HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:

Username
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month begin!!

My name is Patsy. I have been here for a few years and have learned a lot from all the members. This is a great group to lose with! I joined MFP with the intention of losing about 20 pounds and succeeded with the first 5 or so, then in March 2020 - yes just before Covid shut everything down - was diagnosed with liver cancer and advised to maintain for the duration of treatments. The first four months I was on chemo and I was hungry all the time. I ate more than ever before and my energy increased so I was always moving. Anyway, the chemo stabilized the cancer but no progress toward shrinking it. I started on Keytruda (you've probably seen the commercials on TV) at the end of July and the tumor has died in place! Next scan is scheduled for August 17. They are watching the lymph nodes which are slightly swollen - a side effect of the Keytruda. The end is in sight and I can get back to losing those 15 - 20 pounds.
I am 68, married 51 years (end of August) and we have two grown children and two teenage grandchildren. I was skinny as a child and could eat anything and did. I weighed 99 pounds when I got pregnant the first time and again the second time. I only kept 5 of those pounds after that. I slowly gained weight through my 20s and 30s while being very active taking care of my kids. Then I got an office job and sitting at a desk eating nuts and drinking Coke everyday was the trigger for weight gain though it was very slow and the doctors told me not to worry. My highest weight was 179 about four years ago. I was at 167 when I found this group in November 2018 and my lowest was 156 sometime last year. I have been doing exercises classes online with Silver Sneakers one to three times a week for a couple months. They have several kinds of exercises and different levels so something for everyone. I have not been into exercising on a regular basis before this and find it fun and a good way to get myself motivated.

Happy august everyone! Monday is my weigh in day, although I do weigh-in daily to keep me honest and focused. I’m trying VERY hard to use it as a tool and not my sole focus.

    Goals for August:
-OTF at least 2x per week
-one long walk with the pups per week
-7k steps per day (working up to 10k!)
-lose 6-8 pounds, so GW for August of 290 - 288

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and here’s to a great month!

    51 year old man

My max weight a few weeks back was 260. I'm at 251 today. Weigh in day is Thursday. Lost 9 lbs so far.

Tracking my clean eating on MFP has been essential. I eat right, exercise and the lbs come off. Deviation from that plan slows things down quickly. Joined the group to help me through the plateaus. I know they will come. I'm currently monitoring macros and calories. 1600 calories, 30% fat, 30% carb and 40 % protien each day. Its working so far. I have also run and/or done yoga everyday for the last 14 days. Three to four times per week before that. I don't add any calories for the exercise calories i burn. I'm open to suggestions. Looking forward to making my goal weight of 195 and being muscular and fit.

Ugh!! My steps were horrible this past week. Anyway..

Welcome new team members. I'm Tracy, I live in New Hampshire. I'm 49, have 2 boys who each have a little girl. I have been married for a long time. I have been struggling with my weight since I have had children. I do have an appointment at the end of the month with a weight management dr. Looking forward to it. I love to do zumba and walk. I have been slacking a little. When I get back from my vacation I will get my butt back in gear. I started vacation on Friday. We were supposed to go to Canada for 2 weeks like we do every year but that's a no go again this year. So Friday we took our granddaughters to the farm. They had a blast. I have been out to eat yesterday and today for Birthdays and congratulations for new job. I am leaving in the morning for myrtle beach. Should be fun, I have never been. I'm a little worried because we are driving. Should be an interesting road trip.

Hi, you will have to look at the excel sheet to look up that info. There are six teams, but I couldn’t tell you how many members.

Hi new members. I’m Rachel, team motivator. I’ve been a member of the team since January. It’s helped me to stay on track with my diet. I’m a high school science teacher. We start back tomorrow morning for our first day back since summer break so I’m going to keep this short so I can hit the sack.
I’ve also been married for a long time and I have a teenage boy and girl. Between family, work, dieting, and fitness I stay pretty busy.

My August goals are to drop a few pounds and get down to 140 pounds by the end of the month. I’m training to run a 10 K. I can already run a little over 5K but anything more than that my knee starts hurting. My goal for August is to get up to 6.5 k without knee pain.

Have fun at the beach, Tracy!!

    PW (Previous Weight): 160,5

I did really well during the week, but then Saturday we had a big outside BBQ (in the rain, we hid under the carport) and I had some leftovers on Sunday. Those are gone! The weather is still horrible and I have some long workdays planned, so I know that every little bit of weightloss will be from reduced food intake. That will be my challenge this week.

Good morning WNM and Welcome to August!

I'm Melanie and I'm from Kansas. I’m the other team Co-captain. Truly, Ashley does most of the heavy lifting.
I was always was skinny (no, not thin, skinny, all knees and elbows). At 18, I weighed between 110 and 120 at 5"6'. Maybe. When I got married at 24…I weighed maybe 160. But I was a happier person. I've got none of the reasonable reasons for gaining...no kiddos, just the husband. I got out of school (no more climbing those KU hills all the time), started working more sedentary jobs, started eating more, snacking, until about 6 years ago August 8, when I found myself weighing in about 230 and my six sixteens were too small. I bought a couple pairs of 18 pants from the thrift store and joined MFP.

I lost ~70 pounds in about a year and was pretty pleased. But I wanted another 20 off...and it didn't move. And things got a bit crazy with my husband's family (we won’t talk about that—it always leads to crazy-pants ranting)...so I decided to maintain for a bit and then come back. What came back was most of the weight. So...now I'm here and working on losing 60 pounds (40 of the 50 I 'found' and the 20 I never lost).

    My special snowflake challenges

I'm fairly significantly asthmatic (on meds all the time), have terrible allergies and connective tissue issues (not enough collagen, too stretchy, lots of joint slippage). Last August, I acquired some vertigo problems (or, maybe they just got worse)... I think it is sinus related and many of those problems have now resolved, after switching ENT’s. July was a struggle vertigo-wise and I’m off coffee as a result (this is very sad…I LOVE coffee). The point behind saying this is not woe-is-me, it is that a lot of exercise people promote is bad, and sometimes dangerous, for me.
So...mostly, I walk. I do a bit of yoga now and then (though it isn't recommended with the connective tissue thing...but feels good. Love up and down dog...) and have pilates vids I do sometimes. I should do these more and strength training (can be good for connective tissue issues) but I'm still not there yet. A few times a year, I go all out at gardening (it is that time of the year, if only it would stop raining...I keep thinking I will do some YouTube LesMills BodyFlow videos…I like those a lot. But haven’t done it. Still thinking about it…

    My 2021 Goal
My 2020 goal was Wonderland…but that was before the asthma insanity of the end of November and three rounds of Prednisone. Did NOT Happen. I’m there ish now. So…WOOT! I was 199 a week ago but weight fluctuations put me a bit higher than that right now. It will come off.
I have a closet full of size 10's that I want to wear.
Back to Wedding Weight (165) before the end of the year. Maybe lower...
    Daily goals:
Walk at least 30 minutes a day or do an exercise video.
Get back to doing core exercises every day.
80 oz of water or non-alcoholic liquid a day, mostly water. (I don't drink much in the way of alcohol generally, but just clarifying...long, ugly family history of substance abuse makes me very cautious)
Cut down on sugar and junk food (reducing sugar is generally helping, I turn into the munch monster when I eat candy...see: cookie monster's blond sister...)

I want to congratulate all our losers from July! I am super proud of all of you! 😊 And several of you have maintained, which is terrific, too. Not seeing losses or not seeing the losses you want can be disheartening. Don’t give up! Think of all the things you have accomplished…you can do anything you put your mind to!

Welcome to the team newbies! Looking forward to getting to know you all!
