omg, I may kick something...I see lower weights during the week! Then I bounce RIGHT BACK where I was. I'm walking, I'm eating pretty well, but every time I relax the SLIGHTEST BIT, one treat, one bite...I gain two pounds!
you don't win, weight. screw you. I'm *doing this.*
ETA: I really wish this forum made it easier to see things I'd like to respond to, while I'm in posting mode! Sandie, LOVE the pic with your wife, you both look so happy and healthy and HOT!
Wanderinglight, so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a furry friend, and when they are your soul-pup...so glad you can hold your own on the urges to self-sabotage while grieving.
Renewed, GO YOU!! You're going to sort this out, and you, like me, are going to win.
I'm sure there are others I'd like to respond to, but this forum... *grumbles*

GOAL: Lose 5 lbs in October.
GOAL: Retain a normal result on A1C bloodwork in October.
GOAL: Curtail evening snacking binges.
Progress: TOTM has knocked me down and ratcheted up the anxiety, but I still managed to lose something. Huzzah!8 -
@wanderinglight I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost two of my sweet pups and it is awful. They bring such joy and love and silliness into our lives.
@sandielewis2001 - you and your wife are looking smoking! Congrats on your weight loss and way to pick a restaurant that helps you stay on track!

Happy Monday!
I had an NSV yesterday - my jeans, which had been getting MORE than a little snug over the summer, are now a bit loose! I was walking around the local college campus yesterday and they were falling down as I was walking. They were fresh out of the wash, so they hadn't been stretched out by wear. That feels really nice.

Does anyone else like cooking with spaghetti squash? Looking for some new yummy recipes if anyone has any to share.10 -
@seltzer_lover nice NSV! as for spaghetti squash recipes - as an alternative to the classic "cut it in half and do it twice-baked potato style," cut it into ~1" rings, roast that (much quicker than halved, like 30 min vs 45+ in my oven), then scrape all the cooked flesh off the skin and use it like you would basically other vehicle for sauce. "Fish, rice, veg" is a quick and simple dinner I keep in my back pocket when I remember to buy frozen fish fillets - the spaghetti squash takes the place of the rice, I might also steam a bag of broccoli or whatever to go with. Spritz some oil and the seasonings of your choice on the filets, put the fish in for the last 15-20 minutes of roasting the squash (or roast the squash in advance, and treat it like hash browns on the stovetop while the fish bakes), put it all in a bowl and season to taste. I like sriracha/gochujang and soy sauce, maybe some sesame seeds/oil if I have the cals for it. Those steam-in-bag veggies are great for this, grab literally whatever you like - broccoli, brussels sprouts, edamame, or even the mixed vegetables.
edit to add: I just had a little NSV of my own. I stretched my arms above my head and my belly didn't pop out of my shirt. For years, the shirt I'm wearing today would ride up under my boobs and expose my belly even if I was just sitting still. It made me sad and self-conscious because I love the shirt, it's a beautiful plum purple color that looks great on me. I'm glad it's not happening anymore.8 -

I have no excuses for not losing weight this week. I need to to be more consistent with my food choices and exercise. I’m going to have to kick it in high gear to meet my October goal.5 -
NSV: Yesterday my daughter and I were home. I decided to utilize the time to go through both of our closets and pull out clothes for donation. To my surprise I had two laundry baskets both overfilling with clothing that is too big for me. I also found several items in my closet that now fit me - jeans, pants, skirts, shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts. I was so excited. Now onto the task of washing everything and boxing it up so I can donate it.
One thing that concerns me is I am dropping sizes rather quickly. When I started in March I was a size 24, now I am an 18. The new bras and shirts that I bought in August are too big on me and I have to buy new ones. At this rate I will not be able to afford to keep replacing my clothing as I shrink. I have been looking for sales when I can pick up things at a great price. Where are your favorite places to pick up inexpensive items that are still decent quality? I've been doing Kohls, Old Navy, and Target. I am in the states (NY) if that helps.
@sargemarcori
The same thing happens to me. I've noticed if I jump on the scale mid week I get a much lower weight than I do when I weigh in on Sundays. I chalk it up to fluctuations and know that regardless of what the scale chooses to tell me I am making positive changes.
As far as wishing it was easier to respond, I only do the forums from my computer rather than the app on my phone. When I respond I open the thread in two different tabs. One I read then then other I respond as I come across posts I would like to respond to. I don't know if my method would help you.
@swanjun
I am working on lowering my A1C too.

