So when they told me to do all of the exercises and not to worry that I can't hurt anything? Well, that was a lie. Maybe I can't re-injure or damage anything, but I can sure as heck make my pain worse and slow down my healing! I've been overdoing it and now I'm backing off because I had a much better day today after taking it a little easier. I slept all night with the CPM machine on last night at a modest bend of 75% and woke up feeling pretty good today. I've needed very little pain management today. I still have to do my home-assigned PT exercises for the day and they're going to hurt, but hopefully not for long. :)

@dave keep going at a steady pace towards healing. I'm trying to remember that. I'm supposed to make a fist ten times an hour, not ten times a minute. Keep that pain level under control with taking the meds regularly. Mine's a lot better, now just Aleve in the morning and at night. Ripped the bandage off yesterday - no scissors just my bare hands lol - and I swear I heard birds singing. It felt so good to be unrestricted. Now I'm doing almost everything with that hand like normal.

@KAR328 - That's wonderful news, Karen! You know I think I felt your freedom all the way here in Minnesota this morning when you tore that bandage off!!  And I'm so glad that your function is already restored so much! Love hearing this.

Had my first in-person PT appointment today. And yes, just as I suspected on my own, I was WAAAY overdoing it. Sure, I hit progress marks for the 3-week point already, but the trainer said to stop hurting myself. Do less reps, do less severe bending, be sure to rest my muscles too....and said the word for this week is CHILLAX. I'm already able to bend my knee further than where I should be able to and if I never make another single iota of progress, I'd still live a happy, normally functioning life. (physically anyway lol) She was super-impressed with how well I'm already able to walk, but had a couple of pointers to make it even better. She wants me to stop focusing on how far I can bend it and focus on straightening it up all the way. Shen she first measured, I was only able to straighten it to a 12º bend. By the end of this first session, it improved to 9º. She told me to just breathe and it will all be okay. I really needed that. I was expecting to hear that I just needed to suck it up and do more. What a relief. I bear-hugged her when we were done. :)

Thanks, @CLEPANT!! And that's probably why everyone stressed so hard about how important it was to do ALL. THE. EXERCISES. Because people tend not to do them. I just really took it to heart, I guess.

@dave Nice work! We both need to not overdo it. I'm supposed to make a fist and spread the fingers ten times/hour but I usually do more and can feel it at the end of the night. My personal accomplishment today was cutting a bagel from NYC and keeping all my fingers and my stitches intact. I ordered some a few weeks ago and forgot to cut a few before freezing them. Decided to go for it this morning using a dish towel over the incision to pad it. NY bagels are on the dense side so cutting these always has a slightly higher risk than anything around here anyway.
