Wednesday Weigh In

Hello, everyone. You are doing so well.
Havent stopped in/checked in for a while. I will be on track soonish I hope. Aiming to start losing again in the new year. Time goes so quickly that will be here in a blink.
Had my shoulder surgery finally (survived the presurgery anxiety - no idea how many pounds that cost, or what I weigh nowbut that is okay.). I'm puffy as all get out, so will postpone weighing in until next week. Dont want to bring on any unhealthy, anti-healing urges. I had 3 completely torn tendons reattached with screws and sutures - this repair has a 50/50 chance of success/failure - I want to be on the right side of that equation.
I will make 2022 an amazing year!
I'm so looking forward to cycling again, and regaining core and upper body strength!!
For now, I'm hoping to settle in around 175 for this leg of my weightloss journey - that is 5 pounds shy of a normal BMI which feels like a nice place to rest.
Good luck with the surgeon, Laura.0 -
@lauriekallis great you finally got surgery. 🤞Your recovery goes well and it's a success. Perfect timing too that you can hibernate and recover in the cold dark months and hopefully your feeling 100% as spring rolls in. Take care & wishing you a speedy recovery!1

Thank you ... you're exactly right!1

Goal 146lb
New Goal 142lb
Last week's weigh-in: 145.8
This weeks weigh-in: 145.2
Need to be at 145.8 or below for Dr appointment on Monday and am away with friends this weekend at a Spa hotel 😬 plan is to enjoy the dinners (within reason) and spend time between eating in the sauna 😂
I'll do a big walk Mon before my appointment as I normally loose a lb or so after this and also won't cycle Sunday as this always temporarily increases my weight for a few days 🤞 I'm cutting it fine. My body doesn't seem to want to go lower than where its settled at, Ideally I'd like to have a range between 142 - 146.

Start 256.0 Sept 8, 2019
Prior 141.3 Oct 28, 2021
Current 140.5 Nov 4, 2021
Loss 0.8
Goal 130s (no specific number, just to be under 140) (see my long intro)
My goal was to expect a gain due to a huge party and after party this weekend and a lunch out on Tuesday so figured if I stayed in the 141s I'd be satisfied. The party happened but was NOT a blow out and there was no after party, though I did do lunch on Tuesday, so I actually lost 0.8 to be 140.5.
I'm not sure what's happening this coming week. I have Mexican dinner tonight (with chips) and pizza Saturday but I'm not sure on the alcohol. So I will set a goal of even for next week as I figure out maintenance calories still (TBH I haven't put much/any effort into that arithmetic) and a would be nice goal of 139.5 (a one pound loss).
Oh....I hit 115 pounds lost (115.5 to be exact)......
Have a great week!1 -

Was down to 143.8 last week for a doctors appointment, happy to be back up this week as I ate very little to get to that point and it wasn't sustainable. had a good week this week of entering a swimming gala for the first time in over 30 years. I didn't swim particularly fast but was delighted to compete as it was something I was dreading and it really wasn't that bad at all, I actually enjoyed the day.
Had my appointment with the surgeon last Monday week and the first half went really well where she agreed yes I defiantly need the surgery, we went through the actual operation and recovery etc was about to book me in when I asked ok so what the process with insurance as I qualify meeting all of their criteria. Her tone completely changed when I wasn't whipping out the credit card there and then.
Anyhow, I went back to my GP who was as perplexed as I was about the attitude as she feels I qualify also, plus the surgeon didn't specify why I wouldn't qualify just that nobody does. This isn't my experience or that of my GP, so she is referring me to a different surgeon. Not delighted about the delay bit then it's better to be in maintenance a little longer and you really do need to be happy about your choice of surgeon too.1 -
Wow - yes you don't want a pissed off surgeon. I looked into a breast reduction/lift before I lost a lot of this weight and one of them was just awful. I had surgery the year prior for a hip replacement and got blood clots a month after - very unusual - if you get them it's 99% in the first 2 weeks so they think I had them all along (still have some too but don't need the meds anymore). Anyway this surgeon asked what I did wrong. Eff her. I knew she'd never take responsibility if she did screw up so I left asap. Good luck!0

Apparently I didn't post last Thursday or the one prior so....
Start 256.0 Sept 8, 2019
Prior 143.8 Nov 11 (gain 3.3) and Nov 18, 2021 (even)
Current 140.9 Nov 25, 2021
Loss 2.9
Goal 130s (no specific number, just to be under 140) (see my long intro)
My goal for the 11th was unsure and I see why. I went nuts! I gained 3.3 pounds and was glad it wasn't 5 pounds. I didn't take the gas off the pedal the next week either and was very happy it wasn't more gaining. This past week I got back to my normal way of life and got off most of what I gained. I wasn't mad or upset, I enjoyed what I had but I did feel that 3.3 pounds on me.
Today is Thanksgiving in the US and so I'm having a large dinner though not huge. It's just me and my boyfriend so we're not making massive quantities of food but it will be larger than normal for sure. And we will have dessert and a few drinks. Friday we'll have leftovers though with no desserts or drinks. Saturday is always our pizza and drinks night. Then Chanukah starts Sunday night so I'm probably making a brisket which isn't the lightest of meals. So my goal for next Thursday is still to lose, maybe 0.4 so I can be at 140.5.
I still have my sights on the 130s as my final goal range. The hope was for Thanksgiving and to maintain it through the year end but I didn't feel like putting in the work to make that happen, so 130s by year end is fine. These last few pounds won't matter physically, it's just to get in the range to then officially be in maintenance forever and ever and ever.
Have a great week!0 -
@FitByFifty1970 Actually its not even that much of a delay now, my GP referred me to her choice and I have a consult mid Dec :-)

