@pridesabtch - work upheaval is so stressful.
Hope you learn more soon and it isn’t dragged out.
@Bex953172 - so many people have anxiety. My daughter named hers Fred. When she’s having a hard day or moment her husband will ask her if Fred is being an a** again and it’s helped her immensely. She gets angry and tells Fred where to go and what to do.

Today I have to travel to my business. I don't really want to go, as we have high winds again, but I don't have an option to put it off.
So goals for today are to drive carefully, and not overeat.
Mission accomplished yesterday. No new damage, some had been fixed and some hadn't. I drove very carefully! Really strong winds, and torrential rain on the way home. I dislike when the roads are swimming in water, I've aquaplaned and crashed a car before so it makes me anxious now. Something hit the roof of my car, can only think it was a small bit of tree, the noise really made me jump. Still glad I went, today we've had a little covering of snow, but it's frozen and cars are crashing so it would be more dangerous today. I didn't log but did quite well...until I sunk to a new "low" and took a handful of crisps to bed with me. That is a bad habit I shouldn't encourage!

Ooops! Double Post!!!1

@TerriRichardson112 I really like your poem. It really describes Scotland today, as well as Ireland!
I see you are doing Latin study, how are you finding that? I think Latin was my favourite subject at school, possibly because the teacher was a character who often told stories of his trips to Greece instead. Lovely man

Not really surprising 😝 We’re just across the sea from you.

I didn’t do Latin in school, but always felt I would like to have a better grasp, since it helps with understand language roots.
Our group leader, Rose, is a wonderful teacher. We are currently using the Oxford language Course Books. We do grammar, translation, and discussion for about 45 minutes, then learn about myths/legends for about 45 minutes.
And Rose brings us delicious cakes for our mid session coffee break. (I always keep calories for her goodies)
I've just nipped on here while having a coffee, to stop me eating!
I’m just watching the tragic coverage of Ukraine before having my lunch.3 -

Work from home day today and spin class tonight. No other plans. Well, going by my mom's place and picking up bills.

That's amazing! I've heard of doing that too on a mental health thread. And even did it myself. Funnily enough when I read it on the internet, they called theirs Fred too!
So when I was getting down I said to myself "F off Fred!"
It helps separate the condition from the real you I find!
I'm glad it helps her too!2 -

You live in the UK right? Are you more up north from Manchester? I can't remember where you live.
Here it's been windy, not too much damage from what I've read in the news.
The river Mersey burst its banks though in Storm Eunice.
Today its been so cold and hailing on and off. And bouts of heavy rain.
Trees always worry me when it's windy.
You never know which ones going to fall.
Years ago a tree fell into a road near our school. It was massive..huge.
And it turned out it was my friends tree. I was at her house all the time and we always played next to that tree in her back garden.
I can't remember what damage it caused. It was 15 years ago now!
But yeah, don't like trees when it's windy!2 -
Stressful start today. Woke up to the news about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, leading to concerns for family and friends working on military bases in Germany, as well as for visiting Ukrainian students and their families. Spent most of my morning prep time watching the BBC coverage while my tea got cold. Then, in a rush, I dropped a heavy jar on my toe - ouch! - not broken but quite sore. Arrived at class late and frazzled because I couldn't find my car keys.
But I'm done with classes for the week, so I'll be try to get a few things done at home and work in some exercise. Today's temperatures are almost 40 degrees cooler than yesterday's unseasonably balmy 70. Another winter storm is moving in, although we'll probably get mostly rain. The local weatherman calls it "weather whiplash." I'll be fighting the urge to huddle under a blanket and get sucked into my screens.

End of 2018: 189.2
End of 2019: 196.4
End of 2020: 187.4
End of 2021: 194.4
Today: 201.0
Ongoing plans/ideas
1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for GR purchase list.
2. E2: Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri. Unit plan for research (Idea for regular: comparing same story on sites with different biases).
5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week - Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals. Look into publishing and literacy doctoral programs.
6. Medical: Dentist May 12. Oct 14 1p. PCP Apr 12 9:15. Therapy 1/26 10A and 2/24 4P. Ankle 9:30 2/7.
7. Theater: Read play for discussion Mar 8 7P.
8. House: Siding. Or perhaps bathroom floor. How to remove cement.
9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy bike rack for car.
10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
11. Family: Book group. Dinners?
12. Writing: Blog post: Running, Racism and Rum: Learning to Handle Discomfort. Fanfic: Create a scene list for the Batgirl story. Finish the cafe scene for the Titans story.
13. Lifting: 15 squats, 15 deadlifts, 10 shoulder presses, 15 arm raises, 10 pushups, 30 crunches, 15 side lifts, 15 back kicks. Horse stance for 5 breaths, tree for 10 breaths each leg.
14. Summer: Organize photos with the family. Write Clois. Write Stuffy and Friends. Create blog posts for video lessons.
15. Other: Practice hair braiding with D. Remind D to ask his dad about the table and check with home repair contractors. 3 posts/week? Create test for MLA format. Create test for infographics and visual information. Remember that M does not like surprises! Check dates of classes and update semester plan. She Should Run vision statement. Update standards on board. When to change bulletin board? Indochino suit fitting - Atlanta or Nashville?