Great NSVs!!!1 -
One more question. I was adding new weight measurements to the check in section. While doing so I somehow managed to delete my entire fasting blood glucose information. All my data from March until now is gone. Does anyone know if there is a way to undo this?
I have all that data saved on Fitbit (I'm crazy and record it in two places) so if need be I will have to sit and reenter everything all over again. I was hoping there was an easier way.

Just want to say thanks for existing, group. I've been feeling so unhealthy and anxious about it and coming here reminds me there is something I can do to address it.10

@JNettie73 - Replenishing the closet after purging clothing is so hard. I have found myself buying the minimum that I can get away with since it won't last for long. My wife and I are losing weight together so we have double the closet troubles. I like Old Navy for basics (tees, tanks, shorts), Marshalls, Ross, TJMaxx for things like dressy tops, jeans and dresses. I have also found some really good deals on Poshmark (I usually have to search a particular brand than sort price low to high to find deals)2
-
I should probably go through my closet and dresser and reevaluate the clothes I have. I'm sure there's some things I could stand to part with in there, and maybe I'll find a few new pieces to add to the rotation. I know I only wear like four of my tee shirts, my work wardrobe consists of about 10 items and I've got triple that just taking up space. I am mad about needing to buy new bras and underwear so much quicker than I was expecting, though.3
-
@JNettie73 I've found second hand stores are FABULOUS to pad the wardrobe while you're on the way down in order to save the budget. I buy a few new pieces, and add in some thrifted finds (shirts are easier to find second hand for me. I'm 6').4

You ladies are just killing October!6 -
Hey ladies. I guess it's my turn to have a huge life upset come kick down my door and try to destabilize all I've built and worked for in the past year.
My husband has a spinal tumor.
Silver linings:
- It's small.
- His spine is otherwise fine - he went in for an MRI yesterday after dealing with back pain for several months, figuring he had a slipped disc and was prepared for that to be the diagnosis, had resigned himself to dealing with it until it got unbearable and then going in for spinal fusion in a few years. He wasn't prepared for cancer, but then, who is?
- We're extremely fortunate to be in a position to get it taken care of, and his parents are able to help, both financially and logistically.
It's still overwhelming, and while I am eternally grateful for his parents' assistance with navigating all of this, I still feel pretty helpless/useless. I'm trying hard not to get derailed - I know I need to keep taking care of myself to stay better-positioned to take care of him if it comes to it, but it's all just a lot. Calls are being made and consultations are being set up. I know we will be okay, but right now we aren't, and it's hard to stay the course, keep calm and carry on and all that. I haven't shared the news with my family yet; I'm letting him control the narrative among people we both know, since it's his news to share, and he wants to wait until there are concrete next steps to talk about/look forward to/follow up on before I drop this on them. Which is fine, I don't like sharing news with no structure like that, even if it's good. For bad news especially though, it feels...rude? wrong? to take this Upsetting Thing that I don't know what to do with and hand it to someone else who also won't know what to do with it, or what I want them to do with it, because I don't know that, either. But I can't hold it all myself, nor can I put the burden back on him to comfort ME about HIS diagnosis.
Just when I thought I had a pretty clear idea of what my life would be like going forward, this. I spent most of 2020 seeing the future as a vague fog of question marks and now we're back to that again, and I hate it.24 -
@goal06082021 Oh my goodness, I'm keeping you and your husband in my prayers. Even when cancer is theoretically manageable, small, treatable, etc....it's still absolutely terrifying and overwhelming, especially in the beginning.
I'm glad that you have family close by to help you through this in all the ways you'll be needing assistance. Sending positive vibes for you to stay as on track as you can right now.2 -
@goal06082021 Big hugs! The "C"word is so scary to hear. Sending positive thoughts for a manageable course of action & quick recovery!!!2
