I really feel that this year I'm in the right place to become who I want to be. It's not going to be easy, and the path is not straightforward. I'm not looking forward to having surgery in these times, heaven knows! but afterwards things will be better, and I'm looking forward to finding out what the path is to getting my breast reduction.5

Thinking "Light" a good word for 2022. Finding those lights that will lead me to make the right choices towards good health. Sometimes the light does hide behind a cloud like in my favorite photo from 2021. It still strikes me how much beauty that light created. Beauty in the ordinary becomes extra ordinary.4

I was inspired by some Noom ads to look ahead at weight loss. I'm at 170 now and my goal is 140. If I can lose two pounds a week, that's fifteen weeks, or somewhere around the first of May. Give it the first of June to account for those pesky plateau weeks. That would mean new clothes. And new energy. Let's see if I can do it.
I know it's big talk for someone who ate a burger and fries today instead of a salad. So I'm over by more than 200 calories. So tomorrow ought to be a catch-up day. Let's see if I can do it. One day at a time!
Thirty pounds by June first! I just have to remember that I want to be slim and strong more than I want to eat treats.

Got a few things done! Whoop Whoop! At least feeling accomplished in spite of 2 hours driving.

Thanks Barbie for the new month. I’ve been thinking about a word but haven’t settled on one yet.
Working on putting Christmas away We had a 40 degree drop in temperature today.

Happy New Year. Barbie: Thank you for setting up the platform for us to continue to share, vent, laugh and grow.
My word for 2021 was FLOW. It was a fitting choice, and I almost hate to let it go. But I have decided my word for 2022 is RENEWAL. There are going to be some changes ahead, but dang if I know what those will be. Just know that I am going to embrace my fateful freedom and start to find out who I am. Will continue the self care I do now including meditation (daily), Reiki and therapeutic massage. Will add getting involved with a church, going out with a variety of friends and taking a course that taps my creative side.
For now, I have a significant 'to-do' list of items that will keep me busy and feeling like I'm moving forward. Slowly, but at least moving. ▶▶▶
Kelly and Kylia: Proud of you for making SELF a cornerstone of your upcoming year! I do know how hard it is, especially because there are so many people who depend on you and lean on you, constantly! Let us know how we can help.

Machka - that’s quite interesting. My Grandmother always said when you quit learning is when your brain dies. She said it more eloquently than that, but it made sense.
I don’t know how you find the time or energy to do all of the research and such, I find it difficult after work to try to continue doing a lot that requires brain work.
Heather - you make the ordinary magical. I so admire you.
Barbara - I need to find the tape measure too. I’m a little scared.
Lisa - it sounds like we did. When my DH and I were first married he kept saying “you want better than that” in whatever it may be, furniture, living space whatever. I kept saying over and over all I want is heat, hot water and no rodents or bugs. He never saw my parents house the way it was when I was young. Dad had put some work into it over the years. The year I was married they actually built an addition that had electric heat and put in a bathtub and hot water heater.

We didn’t have any fireworks that I heard last night. I’m glad only because I love viewing them and get frustrated when I can’t see them. I don’t have any pets or anything to worry about.

Kylia - I have suffered with depression several times, it’s good that your husband understands and is trying to help. Have you talked to your doctor about it as well?
Heather - sorry your day didn’t go as well as you would have expected. It sounds like a nap will help for sure.

Kelly - your new Grandson is as precious as the other two. I love your self-care word.
I contacted my Mom’s first cousin to ask if she knew why my Grandmother had to have a hysterectomy later in life. She wasn’t sure and no longer has her Mother’s diaries to look. I found out she is recovering from Stage 3 breast cancer. I’m not sure exactly how old she is, I think around 76-77. Both of her daughters battled it in 2016. It was nice to hear from her.
I slept in until 1030 this morning and then had a nap from 130-3. I am so tired.
I have invited our eldest daughter and her family for supper tomorrow so that we can celebrate Michaela’s 6th birthday a day early. I need to go buy a cake in the morning.

It was a brilliant, blue sky, low tide walk on the beach day. Not even any wind, so it didn’t feel as cold as it was. Glad we seized the chance. Rain forecast for as far out as the weather app goes.

Today is my sons 37th birthday, cant even believe it.. It will be a quiet day I dont think he celebrates he used to throw hinself a party at a local restaurant up until a few years ago,but with this crazy stuff going on.. we are all just staying put..
His present from me for Christmas and Birthday was the car.
Today I'll get my lazy butt up and hop in the shower and put fresh sheets on the bed.
Maybe go look for some nice flowers for Elena's birthday she will be 60 on Tuesday.4 -

Welcome to the first week of the year, where you will consistently write the date as 2021, or at least I will.
Realized I didn't put my December goals realization or my goals for January.
December goals were:
✅ Be lighter - I was 176 on December 1, and 174 on January 1.
✅ Be healthier - I feel better than I did, and slated lots of doctor stuff in January which will hopefully bring more answers. Getting the diagnosis (ulcerative colitis) after two years of feeling like crap on a cracker was a huge boost to my morale.
❌ Stick to the budget - Well, we took the budget out back and set it on fire (metaphorically), but will hopefully do better this month.
January goals:- Be lighter
- Be healthier
- Stick to the budget
2022 goals:- Be lighter
- Wade through the application to have social security payments start in my birth month
- Pay off the house
- Recover my health
