If you haven't already done so, PLEASE go back and read our member's NSVs in yesterdays post! As always, we have several terrific NSV's this month!
I wanted to repost one that I think was HUGE!!!ashleycarole86 wrote: »NSV of the month: mindset shift
I just finished a long three week vacation that involved nights away, meals with family, tons of dinners out, and just a general disruption to my lifestyle. I did not use this as my normal excuse to go hog wild and lost weight over this period.
Things weren't "perfect" and this no longer drives me into a binge.
I feel my relationship with food has improved tremendously!
Congrats Ashley!!11 -
Ok.... two. I have two favorites from the NSV posts!!! I just HAD to share this one as well!! ❤ (It's just soooo hard to pick out just one!)readyornot1234 wrote: »@bradkcrew - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎉🎂🎁🎊🎈
NSV - I was taking care of my neighbor’s dog last week. When I went in one late afternoon to feed the dog, I accidentally left the key on their counter and locked myself out but didn’t realize until I was going back later that night to give the dog a stroll and to close the dog door. It is a medium size dog with a not so big dog door and inside there is only a foot of space between the wall and the washing machine. Somehow I managed to wiggle through the dog door sideways and then get to a standing position in that little space. The combination of being small enough to fit through the dog door and fit enough to get to a standing position (thank you squats) at almost 60 amazed me - although I couldn’t fend off the dog’s kisses so … something to work on. I hope they don’t have cameras in their house. Or maybe I do, because I would love to see what I looked like.

Welcome to the weekend folks.
It occurred to me while reading the NSVs yesterday that it is small changes over time that often make a big difference.
This month I have been experimenting with the small change of switching off my devices at 11 pm in order to improve my bedtime routine. There have been several unexpected results, the biggest of which is that I am often ready to switch off before the 11 pm deadline, and also occasionally almost miss it.
Some insights I have gained:
#1: Changing the word 'deadline' to 'guideline' and setting a reminder 30 minutes before the set time removes anxiety about hitting 'deadlines', and also allows me to prioritise any 'urgent' tasks before shutdown.
#2: Switching off at 11 pm allows me to concentrate on winding down and preparing for a calmer bedtime routine. I have replaced my evening meditation video with breathing exercises, and reading an actual book. Current book is 'A Mindful Evening' by David Dillard-Right, PHD.
#3: My body seems to have settled into its own groove with regards to bodily functions. To name a few, there are been fewer excursions to the bathroom in the middle of the night; more regular elimination of other waste LOL; time in the morning to exercise and do some yoga/tai chi while I am fresh.
All in all that one small change has had many good effects beyond those which I was expecting. It is spreading out like ripples in a pond and enriching my life in unexpected ways.
What small change could you make today that could make a difference in your life?
Have a great Saturday.8 -

This was my second pass day of the month. I did track breakfast and lunch, but we had my brother over for dinner for the first time since before lockdown and I had more calories than my target amount and didn't manage to track due to relaxing into the evening. Didn't go crazy crazy though. Also no exercise as worked from very early until when he came over.
So 2/3 pass days used to date.8 -
Trying to get my head back in the game. I know it is mid-month, but that's ok. Most of the day is pre-tracked. Have exercise clothing on for the day (will head out for a walk then more unpacking, packing and such). Let's see how the rest of October goes. Will do my check-in later.7

Sherri!!!!! So happy to see you back here. Hope you and @RangerRickL will find time from life moves to join us more often...3 -
@TerriRichardson112 @summerskier I honestly had thought that I had done enough months with focus and consistency that stumbling was not in my future. These past few months, proved otherwise. It is also amazing how once those old bad habits creep back in, they are hard to push back away. Scary and frustrating. Let's see if I can find the "me time" to make it work.
