lots of visitors so I didn’t get in any extra movement. Glad to see the scale down anyway. Today I travel and lunch will be Thai food. One of my all-time favorites and such a treat that the town I am going to has a Chinese-Thai restaurant. Scale may swell up from it in the coming days but I know the bloat will only be temporary so I am not going to sweat the small or the temporary. I can live my life and still be victorious. Setbacks make my journey a little longer, that’s all.
07/07 - 198.0 Travel weight and restaurant lunch showing up on the scale this morning. Tonight will be leftovers so it may affect the scale tomorrow too. I plan on making adjustments to the overall day to make up for it. It rained all night and will be raining all day so outdoors are a no-go. Expecting a worker here today anyway. I will try to use my stairs to get in some steps with extra effort.
07/08 - 198.4 Uptick due to the leftovers from the Thai restaurant. Temporary weight. I’m not worried. I’ll pee it out LOL.
07/09 – 196.6 It has been about 9 days since I was down to this approximate weight (June 30th). Finally all my travel weight, the restaurants, the car sitting is receding. Huge stresses this week also that only happen once or twice in a lifetime. Got through them without signing myself into the looney bin. I can’t say that it was completely successful, but just that it is over puts me back in the functional category. Finally 5 hours of sleep instead of 2 or 3 all week!
07/10 – 197.6 Ouch! I’m not sure what happened. I took a short walk yesterday. My calories were not too bad but I did have some ice cream that was not sugar free. My bad. I’ll make today better.
07/11 - 197.6 Calories were okay yesterday but the choices were questionable. I am going to work today at better healthier meals. I’ve got to stop being lazy about cooking. Sometimes I just don’t feel like messing up the kitchen! My workers didn’t leave until 9:00 PM. They will be back today.
07/12 - 195.8 I think I am going to be in a good mood all day. I haven’t been this low in quite some time. Goodbye Covid-19 pounds!
07/13 - 195.2 I got pretty hungry last night. I realized my calories for the day were still a bit low. Canned Organic Tomato Basil soup did the trick. It fit within my calorie budget and the liquid aspect of it filled my belly. High sodium though so I’m glad to not see a jump on the scale (especially since I ate it so late). Hopefully, with extra water, there will be no impact upcoming.
07/14 - 196.0 Too much sodium lately. Last night my calories were a bit up at about 1550. My bad snack consisted of peanut butter filled pretzels with that big chunky salt on them. The day before was canned soup which usually makes me retain water. Today is a trip to the dairy queen with son & his friend. I must be reasonable with the DQ lunch and work it off later. Workers will be here later this afternoon so my privacy will be affected. I’ll walk in the yard, and also use my indoor steps to get in some form of workout.
07/15 - 196.8 Dairy Queen yesterday. No TMI x 2 days. Recipes for disaster overall. Today is the day I make a step in the right direction again. I just hope my body cooperates by working properly. Time to pull out the cleanse tea.
07/16 - 195.6 Much better. Lost some of that water retention finally. Clease tea helped a little, not a lot. I will work on more steps today, I was only at 9000+ yesterday and I want to hit my 10,000 daily. No excuses when the weather is nice and not raining. Even if I have to get them in my yard!
07/17 - 195.4 Sometimes progress is in leaps & bounds. Sometimes in slow Chinese torture type drips. I’ll take progress any way I can get it. Feeling more fit today which is also a plus!
07/18 - 194.8 I had a great day yesterday. I logged food for the first time in 1 ½ years (pre-Covid). I felt ready to face my choices in my food and exercise. I see this as further venturing into my journey, deep into the woods of the unknown. Time to face my demons!
07/19 – 194.0 This may be a temporary low as I ended up with an extra low calorie day yesterday due to time constraints. Tomorrow will give the bigger picture. I burned a lot of extra calories yesterday also because I scrubbed down my whole house yesterday outside which is not something I do everyday. I love seeing this lower number and I hope it sticks. I will have to plan carefully today.
07/20 - 194.4 No reason for the uptick. All my calories were in the green with plenty left over. My carbs were on the low end. No high-sodium foods that should have caused this. Sometimes it is just a mystery but it does eventually move forward again so I am just taking it in stride. I am still down 2 pounds from my challenge starting weight.
07/21 – 193.4 The results of the past couple of days finally showed up on the scale. Now to hang on and keep the 180’s in my sights!
07/22 – 194.2 Dammit! I got really hungry last night because dinner earlier just didn’t satisfy. I ended up eating extra “diet” snacks. I was in the red by 199 calories. 0.8 heavier today which is concerning because I am having a long travel day today which will mean restaurants and sitting. I dread tomorrow’s weigh-in! On the good side – my trend weight is still going down. Staying grateful!
07/23 - 196.4 The results of Thursday travel and that dastardly mini-binge Wednesday night. I refuse to allow it to stay in my life! Today will be a very low cal day. Lots of water. Some mini-walks and some extra movement. I expect a whoosh tomorrow as long as I follow plan. Of course, it’s easy to say when you’re not hungry. Hopefully this great attitude and plan will stick with me throughout the day!
07/24 - 196.6 Out to dinner last night unexpectedly. Kept a good eye on the menu and avoided dessert (my weakness). So, today will be my low calorie day instead. Pouring the rain. I’ll be stuck inside all day. Ugh!
07/25 - 194.8 Kept my extra low calorie day at 1004 yesterday with lots of veggies. Today I travel again and am meeting an old friend for lunch who is visiting Michigan from Tennessee. I will try to keep it reasonable. I am so excited to see her! It’s been a few years.
07/26 – 194.8 Grateful for the steady weight after the special dinner outing yesterday. Down 1.6 pounds from the start. I am going to buckle down until the final weigh-in. I just hope there is no more unexpected travel as it always throws me off.
07/27 – 193.4 A nice whoosh. Dinner was very late last night. No sleep either. Bat in my house which I hope escaped out of my attached garage doors I opened before I hid like a sissy in my bedroom with my new cat. No sign of it this morning but where would it be sleeping in here during the day? Any advice or help is appreciated folks!