I seem to be settling into about 1 lb a month loss, which I’m happy with and will ideally to settle around 140. Doesn’t feel like dieting anymore just how I eat and get to enjoy some treats and some extra at the weekends. I would be happy to hit and be maintaining the 140 by Feb/March. I know it seems like nothing to lose but it's very slow to come off at this point. I need to keep reminding myself I’m down from 183 this time last year!
Happy Thanksgiving to all from that side of the pond, enjoy the celebrations.1 -

Not sure why I havent changed anything but weight seems to be slowly creeping down. Had a few weeks of it constantly bouncing above 146 but it seems to have finally started moving down and settling around the 144. I may even reach the final final goal of 140 in the next few months 😊. It really is baby steps at this point, but happy to take it slowly.1 -
@laurad1978 That's awesome! Congrats!0

Start 256.0 Sept 8, 2019
Prior 140.9 Nov 25, 2021
Current 139.4 Dec 2, 2021
Loss 1.5
Goal 130s (no specific number, just to be under 140) (see my long intro)
Welp, I'm in the 130s. Insane. I am shocked. I ate over the past week an entire box of stuffing, three HUGE portions of amazing mashed potatoes (I made them, real butter and half/half), half of that weird green bean casserole (not good, not sure why I ate it), half a pizza, a huge piece of cake, an enormous cookie, a rugelah (jewish cookie), Drake's ring dings and devil dogs, and a fair amount of booze. I have no idea how I lost anything, much less 1.5 pounds to get into the 130s.
Kinda throws a wrench for me....my thought was to bounce around in the low 140s until mid-January, then get to the 130s and start maintenance. I feel now I shouldn't lose this and should try for a 0.4 loss this week to creep down into my maintenance range. I have a party night Saturday and Monday so it can be kinda tough. But, I'll keep that as my goal anyway so next Thur hopefully will be 139.0.
Happy Krampus everyone!1 -
@FitByFifty1970 well done, great achievement and brilliant to get it pre Christmas too. Kick back and enjoy the festive. Brilliant that it's fitting so well into your lifestyle.0

The downward trend continues 😊, into a nice routine now with exercise and food. Loosing the reins at the weekend and able to enjoy the freedom.
Had my consultation with second surgeon this week and it went really. I'm booked in for BR for early Feb. Which is also perfect timing as I'll be recovered for my paddel boarding trip to Norway end of May with plenty of time to train for it too.1 -

First thanks for the kind words, it is so very appreciated. I did pop up to 140.0 but trust me, after the last week of eating I'm thrilled. I did have my Mexican night last Thursday and it got insane. Almost a full pitcher of margaritas just to start with....Friday I made breakfast for dinner but it was HUGE - homemade latkes and a full bagel. Saturday was hoping for an easier night but the boyfriend's bandmates crapped out on him so I stepped up. We had pizza for dinner already but after they pooped out we went out for drinks and had chicken fingers at the bar and then back home for ice cream and syrup. Ummm, yea. Sunday wasn't so bad, just a heavy dinner of brisket. Monday though - that was a show of his so we ate Five Guys burger and fries (so good) then pizza with the band at home after with some drinks then I polished off the rest of the ice cream from Saturday (Ben and Jerrys everything but the.... is my go to). So....only up .6 is AMAZING.
Next week I'd like to be down back to the 139s.......
Congrats @laurad1978 you are doing so amazing!!!!0 -
So exciting to see this group still alive.
@laurad1978 - congratulations! You have accomplished this so well. The slower and consistent losses you post have really blown me away. That is where I wanted to be this year - but haven't quite got a handle on it. I tend to go to one extreme or the other. Losing that first one hundred I handled well - but the last twenty just have been an up and down battle. No matter how much I believe that a quieter approach will work best, I have yet to manage it. You truly are an inspiration.
@fitbyfifty1970 - your numbers an descriptions of what you have been eating always blow me away. Glad you can bring both of these worlds together. I have found I need to redirect my focus from meals to the other aspects of my life or the "food component" takes over. So nice to read how you have found a way to enjoy food and lose well at the same time. Just reading your post makes me feel heavier

@lauriekallis great to hear from you and hope life is good. Loosing 100lbs is a huge achievement and keeping it off is something you must be so proud of. The last few pounds are really are just vanity pounds that we torture ourselves with. I hope your enjoying the new you and not limiting what you have accomplished with the last few. You've done amazing!!!!0

Fighting a cold all week so haven't been as active as usual, plus upping my water to try beat the cold. Not too worried about the gain as I'm sure it's nearly all water, certainly haven't gone over maintenance by that many calories.
I'll ease off the weighing myself daily until January 1st to enjoy Christmas and deal with the aftermath in January - don't mind a gain of about 4lbs as most will be down to sodium and water. Plus with surgery early Feb I'll need to be back down so will have a goal to focus on to get me back on track.
